PloneArticle is full-featured **Archetypes-based content type** which provides an Article/Document type with many improvements and comfort: * Multiple Images, Attachments (files) and links support * Multiple page layouts (models) for your articles * Full Archetypes integration, with the ability to reference content in your article to create an aggregated article * Support for attachments **indexing** and **preview** for numerous file types * A lock support - useful for team work * A really friendly user-interface, thought for **end-user** ! * Full featured configlet for easy configuration ## Features * Add Images : Add any images to your article, as they come from your hard-drive. With our images support, no extra-bandwith consumed : thumbnails are calculated once and cached on the server. (using PIL, not mandatory) * Add Attachments : Add as many attachment as you want to your article. Content type is detected, and the correct icon is shown. PLUS : the **content** of your attachment is indexed. You need the GPL [PloneExFile][1] for this feature. _Next version will enhance support for External Editor, in order to ease modification of attachment directly from the web_. * Link your content : Add links from your article to any content of your website, using a nice interface, and have the links **automatically** maintainied ! (thanx to Archetypes reference mechanism). Only the person who locked the article or an administrator can unlock it. Of course, you can disable this feature in our configlet if you don't want to mess your users ;) Furthermore, the referencing feature brings a new step in Plone's team work management : you can work your underlying content (images, files and links) in team workspaces and have a small set of plone articles in your "public" space referencing those private documents. Events (and event subscriptions) are a major concept for loose integration of independent components. Zope3 supports events and event subscriptions. However, its subscriptions are global. Many (local) services are interested in events generated in a specific subsite. A prominent example are catalogs that catalog objects in a subsite. "localevent" is a Zope2 product. It provides a (persistent and local) local_event_subscription tool (in the sense of CMF tools). Other tools can use it to subscribe for (Zope3) events originating in the subsite rooted in the parent of the local_event_subscription instance. Zwiki 0.39 released, news roundup

What is it Zwiki is a Zope product for building wikis - a special kind of website that's easy for anyone to edit. What's changed Search improvements, subtopics ordering, style tweaks, bugfixes. News Development has been intermittently active. Code contributions this month included fixes from huron and from Stefan Rank. Bug reporting and discussion has been steady. Bug closing rate has been low. In the documentation department, there is a new User's Guide (http://zwiki.org/UsersGuide) and a cleaned-up front page at zwiki.org. ZODB 3.2.6 beta 1 released

I'm pleased to announce the release of ZODB 3.2.6 beta 1. You can download a source tarball or Windows installer from: http://zope.org/Products/ZODB3.2 There are several critical bugfixes in this release, addressing rare problems in two major areas: - Thread and asyncore races while ZEO is attempting to make a connection, leading to connection failure and/or missed messages. - Rare cases in which FileStorage could reuse oids already assigned, leading to distinct objects with the same oid (object identifier). The primary cause was that FileStorage.restore() didn't update the storage's idea of the largest oid in use, regardless of how large an oid was passed to it. The first stage of ZRS recovery, and copyTransactionsFrom(), both rely on the .restore() method, and so both could create database copies that believed no oids had yet been assigned. A secondary cause was that a FileStorage's .index file contains a "maximum oid in the index" record, and the value in this record was believed even when it was incorrect. The primary cause was repaired by simple changes to .restore() and .store(), so that .index files with a bad max-oid record are no longer created. But there may be such databases already in existence, so the secondary cause was addressed by larger changes to ignore the max-oid record in the .index file, extracting the largest oid directly from the index instead (this is basically a BTree mapping oids to file offsets, so finding the largest key is very efficient; the separate max-oid record is really a leftover from earlier times, before a BTree was used here). Note that although ZODB 3.2.6 ignores an .index file's max-oid record, it still writes a max-oid record when it saves an .index file. This is so older ZODB releases can continue to read .index files produced by ZODB 3.2.6. See the news file for details: http://zope.org/Products/ZODB3.2/NEWS ZODB 3.2.6 can be used with Zopes in the 2.7 line, at or after Zope 2.7.3. Note that ZODB 3.2.6 does not support development on Zope 2.8, Zope X3 or Zope 3 (they require the ZODB 3.3 line).
