runzope vs zopectl

Hi, I have a stange problem that I can't solve : I work on Suse 9.0, Zope 2.7.6, Plone 2.0.5 and ZMySQLDA 2.0.8 (+mysql module 1.2.0). When I start my zope server with ./runzope : my database connections on my Mysql Server are opened correctly but when I start with ./zopectl start, the connections are closed and I can't open them manually too. When I start with zopectl , and I tried to open a connector , Zope say me: Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. OperationalError Sorry, a site error occurred. RFC: Use Zope 3's protection system in Zope 2

I think that the proposed change would provide very significan't benefits, although it also presents some risks. I'm looking for volunteers to help make this happen, peferably this fall. close() in ZODB

Hello, I'm currently hacking the ZODB, and I've found that the close() method in DB.py which call close() on FileStorage is never called. Is this a bug ?

Event & Timer Service for Zope 2.8

I noticed there was a thread last month on an event service for Zope. Did that reach any conclusion? From what I can see the present products are: - http://www.zope.org/Members/lstaffor/Xron - Zope 2.6 only, not being developed - http://zope.org/Members/naumen/NauScheduler - shipped with one of the Zope CMS's works fine with 2.7 - http://dev.legco.biz/products/ZopeScheduler and http://dev.legco.biz/products/timerservice - works fine with 2.7 too - http://cvs.zope.org/Products/Event/ - event service without a time service, not sure of development status - http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope-cmf/2005-January/021747.html - Dieter's project to be based on Python's sched module - http://api.nuxeo.org/CPS3/public/ CPSCore.EventServiceTool.EventServiceTool-class.html - CPS's event service - http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/*checkout*/mailmanager/ mailmanager/MailCheckThread.py?rev=1.15 - our custom scheduler for MailManager - Zope X3's event service It would be great to some consolidation of all of this into the core. I would also strongly favour a timer service along with the event service. I know that the argument has always been that operating systems provide time services but this is not very convenient for cross platform development and on some Windows platforms it's difficult. Reg Zope service starting problem

Dear All, I try to install Zope 2.7.0 in my machine. This version is installed successfully but after the installation I try to run zope service using runzope command. But I got below error. I am using gobolinux and Python 2.3.3 for this zope version. I try to install some other zope version eg (2.7.6,2.8.0 and 3.0.0) all the different version of zope have the same problem. Kindly let me know what is the problem of zope installation. Actually I try to start zope service from the zope instance's bin directory. Indeed, it does work for some people, but I've personally witnessed some very intelligent folks spending hours on problems created by misuse of Refresh. Maybe this is attributable to documentation. At the time Refresh was created, Zope products were generally simpler and didn't have any run-time registries. Refresh is now less reliable mainly because products are more sophisticated. Shane

Listing a groups users via Python and portal_groups

Hi guys, I'm trying to work on a function call using Python that will list the users of any specified group using the function portal_groups. I've been able to successfully do this the opposite way by getting the users groups via portal_membership: portal.portal_membership.getAuthenticatedMember().getGroups() Which will return all groups this user is associated with. So I've been testing using portal_groups with function calls similar to this: portal.portal_groups.getGroupById("staff").getUsers() Where "staff" is the name of the group. This almost does what I need, but not quite close enough because it lists all groups and all users. Any suggestions or help is greatly appreciated! Running unit tests, LOGging errors

Using Zope 2.8 when I run the unit tests (bin/zopectl test ...) from a checkout ("make instance"), I have none of the LOGged errors appearing in the ouput. However if instead I use "make" then mkzopeinstance with another directory, running the tests make the errors appear in the output. There are no other differences in my setup.
