CPS 3.0.3 released featuring major speed improvements CPS 3.0.3 (stable branch) has been released today featuring minor bugfixes and major speed improvements in the search algorithm (backported from the devel branch). Please read the CHANGES below if you want to upgrade from a CPS 3.0.x installation. Requires: * WARNING I: search.py return brains instead of proxies, if you use search.py you must use getObject() to get the proxy from a brain * getContentInfo.py has been modified to handle brains if you have customize this script you need to propagate this change. New features: * Backport of CPS3.1.x search optimisation * CPSSkins 2.0rc1 is included Bug fixes: * #333: folder_localrole_form is accessible without authentication. "Change permissions" permission is now required, as for the action. * Protect the underneath search script the same way. * Fix behaviour of folder_localrole_form under IE when typing Enter for submitting (Partly closes #209). Thanks to Vincent Fiack. * After registering, change GET authentication link to POST button, thus avoiding having the password appearing in the URL. * Make Localizer changes absolute to portal (Thanks J.-M. Orliaguet). * Add a button to change language if you don't have Javascript (usability bug). AdvancedQuery is a Zope product for flexible queries against "ZCatalog" or "CatalogTool". Queries can be arbitrarily combined with "and", "or" and "not". All index types are almost fully supported (exception: relevance sorting of TextIndexes). AdvancedQuery supports efficient incremental (lazy) multi-level sorting via FieldIndexes. This means, you can sort via e.g. "sort_on=(('Date','desc'), 'portal_type', 'id')". For large result sets, sorting is performed incrementally, only as far as you access the result. This can drastically speed up sorting time. AdvancedQuery is especially efficient for "ManagableIndex"es (see: <http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope#ManagableIndex>). New in version 0.2: * optimization of descending sorting using new "ManagableIndex" features. ManagableIndex is a flexible indexing framework. It comes with managable field, keyword and efficient range indexes. I am pleased to announce the release of PloneCollectorNG 1.2.0 a2 (PCNG) PloneCollectorNG is a Plone-based bugtracking solution and framework. Changes in V 1.2.0 alpha 3: - further UI work - issues submitted by anonymous users are now show with owner "Anonymous User" instead of the owner ID of the PCNG instance - dropping support for portal_factory (too fragile). New issues are now created inside temporary folder and moved into the PCNG instance folder after the first form has been filled and submitted. - transcript entries can now be edited if you have the corresponding permission - added new metadata fields "numberUploads" and "numberReferences" to pcng_catalog. **WARNING**: you need to update the catalog of every PCNG instance by choosing "Recreate tools" from the maintenance section of your PCNG instances. After recreating the tools you need to "Reindex all issues". Otherwise you will get KeyErrors or AttributeErrors. - fixed AT 1.3a2+ glitches - Archetypes 1.3b1 is now the minimal requirement - improved portlet integration - slightly reorganized the configuration view - most tables replaced with DIVs - some actions did not show up in the portlets if not logged in as Manager - SchemaEditor: special characters in the vocabulary are now treated more safe - Email notifications: "NoneType has no 'lower' Attribute" error fixed - major UI changes - see also the release notes for Version 1.2.0 a1 (and in any case you have to uninstall and reinstall PCNG through the Quickinstaller or the Plone setup -> Add/Remove products) WARNING: - PERFORM A FULL BACKUP FOR YOUR Data.fs ***BEFORE INSTALLING*** PCNG Volunteers wanted: PloneCollectorNG is fully internationalized. ======================== Kupu 1.1 beta 1 released ======================== 22 May 2004 The Kupu Team is pround to announce the first beta release of Kupu 1.1. After the 1.0.3 release, which was the first one to carry the new name and license, the new version brings new, long-awaited features. What is Kupu? ------------- Kupu is a client-side JavaScript What You See Is What You Get (WYSIWYG) editor. It works in both Mozilla and Internet Explorer based browsers (including Netscape 7) and produces well-formed XHTML. Kupu is object oriented and designed to be customizable and extensible. Where to download ----------------- You can find the release tarball at http://kupu.oscom.org/download/ What is new in Kupu 1.1? ------------------------ o Templates for different systems are now generated using an XML/XSLT-based templating system. The system is completely extendable and customizable, thus allowing third-party developers to integrate Kupu in their application even easier. o Configuration of the editor instance is now done using embedded XML, instead of non-standard attributes on the iframe element. This makes it not-only standard-compliant, it is also much easier to extend the set of configuration directives. o Some core functionality is now covered by unit tests, based on the JavaScript testing framework ECMAUnit. This has helped to improve the code quality in JavaScript environments tremendously. o A new way of inserting images and linking to documents were implemented: library drawers. Drawers are windows that open up inside the browser without invoking a browser popup. Library drawers load information about linkable/insertable objects from the server via standardized XML. That makes them indepentend of any target platform. o Stateful buttons now indicate when the cursor is inside text that is bold, underlined, etc. o Apart from ordered and unordered lists, Kupu also now supports adding HTML definition lists. o A cross-browser selection API was implemented to allow manipulation of a document's arbitrary elements using selections and cursors. o Access key functionality was added. o The Silva integration has been improved a lot. This is the first release with complete Silva support. o Integration into Plone has been completely rewritten. It now features a complete server-side implementation of the drawers while providing basic support for the WYSIWYG editor API. What to expect from Kupu in the future? --------------------------------------- For the final 1.1 release, we hope to mainly improve some of the UI aspects. For the more distant future, we hope to make our editor compliant with ATAG, the W3C's standard for editor accessability. On the technical side of things, we are working on completing editor configuration and initialization through XML as well as the cross-browser selection API. We hope to make more and more components available as separate packages, such as ECMAUnit by Guido Wesdorp or the great Sarissa cross-browser library by Manos Batsis. Zope X3 3.0.0 alpha 1 released

Dear Zope community, The Zope 3 development team is proud to announce the first alpha release of Zope X3 3.0.0. Zope X3 is the next major Zope release and has been written from scratch based on the latest software design patterns and the experiences of Zope 2. The "X" in the name stands for "experimental", since this release does not try to provide any backward-compatibility to Zope 2. Download http://zope.org/Products/ZopeX3 Distribution This release only requires Python 2.3.3 to run. Here are the steps envolved to get the tarball release working (will be later added to a readme file): - Unpack the release using:: tar xozf ZopeX3-3.0.0a1.tgz - Enter the new, unpacked directory and configure it:: ./configure --prefix=<zope-dir> You might also need the '--with-python=<Python executable>', if your Python is not in a standard path. - Execute 'make' and 'make install'. - Enter the 'zope' directory and create an instance:: bin/mkzopeinstance -d<instance dir> -u<username>:<password> - Enter the instance directory and try to run zope using 'bin/runzope'. Features Some of the new features include: - Zope 3 uses now ZODB 3.3. - Implementation of multi-adapters and multi-views. Instead of adapting only from one interface to another, one can now adapt many interfaces to another. - Preconditions and constraints on methods are supported now. This allows one to specify the type of objects a container can contain, for example. - Broken objects are now supported, when a particular class of an object is not found anymore. - An API documentation tool was added to provide full online documentation of the public APIs and ZCML. Once Zope 3 has been started, it is accessible under: http://localhost:8080/++apidoc++/ - A stateful tree implementation was added. It makes a lot of use of the component architecture and is therefore extremly flexible and configurable. - Implemented "Tools", an UI concept similar to the CMF that allows the developer to be more task oriented. - The Undo mechanism was reworked. - The concept of usage was removed. - The widget and form code has been simplified and multi-item fields/widgets are now easier to use. - Support for sessions was added. - The entire source tree was flattened.
