Silva 0.8.6 released!

Hi there, We've just released Silva 0.8.6! Even though it's a small version number increase, there are quite a few changes. One of the biggest involves a complete move over of the code to the filesystem, using FileSystemSite. This means no more big .zexp with all the view code; this comes with the product code itself. Unfortunately we found out at the last moment that there is an issue with using this on Windows causing Silva 0.8.6 now to work properly there. We are working on a fix and hope to have it out soon. Get silva at the usual place: http://www.zope.org/Members/faassen/Silva be sure to read the upgrade notes. You also need new versions of Formulator and XMLWidgets. Regards, Martijn

Three leading Swiss Zope companies establish the SwissZope Association

On October 18th 2002, the three leading Swiss Zope companies, 4teamwork (4teamwork.ch), Projekt01 GmbH (projekt01.ch), and redCOR AG (redcor.ch) have founded the SwissZope, the Association of Swiss Zope Business Partners. The association is located in Berne, Switzerland. The web address is www.swisszope.org. SwissZope promotes Zope in Switzerland and provides a network of skilled Zope developers. SwissZope will organize periodic events, the SwissZope Apéros. Developers, users, decision makers, and IT Professionals are invited to discuss Zope topics with the SwissZope experts. At the Aperos, several Zope related presentations or tutorials will be held. Zope Training -- A Technical Introduction ------------------------------------------ Zope Corporation will hold the first public session of 2003 this January 27-30 at our headquarters in Fredericksburg, VA. This four day course will familiarize students with Zope software from introductory through advanced topics. We will demonstrate the flexibility and effectiveness of Zope as an Open Source web development and content management environment. We will also explore Zope architecture and provide hands-on exercises using Zope to develop and manage a robust web site. Attendees will have several opportunities to meet with Zope's engineering teams as well as share ideas over lunch with Jim Fulton (CTO) and Guido van Rossum (Director of PythonLabs). Course Objectives: After completing this course students will understand: - Zope's use of objects, methods, etc. - Zope's Management Interface. - Zope's server-side scripting language (DTML). - Page Templates. - Web site content creation and management. - Web site security through user privileges and roles. - Using Zope to integrate web sites with existing + relational databases. - Downloading/installing a Zope Product. - Introduction to CMF. The course is intended for those interested in using a full-featured open source environment to develop and manage robust corporate internet or intranet web sites. CMFForum 1.0 Released

CMF Forum is a simple implementation of a Forum based on CMF. It was inspired by ZDiscussions and enhanced with community feedback. Strip-o-Gram 1.2 Released!

Strip-o-Gram is an HTML Conversion Library implemented as a Python package that can convert HTML to Plain Text and strip specified tags and Javascript from HTML. DBTab 1.0 released

FSCacheManager

FSCacheManager is a new Cache Manager for Zope that works in conjuction with most Web servers, its specifically aimed at Apache and IIS. It cache's your objects on the file system so that your web server can serve out static content nice and fast without ever bothering your Zope. ZooDocument 1.3 released

Hello, I am releasing ZooDocument 1.3. ZooDocument is a Zope product that integrates OpenOffice.org documents into ZPT based Zope sites. ZooDocument uses the pluggable XSLT processor architecture from XMLTransform. It can use any XSLT processor that is supported by XMLTransform. You may download XMLTransform at http://www.zope.org/Members/arielpartners/XMLTransform Among other things, this release finally solves the _v_program error bug many people reported. Those XSLT processors which aborted requiring a DTD file before work now as well. Thanks to everybody who reported those bugs to me. Please update if you're already using ZooDocument. DZUG Call for papers In march 2003 the German Zope usergroup (DZUG) will have it's second meeting and conference. Our intend is to bring together Zope users and developers. There will be two tracks featuring talks, workshops and discussions which will be interesting for both beginners and experts. Therefor we are looking for people that would like to give us the privilege to listen to him (or her) on giving a talk or workshop. Of course it's your choice of topic. We try to present a variety of topics from "ZPT for beginners", "Product development" up to "Zope 3 hacking" and maybe some case studies.
