Call Profiler - profile your Zope website ekit.com is proud to announce the first release of their profiling tool for Zope websites. Version 1.4 cleans up the display of results (significantly in some places) and also cleans up the data store. This will be the last release for a while, I hope :) The Call Profiler product monitors the chain of DTML, ZSQL, ZPT, PythonMethod, PythonScript, etc. calls in a Zope request and gathers timing information, for the purpose of identifying hot-spots for potential optimisation. RELEASED - StandaloneZODB 1.0 final

I'm please to announce the release of StandaloneZODB, the Python object persistency system also known as the Z Object Database. ZODB is the object-oriented database underlying Zope; the StandaloneZODB project's goal is to provide those same facilities to non-Zope related Python applications. Today we are releasing StandaloneZODB 1.0 final. A brief description of the changes since release candidate 1 is outlined below. StandaloneZODB is based on the same code as the ZODB in Zope, albeit on a separate release branch. Its inspiration comes from Andrew Kuchling's StandaloneZODB project on SourceForge. While there are still some differences, the Standalone 1.0 release is the first on the path toward convergence. Subsequent releases should complete the merge of Andrew's and Zope Corporation's packages. The StandaloneZODB release includes the following components: - Core ZODB, including the persistence machinery - Standard storages such as FileStorage - Supporting modules such as ExtensionClass - The persistent BTrees modules - ZEO - Experimental Berkeley storages - Some documentation <wink> See the README file for details on building and installing StandaloneZODB. For details on using ZODB, see Andrew's included user guide. StandaloneZODB 1.0 is released under the ZPL 2.0. It should be compatible with all Python versions from Python 2.1 to Python 2.2. Some improvements in setup.py and test.py for sites that don't have the Berkeley libraries installed. A new program, zeoup.py was added which simply verifies that a ZEO server is reachable. Also, a new program zeopack.py was added which connects to a ZEO server and packs it.

ImportNTGroups 1.0 released

The first version of ImportNTGroups, a product that imports all the groups you have defined in your NT domain as Zope roles, has been released. ImportNTGroups works together with jcNTUserFolder. If you create a jcNTUserFolder, all the users you have defined in your NT domain appear automatically. With this product, all this imported NT users are automatically assigned the roles of the groups they belong to, and when you want to change the permissions of any Zope object, all the groups appear as roles too. Version 1.2 adds aggregation of identical runs - use ApacheBench or a similar tool to hit your site multiple times, then view the aggregate all those runs (average or min/average/max). New version of ZCGI

Version 1.1.0 of ZCGI is now available. ZCGI is designed to bridge the gap between traditional web design, and Zope. In a traditional web environment, if you want server-side processing, you write/buy/borrow a CGI-BIN script, put it in a folder that supports the CGI-BIN protocol, and then call it from a link or form on one of your HTML pages. ZCGI was originally designed to do just this, and allow people to slowly move from CGI-BIN to Zope External Methods, Python Scripts, or Python Products, but as the project has progressed, and especially after I released 1.0.0 I realized that there are a LOT of excellant CGI-BIN products out there, and it is simply not feasable to have users or authors transition to fully Zope execution (http://cvs.zope.org and uses an excellant CGI-BIN called viewcvs). So, instead of simply making the transition to Zope easier, I have now focused on making as many (Often badly written, or only marginally conformant) CGI-BIN scripts as possible able to run directly under Zope. This release gets MUCH closer with the addition of reliable handling of PATH_INFO and redirects among many other changes. Hi all, The CMF-based new.zope.org is ready for a second and probably final round of tirekicking by the Zope community. Please have a good poke about on: http://new.zope.org Zope Corp has worked on the software, and we believe that it is now ready for the community to take over, but we do want you to go around and try things out first, and most of all file reports about problems you find, so we can make a last round of fixes. Note that in this process we have completely cleared out the old new.zope.org database, and re-migrated all content from www.zope.org again, so you will not find anything there you previously may have created on this site. Also, the user database from www.zope.org has been re-exported, so all new accounts created just for new.zope.org are gone as well. New accounts on www.zope.org are now of course available on new.zope.org as well.
