Hello, In the story "track them all down", two other examples of harcoded expiring date for cookies: lib/python/OFS/DTMLMethod.py lib/python/Shared/ZRDB/DA.py I wonder... in lib/python/Products/OFSP/Session.py, the expiring date for the cookie is commented out. According to the specs, this mean that the cookie expires when you close the browser. Does this mean that a session last only until the browser is closed? The information about the open session must be stored elsewhere. IE 3.x has a bug in the handling of TEXTAREA tag: *everything* that is between <textarea> and </textarea> belongs to the field. lib/python/OFS/documentEdit.dtml reads: <textarea /* various stuff deleted */> </textarea> An extra line is added to anything being edited. So it should be written: <textarea /* various stuff deleted */></textarea> For the lazy ones, a patch is included. Regards, Jephte CLAIN Service Informatique CHSR

notes on running a zope in readonly mode.

Ok, so I've started playing with running zope in readonly mode. (background: I want to run multiple zopes in parallel, with only one with read-write access to the database. This gives a sort of brutal concurrency, since the changing data is all off in an SQL database (well, ok, in 3 different databases, but let's not get into that)). There's the ZOPE_READ_ONLY environment flag which seems to do the trick - but it _appears_ that the zope application that is then created will not pick up changes to the bobobase without being kicked in the head and restarted. just in case anyone else was wondering... more when I have the loadbalancing working.

Acquiring DTML Methods in context of DTML Document

I have a pair of DTML methods, say: manage_foo -- displays a form with foo's properties update_foo -- target of manage_foo's SUBMIT; which I would like to apply to a set of DTML Documents which exist in the same directory: Foo1, Foo2. The URL, .../foostuff/Foo1/manage_foo hurls, whereas if I put  in the body of the document, it works fine. Info on BTree

Has anyone figured out how to use BTree and Searching yet? I've glanced through the Confera code and looks like I can use it like a Dictionary but I'm not sure. I don't have the time for experimentation at the moment so I figured I would take the lazy route and just ask... Hi, As I am new to Zope, I hope I will not offend the people on the list if this question has been asked before. Does the Zope development platform support Enterprise Javabean Specs (1.0)? Don't get me wrong. As I am still evaluating Zope, I am very impressed with the features that Zope offers but would like to consider interoperating it with other EJB compliant frameworks like BEA WebLogic, etc. rdgs umun

Vairable Query of TinyTables

Friends, Humans, Zopians..lend me your ears: Has anyone had any luck inserting a variable into the "query" string of TinyTables. A thousand thanks to Ty Sarna for the Product by the way! Trying to customize documents based on user. A User object has no extra info, so I put the extra static properties into a TinyTable and want to get them out base on who is loged in. By variable query I mean for example:   <br>   Believe it or not, it doesn't choke, it just gives me nothing. I alos tried this   <br>   but that choked and there is no traceback in the HTML source. Setting/Creating variables

I posted something similar to the zope list, but this is a different message, so don't skip it, you probably haven't read it already! =) I have been playing around with Zope/ZPublisher/DocumentTemplate and have been extremely pleased with the ease of development, as well as the power of the Python language. Sometimes I have found myself wanting to save the results of an expression in my DTML code, for use later in the same page (or even an embedded DTML object). The only thing I have used that is similar to DTML is ColdFusion, which has a CFSET tag, ie: <cfset myvar = "test"> or <cfset total = subtotal * tax> After being pointed to the FAQ, I can see the recommended way to do this is  This is pretty ugly looking IMHO, and not really in the spirit of Zope, since DTML is supposed to be elegant and simple. (at least that was my impression of DTML's goals) I understand that having a #set command that adds values to the REQUEST object would be difficult, since you don't actually have to pass in a REQUEST to a Template when you call it. It's been a while since I've read the CF manuals, but I remember it having three or more namespaces, including: request/system variables, user defined variables, database query variables... It would be nice if a user defined variables namespace could be created inside a template (and attached to REQUEST if available?), and passed on to any embedded DTML calls. Then inside DTML documents there could be a set command, similar to:  or   (I'm not sure which syntax would be more in the spirit of DTML) The lifespan of the variables should only be that of the current request, they should not be attached to a session, or have any effect on any other REQUEST's variables. Anyways, I wanted to bounce this idea off of the Digicool people, and other long-time Zope users to find out if this is a good thing or a bad thing. It seems like something that needs to be done IMHO, because Zope are trying to appeal to ColdFusion users, many of which are looking for something easy to develop in, without having to learn Python. And something like REQUEST.set(var, val) might look a lot like programming to them. -james [] James A. Identifying the browser

I'm writing a product which relies on tables to present data. Obviously, this won't work very well in Lynx. Does anybody have a colletion of routines for answering questions like: "Does the user's browser support tables, or should I format everything using PRE?" Cheers, Eric
