Zope2 monitoring

I'm trying to figure out what the current state of the art for monitoring Zope2 processes is. Ideally I'ld want the equivalent of zc.z3monitor. I figured the medua monitorserver would be a good start, but judging by the facts that it can only deal with clear-text passwords while the rest of Zope uses hashed passwords and anything unexpected, such as using command that produces a lot of output such as locals(), breaks the whole session makes me suspect that nobody is using that. What do other people use? Is there any interest in improving the medusa monitor server? Buildout Builder: Call for Ideas.

All, My name is Kenneth Miller and I am a student of Electronics Engineering Technology at the University of Houston. My proposal for the buildout builder has been selected for the Google Summer of Code program. You can read my proposal, a list of general deliverables and a development schedule at xkenneth.blogspot.com. I feel that from my experience with buildout and Plone, that I have a good but general idea of what the Buildout Builder should be. I know what I expect of it, but as I begin the in depth planning of this project I'd like to know what the community expects of it. Any and all feedback is appreciated and I will carefully consider every idea. My goal is to prepare a detailed list of key features and development goals in order to ensure that my time is spent as efficiently as possible and that the community gets the quality project they deserve. Annoying: Download error: unknown url type: svn -- Some packages may not be found!

Which package is emitting the Download error: unknown url type: svn -- Some packages may not be found! Its quite annoying and I have been seeing it crop up in a few builds. Anyone else seeing this. Many thanks. Regards, David

buildout and extends on https

Hi there, Trying to move the KGS to our local server. Seems like buildout cannot "extends=" a cfg file that is on an https server. Seems like it loads extensions (like lovely.buildouthttp for authenticated http requests) later than it tries to read the "extends=" files. zope.app.locales i18nmergeall.py not used anymore?

Hi, zope/app/locales/TRANSLATE.txt says: ... After that, you need to merge those changes to all existing translations. You can do that by executing the ``i18nmergeall.py`` script from the ``utilities`` directory of your Zope 3 checkout: $ python utilities/i18nmergeall.py -l src/zope/app/locales So I tried that and found that in the 13 po files that are present, over 80 thousand lines were changed (counting all lines in an svn diff). Since the files combined have about 100 thousand lines, this could be called a fairly big change. :) So: is there a reason this merging is not regularly done anymore? Or can I just go ahead and submit those 80 thousand lines? Perhaps the zope.pot file should also be updated. I get an error when trying that though. Non-ASCII characters in URLs

Hi, Is there a good technical explanation for why Zope doesn't allow non-ASCII characters in URLs? I'd like to be able to let URLs work like this example from Wikipedia: http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/メインページ When I try adding an object with ID "メインページ" in Zope 2, I get the following error message: Error Type: BadRequest Error Value: The id "&#12513;&#12452;&#12531;&#12506;&#12540;&#12472;" contains characters illegal in URLs. Is there a fundamental reason (ie. Python objects can only be ASCII) or is it simply bugs that need to be fixed? Curiously yours, -- Alexander Limi · http://limi.net

Hi, We use monit - it has the advantage that you can specify resource limits and if/when zope breaches these (or it barfs), monit auto-restarts the server ;) Alan
