The CMF developer community is hereby announcing the release of CMF version 2.1.0-alpha. What is the CMF? The Zope Content Management Framework provides a set of services and content objects useful for building highly dynamic, content-oriented portal sites. The CMF provides the foundation for popular software packages such as Plone. It is intended to be easily customizable, in terms of both the types of content used and the policies and services it provides. Where do I get it? New Features - CMFDefault utils: Added getBrowserCharset function. Returns the charset preferred by the browser. Strings encoded with this charset are decoded correctly by Five.browser.decode.processInputs. - Content: Added IFactory utilities for all content classes. They are now used by default instead of the old constructor methods. - FactoryTypeInformation: Added support for Zope3 style factories. If the 'product' property of a type info instance is empty the 'factory' property is interpreted as an IFactory name. Bug Fixes - CMFCore.ActionInformation: don't use a fixed set of properties for ActionInformation. (http://www.zope.org/Collectors/CMF/232/) - CMFCore.CatalogTool: Use current executable's proxy roles, if any, in place of user's roles when computing 'allowedRolesAndUsers' for a query. (http://www.zope.org/Collectors/CMF/380) Others - skins: Changed encoding of translated portal_status_messages. Now getBrowserCharset is used to play nice with Five forms. Customized setRedirect and getMainGlobals scripts have to be updated. - FSFile: Added registration for 'txt' extension. - Profiles: All profiles are now registered by ZCML. - ZClasses: Removed unmaintained support for ZClasses. Marked the 'initializeBases*' methods as deprecated. - Content: All content classes are now registered by ZCML. ContentInit is still used to register oldstyle constructors. - Favorite: Added 'handleFavoriteAddedEvent' subscriber. This replaces the 'manage_afterAdd' hook and some code in 'addFavorite'. - CMFCatalogAware: Added 'handleObjectEvent' subscriber. This replaces the deprecated 'manage_afterAdd', 'manage_afterClone' and 'manage_beforeDelete' hooks. - setup handlers: Removed support for CMF 1.5 CMFSetup profiles.

Silva 1.6b4 released

Infrae has just released version 1.6 of the Silva content management system. This release incorporates a range of infrastructural changes that support upcoming extensions, enhanced import/export functionality, and user interface improvements. Some of the changes: * Silva now uses ZCML for registration of Silva extensions and the content types they define. See doc/extension.txt for more information. See also doc/developer_changes.txt. * Many i18n changes: - New languages - i18n fixes * Lots of bugfixes See HISTORY.txt in the Silva core package for more information about changes and bugfixes in Silva 1.6. For developer-level changes in Silva, see doc/developer_changes. What is Silva? Silva is an enterprise-class CMS for managing content for the web, print, and other media. Content is stored in clean and future-proof XML, independent of layout and presentation. Features include a multi-version workflow system, XSLT rendering support, integral WYSIWYG editor (Kupu), content reuse in multiple publications, sophisticated access management, extensive import/export facilities, fine-grained templating, and hi-res image storage and manipulation. On behalf of the Zope 3 development team I have just released Zope 3.2.2, a bugfix release for the 3.2.x line. Downloads --------- http://zope.org/Products/Zope3/3.2.2 Installation instructions for both Windows and Un*x/Linux are now available in the top level README.txt file of the distribution. The binary installer, which will be uploaded soon, is recommended for Windows. Zope 3.2 requires Python 2.4.1 to run. You must also have zlib installed on your system. Zope 3.3.0 released!

On behalf of the Zope 3 development team I'm proud to announce the final Zope 3.3.0 release. There were no changes since the 3.3.0 release candidate. Zope 3 is the next major Zope release and has been written from scratch based on the latest software design patterns and the experiences of Zope 2. Cleanup of the Zope 3 packages has continued to ensure a flexible and scalable platform. We continued the work on making the transition from Zope 2 to Zope 3 by making Zope 2.10 use even more of the Zope 3 packages. But the transition is far from complete yet. **You can't run Zope 2 applications in Zope 3.** Downloads --------- http://www.zope.org/Products/Zope3 Installation instructions for both Windows and Un*x/Linux are now available in the top level README.txt file of the distribution. The binary installer is recommended for Windows. Zope 3.3 requires Python 2.4.1 to run, Python 2.4.3 is recommended. It does **NOT** work with Python 2.5 yet. You must also have zlib installed on your system. Most Important Changes Since Zope 3.2 ------------------------------------- - Provided a new component registry API that allows multiple component registries to be combined more flexibly than before. See 'zope.component.interfaces.IComponentRegistry' for more information. - Greatly simplified local-component registration. See 'zope.component.interfaces.IComponentRegistry' for more information. - Moved many packages out of zope.app to make them easier to use outside of Zope. - Change the session credentials plugin to make it configurable in which fields it looks for the credentials. - Added a new API for collating text. You can now adapt a locale to 'zope.i18n.interfaces.ILocales.ICollator'. You can then use that to sort strings, such as menu entries, in a locale-specific fashion. - A new 'zope.annotation.factory' helper function that makes it easier to create annotations. Also added a README in 'zope.annotation' which explains how to use it. - Added a more complete set of widgets for fields that use iterable sources. These widgets now mirror the set provided by vocabulary-based fields. - Added a cleaner and more robust API to testbrowser for setting file-upload data. - Deprecated several ZCML directives: * factory * vocabulary * content (as an alias to the class directive) * modulealias * renderer:renderer - The 'browser:layer' directive and the 'ILayer' interface has been deprecated. Registering layers has become obsolete, layers should be created as interfaces extending 'IBrowserRequest'. - The 'browser:skin' directive has been deprecated. Skins should be created as interfaces extending 'IBrowserRequest' and can be registered using a simple 'utility' directive. - The 'ISkin' interface has been renamed to 'IBrowserSkinType'. sx.translations 1.0 Released!

This package provides components for use with Zope 3 and Zope 2 + Five that implement both ITranslationDomain and ILanguageAvailability as well as supporting the recording of untranslated msgids.
