ZODB 3.2.10 final released

I'm pleased to announce the release of ZODB 3.2.10 final. This corresponds to the ZODB in Zope 2.7.8 final. You can download a source tarball or Windows installer from: http://zope.org/Products/ZODB3.2 Note that there are two Windows installers, for Python 2.3 (2.3.5 is recommended) and Python 2.4 (2.4.2 is recommended). ZODB 3.2.10 contains a few bugfixes relative to 3.2.9, all in obscure error cases. The most serious is a workaround for what appears to be a rare race bug in Microsoft's implementation of socket binding on Windows platforms. ZODB 3.4.2 final released

I'm pleased to announce the release of ZODB 3.4.2 final. This corresponds to the ZODB in Zope 2.8.2 final. You can download a source tarball or Windows installer from: http://zope.org/Products/ZODB3.4 Note that there are two Windows installers, for Python 2.3 (2.3.5 is recommended) and Python 2.4 (2.4.2 is recommended). ZODB 3.4.2 mostly contains obscure error-case bugfixes relative to 3.4.1. One important fix: most applications that do subtransaction commits do so to reduce RAM consumed by the ZODB memory ("pickle") cache. When subtransactions were reimplemented on top of savepoints, this cache reduction no longer occurred. That was an oversight, and is repaired in 3.4.2. CPSSharedCalendar 1.3.3 released

October 12, 2005 -- Nuxeo is happy to release CPSSharedCalendar 1.3.3 CPSSharedCalendar is an advanced, flexible calendaring component for Zope and CPS3. It allows CPS users to access personal calendars using a web interface. Events on the calendar can be shared between multiple users, as a user can invite others to an event. This event will then appear on the calendar of the invited users as well. Features of the CPSSharedCalendar include among others: * a web interface for managing calendars, * integration with iCalendar clients (Apple iCal, Mozilla Sunbird, KOrganizer...) using the iCalendar protocol, * invitation workflow, * meeting support, * meeting helper that looks for free time, * etc. CPSSharedCalendar is built on a reusable core and is not just for CPS. It has been written from the ground up to be easy to integrate with other Zope 2 platforms such as Plone and Silva, and with portability to Zope 3 in mind. Its python core component (CalCore) can even be used outside of Zope altogether. Recent changes includes: * Major speed increases for big installations. * Event coloring according to type. * Calendar "stacking": You can create calendars which display the events of several calendars as if they were one. * Migration from the older CPSCalendar. * Support for Zope 2.7 and 2.8, CMF 1.4 and 1.5, CPS 3.2 and 3.3. * Bugfixes, including finalizing the french translation. MVCC solves nearly every problem with ZODB read-conflict errors which is very important for high-traffic Zope sites. - Extension Classes were rewritten as Python new-style classes making all features of Python new-style classes available in Zope objects. Zope Debugger 0.8.1 Released!

This release adds support for both Zope 2.7 and Zope 2.8. Zope Debugger is an enhanced version of pdb for use with Zope. It can be used simply by inserting the following lines in any python code you'd like to debug, including Script (Python)'s and FSPythonScripts: from Products.zdb import set_trace set_trace() It requires no changes to Zope, CMF or Plone or any funky interaction with any specific kind of editing software. All you really need to do is insert the snippet above and make sure your Zope instance is running in foreground mode. Please join us October 12, 7:30-9:00 PM, for the fifth meeting of the Fredericksburg, VA Zope and Python User Group ("ZPUG"). Learn about Python configuration of Asterisk, an open source VOIP! Free food! Rob Page, Zope Corporation CEO and President, will present a technical session on Asterisk [1] installation, configuration and operation. A brief discussion of connections to the public telephone network and internet telephony providers will be presented. Hadar Pedhazur, Zope Corporation Chairman of the Board, will present a technical session on call handling and processing using Python extensions to Asterisk. We will also serve delicious fruit, cheese, and soft drinks. We've had a nice group for all the meetings. Please come and bring friends! It runs on Linux, BSD and MacOSX and provides all of the features you would expect from a PBX and more. Asterisk does voice over IP in many protocols, and can interoperate with almost all standards-based telephony equipment using relatively inexpensive hardware. Asterisk provides Voicemail services with Directory, Call Conferencing, Interactive Voice Response and Call Queuing. It has support for three-way calling, caller ID services, ADSI, SIP and H. 323 (as both client and gateway). Check the Features section for a more complete list. Asterisk needs no additional hardware for Voice over IP. For interconnection with digital and analog telephony equipment, Asterisk supports a number of hardware devices, most notably all of the hardware manufactured by Asterisk's sponsors, Digium™. [Ann] Zope Hotfix 2005-10-09

Hello, a security issue with the Docutils package coming with Zope 2.6 or higher has been discovered. Sites that expose reStructuredText functionality to untrusted users (typically portal sites allowing registered users to edit content) are possibly affected. Download location and installation are available from http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope/Hotfix_2005-10-09/security_alert The hotfix is supposed to work with any Zope 2.7 and 2.8 version. It might work for Zope 2.6 and Python 2.1 but we can not give a guarantee since Zope 2.6 is no longer maintained. Plone sites do not seem to be affected (there seems to be some additional code on top of Zope's reST implementation avoiding the failure) however this not a guarantee. The upcoming Zope 2.8.2 and 2.7.8 releases will also ship with the hotfix. Andreas Jung
