Silva 0.9.2 beta released

Hello, Infrae is happy to release the beta version of the upcoming Silva 0.9.2. Silva is a web application (Zope based) for authoring and serving publications for the web, paper, and other media. Content is stored in clean and future-proof formats, independent of layout and presentation, suitable for use in multiple contexts. For more information on Silva see: http://www.infrae.com/products/silva http://www.zope.org/Members/infrae/Silva This is a feature complete beta. However, being a beta, it most probably has bugs. Silva 0.9.2 will provide extensive new functionality (see also the HISTORY.txt file included in the Silva Product) such as: * Thoroughly revised user interface. * Completely new, flexible metadata architecture. * All text - including metadata - is stored as unicode. * Everything is now indexed using the Zope catalog. * Increased performance, both for public views and for the Silva edit screens. We do encourage testing this beta! It is strongly advised *not* to use this version for production sites though. Due to changes in the content structure this version will not work with existing Silva content. This beta version - as will the final release - includes a content upgrade script. The upgrade script needs testing on 'real world' content. If you do upgrade existing content for testing this procedure, please first make a backup! The second annual Europython conference, being held this year in Charleroi, Belgium on June 25-27, 2003, is also an opportunity to meet with fellow developers and exchange ideas and experiences. TextIndexNG 2 Beta 1 released

I am pleased to announce the release of TextIndexNG 2.0 Beta 1 What's new in TextIndexNG 2.0? - Relevance ranking of search results added. Searches are now ranked using an extended cosine measure. The cosine measure is based on a vector model and calculates the document "score" based on the frequency of the query terms inside the document result set. - Much faster phrase/near search: the old implementation of TextIndexNG had to perform a very expensive job at query time when phrase/near search was performed. Re-using the !WidCode module of !ZCTextIndex made this operation less expensive. - Left-truncation added: TextIndexNG can be configured creation-time time to support left-truncation (means you can search for "*suffix") - optional auto-expansion support: This optional feature also to get better search results when some of the query terms could not be found. The index expands a query term "foo" to "foo*" if there was no hit for "foo". This expansion is currently global for the index. This feature will be available on a per-query basis in a later version. (Auto-expansion will be extended in a later version to search for similiar terms) - improved HTML converter: now using Chris Withers "Strip-o-Gram" module instead of the Strip-Tag-Parser - added converter for text/sgml - Similarity search (soundex, metaphone, doublemetaphone) dropped and replace with a more general approach and language indepedant approach using the Levenshtein distance. - internal code cleanup, more unittests - range searches like "Fi..Foo" - substring searches "*substring*" - reduced conflict errors caused by the lexicon/storage implementation - no longer conflicts with TextIndex V 1 installations Download: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=50052 Project Wiki: http://www.zope.org/Members/ajung/TextIndexNG/

Hi all, We did some re-arangement of the website and added a complete new section to it. I think you all will going to love this one. It contains all practical information when being at Charleroi. We encourage to print it out -before you go to Charleroi- you never know when you need it! We will also put this information in the EuroPython2003 brochure. RevisionManager 1.3.2 bugfix released

I'm pleased to announce another bugfix release of RevisionManager. RevisionManager is a CVS frontend product for Zope. It brings the power of revision controlling to the ZODB. Changes since 1.3: * Improved CVSWrapper's portability targetting Win32 platforms. That means RevisionManager should run on Windows now ("restrictions may apply")! Many thanks to Xie Yan Bo who provided the fix. * Fixed a bug concerning diffs. Thanks again to Xie Yan Bo for reporting and fixing. * Fixed a bug that occurred when adding objects. * The bundled ZopeTree has been updated to version 1.3 If you already have an instance of RevisionManager, please follow the instructions in the INSTALL.txt file, section 4 Upgrading. Call for Participants for Zope 3 Sprint before Europython 2003 in Belgium (correction)

Hi everybody, As Guido van Rossum has noticed june 24 is a tuesday not a thursday :-) To avoid confusion below the corrected version of the Zope 3 sprint call for participants. -------------------- The Zope 3 sprint in Louvain-la-Neuve at the local university before the Europython conference is now definitive. When: Three days from june 22 to 24, 2003 (sunday to tuesday). Registration: If you decided to participate the sprint just drop me a e-mail and register your name and e-mail in the sprint wiki (see below). Accomodation: Take care to decide on participation as early as possible. Quick reservation is needed because there seems to be only little place to stay in Louvain-la-Neuve! If possible, plan to arrive on saturday evening/night. This way we don't lose time on sunday morning. Godefroid will help us moving from Louvain-la-Neuve to Charleroi Wednesday morning. So it would make sense to book the night in Louvain-la-Neuve from tuesday to wednesday also. Sprint Coaches and Topics: Experienced people like Steve Alexander, the codeworks people (Albertas Agejevas, Marius Gedminas, Viktorija Zaksiene), Martijn Faassen and possibly Godefroid Chapelle will act as Coaches. Topics will be determined definitively during the next weeks.
