Resize a image stored in a Oracle's BLOB Field

Hello, Thanks, I have displayed the images which them was stored in a Oracle's BLOB field, with: <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.setHeader('content-type','image/jpeg')"> <dtml-in SQLMethod_with_a_Only_Row> <dtml-var expr="BLOB_FIELD.read()"> </dtml-in> However, I would like to resize this image. I can not do it with the "height" and "width" attributes, because the image is obtained from a Oracle's BLOB field, and no from image object (i.e.: I can not use <dtml-var "ImageObject.tag(border='5', align='left')">). How can I do it ? Thanks again !

As a side effect to turn off acquisition, you defined the attribute. This will not play well with inheritance: You will not only prevent acquisition of "index_html" but also prevent inheritance of it (which may be really necessary in some contexts). Dieter

Acquisition/cDocumentTemplate bug

Recently, several posters have reported strange "AttributeError __call__" exceptions. The most precise was a report by Oleg Broytmann: /index_html DTML Document <dtml-var standard_html_header> /standard_html_header DTML Method <dtml-with sub></dtml-with> /sub Folder When he calls "/sub/index_html", he gets this "AttributeError __call__" for "sub". He observed the problem on Zope 2.1.4 and 2.2a4. I partially analysed this problem report under Zope 2.1.6: In "MM_cget", "sub" is retrieved as an "ImplicitAcquirerWrapper" (correct). In line 373, however, "PyCallable_Check(sub)" returned "1", which is probably wrong, because a folder is not callable. The "ImplicitAcquirerWrapper"'s "tp_call" mislead "PyCallable_Check". In line 376, the attribute "py_isDocTemp" is looked up and succeeds. Therefore, the folder "sub" is seen as a Document Template, which definitely is not true. The following call fails because it arrives at CallMethodO in "Acquisition.c:119" which looks for a non-excisting "__call__" method. Dieter

ZPatterns: DropZone example

Hi folks, I've been looking at the DropZone example Phillip Eby provided on the ZPatterns Wiki. http://www.zope.org/Members/pje/Wikis/ZPatterns/DropZoneExample I've decided to start implementing it, so as to give myself an educational experience in using ZPatterns. I have an open question: The suggested specialists in the Accounting framework are: Invoices Orders Customers Products What I'm finding is that these are just the White-box specialists. A clean design would seem to want all the specialists above, plus at least one Black-box specialist to do the "heavy lifting. Let's call it the "AccountingProcessor" specialist. Now, if I had a third-party accounts package (something by Sage perhaps), I could make the AccountingProcessor specialist expose various functions to the four other White-box specialists. It would implement these by making equivalent calls on the underlying accounting package. I could also swap the heavy-lifting portion of my framework by swapping the black-box AccountingProcessor specialist for one that talks to some software by Quicken, or perhaps some software that is written in Python as a conventional Zope product. The same goes for the Resource Scheduling framework. We have some White-box specialists, ripe for customisation: Resources Reservations ResourceUsers And then for the heavy-lifting we have the black-box ResourceScheduler specialist. Again, this might be a Zope Python Product, or it might be an interface to some application written on top of Microsoft Exchange. Are specialists intended to be placed inside other specialists, as "contents"? So in this case, would the white-box specialists live inside the black-box specialist -- so they become the customisable aspects of the overall framework? Acquisition Confusion :S

Hi Jim, (or any zope-dev'ers who can explain this ;-) I've just been reading: http://www.zope.org/Members/jim/Info/IPC8/AcquisitionAlgebra ...and I've got confused on the 'Getting the containment wrapper' section. In anser to 'What is A.B.C.D?' I can't see how you can get: ((D o (C o A)) o (B o A)) Here's my working: A.B.C.D = (B o A) : .C.D = ((C o A) o (B o A)) : .D = ((D o C) o ((C o A) o (B o A))) You can't apply the simplification: ((Z o Y) o (Y o Z)) to the leftmost section 'cos the brackets are in the wrong place... so how to you make the jump to: = ((D o (C o A)) o (B o A)) (but should it?!) Also, is the definition "aq_inner is obtained by finding the innermost wrapped object" the same as "aq_inner is the 'self'/'object' part of the current aquisiton wrapper"? Shane, would the argument list be a management tab for methods? That sounds cool to me :-) I reckon 'self' should always be the equivalent of the python 'self' or not exist to avoid confusion. I guess that means it wouldn't get used much since it would be the actual method-object (and I thought that was an oxymoron ;-) but with the possibility opf things like __render__ and __call__, who knows... The argument list would be great, 'cos you could then be able to specify additional arguments of type 'binding' which might be any of the following from you list: (select by dropdown? ;-) > Bind to the object containing a method, > Bind to the object that acquired a method, and possibly > Bind to the object containing the method in the context of the object that acquired the method, and maybe even > When a method is defined in a ZClass, bind to the instance in such a way that attribute lookup is performed in the baseclasses of the class defining the method (aka bind to "super"). So you could get to any or all of those as you need in your method. Of course, new users wouldn't have to worry about this until they needed to do something that used it. The other option would be to have these automatically bound to certain names (like _ is now) but perhaps that would be more confusing? Thoughts and comments would be great :-) cheers, Chris

[Zope] App isolation

Not sure if this list is the best place to put such question but here it is... I need to develop what would be a product if only Zope was the target. As it´s not I was thinking what could I do to not need to build such app twice: I came to 2 options both involving building a server of some kind and using Python to connect to this server. 1st Build the app as a COM server (the target OS is Windows) and using Python support build an interface to this COM server as a Zope product 2nd Build the app as a XMLRPC server and using Python support build an interface to this XMLRPC server The second options is better because I´m not attached to any platform but, as I said, that´s not an issue right now. Good options would be having a JVM running "inside" Zope so that jave objects could be accessed by it or SOAP Zope support beeing ready... Any sugestions on any of those or a 3rd option ? ZOracle LOB Questions

Hello! i have Oracle 8.1.6 ZOracleDA 2.2 installed with Zope 2.1.6 on a red hat linux machine. i have an oracle table with one column containing blobs. Now i have the following problems: 1. How can i retrieve data from that table in zope or in python (syntax) ? 2. Changes.txt: Z Oracle DA Releases 2.2.0 Added a small feature that allows you to access LOBs in the Oracle database. To do this, you must have your maximum number of results set to '1'.
