Resize a image stored in a Oracle's BLOB Field

Hello, Thanks, I have displayed the images which them was stored in a Oracle's BLOB field, with: <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.setHeader('content-type','image/jpeg')"> <dtml-in SQLMethod_with_a_Only_Row> <dtml-var expr="BLOB_FIELD.read()"> </dtml-in> However, I would like to resize this image. I can not do it with the "height" and "width" attributes, because the image is obtained from a Oracle's BLOB field, and no from image object (i.e.: I can not use <dtml-var "ImageObject.tag(border='5', align='left')">). How can I do it ? Thanks again !

As a side effect to turn off acquisition, you defined the attribute. This will not play well with inheritance: You will not only prevent acquisition of "index_html" but also prevent inheritance of it (which may be really necessary in some contexts). Dieter

Wiki Pain

Since the beginning of this year DC have moved alot of debate and discussion out of mailing lists, and in to Wikis. http://www.zope.org/WikiCentral/FrontPage lists most Zope Wikis. Does anyone else find Wikis to be far less convenient than a good old mailing list? Ive been annoyed by the following characteristics: 1. No threading. On several occasions I have made comments in a Wiki that were subsequently ignored - I guess because they got lost in the mass of other edits. Recently people have been adding edits to the end of the page: This makes it easier to keep track of changes, but harder to catch up on a discussion when you come to it for the first time. 2. No personal replies. On several occasions I would have liked to email a comment personally to another contributer, but they didnt leave an email address. 3. No update notification. The one time I was update to keep up with a Wiki discussion involved the other participant always manually emailing a change notification. 4. Hard to keep track of many Wikis: Each wiki has its own 'whats changed' page, but even those are too coarse. 5. Too easy to fragment a discussion. On several occasions I have thought that a discussion had dried up, only to find out later on that it had moved to another page. 6. Too easy to miss the creation of a Wiki. On several occasions people have posted comments on zopedev questioning why noone has commented on their page - Noone knew it was there. This is particularly a problem because Wikis tend to get created sooner than a new mailing list would do, out of the desire to capture all discussion inside that Wiki. Mailing lists only tend to get created once there is enough traffic to justify them, and by then everyone is aware of the topic. 7. Too easy to loose content. On several occasions I have been unable to add a comments to a Wiki, either because www.zope.org would not let me login, or because its database was full. 8. Editing is painful. I have to use the browsers text field, and the whole Wiki page has to make a round trip with every change. 9. I never get the structured text quoting of python source right first time. 10. There are too many empty pages, because someone has clicked on a ? next to word that happened to be a WikiName. Useful pages lie hidden behind a sea of links to empty pages. rant ends. RFClarification: Security on Product Attributes

Hi, If I have the following lines in a Python Product: def __init__(self, id): """initialise a new instance of product""" self.id = id self.title = 'Title!' self.anInt = 0 self.aString = 'testing' Are these attributes protected by the security machinery? If so, how so? Can I read them? I think the answer is yes for anInt and no for aString. Don't know the mechanics of title and id, I'm guessing they're going to be special cases whatever... Are they protectable by permissions? I do hope so although my experience is that, at best, it's not necessary, which is contrary towhat I thought the new security policy was. Should they have to be protected by permissions? Probably... Looking for comments-ly, Chris

So what's the difference in terms of doing <dtml-var myobject> and http://site.com/myobject, if there is any? cheers, Chris PS: What I'm actually looking for out of all of this is the getPhysicalPath() of the final object that was traversed through the URL. e.g: If the URL was http://www.nipltd.com/folder/somethingelse/myobject, I'm looking for something like: [<Application Instance at 0x000000> (Zope) , <Folder Instance at 0x000000> (folder) , <DTMLDocument Instance at 0x000000> (myobject)] If there's an easier way to get this from within the __call__ method of a python product, someone PLEASE tell me! ;-)

Acquisition/cDocumentTemplate bug

Recently, several posters have reported strange "AttributeError __call__" exceptions. The most precise was a report by Oleg Broytmann: /index_html DTML Document <dtml-var standard_html_header> /standard_html_header DTML Method <dtml-with sub></dtml-with> /sub Folder When he calls "/sub/index_html", he gets this "AttributeError __call__" for "sub". He observed the problem on Zope 2.1.4 and 2.2a4. I partially analysed this problem report under Zope 2.1.6: In "MM_cget", "sub" is retrieved as an "ImplicitAcquirerWrapper" (correct). In line 373, however, "PyCallable_Check(sub)" returned "1", which is probably wrong, because a folder is not callable. The "ImplicitAcquirerWrapper"'s "tp_call" mislead "PyCallable_Check". In line 376, the attribute "py_isDocTemp" is looked up and succeeds. Therefore, the folder "sub" is seen as a Document Template, which definitely is not true. The following call fails because it arrives at CallMethodO in "Acquisition.c:119" which looks for a non-excisting "__call__" method. Dieter

How is 'retrieveItem intended to work with TTW Specialists?

Hello ZPatterns Folk..... I'm trying to implement 'delagation' with a custom Specialist. The idea, (I think this is one of the goals of ZPatterns... to allow delegation of responsibility after the Framework is built...) I have: a) MarketItemManager (Python subclass of Specialist) Some of methods, both DTML Methods, and plain old Python Methods, are *meant* to be acquire by the objects (DataSkins) he manages. b) ThingManager (ZClass subclass of Specialist). This is really just a test class that is supposed to represent some later developer integrating my ZPattern based EMarket into their application, (e.g., inventory or whatever...) in MarketItemManager I've defined a 'retrieveItem' (this would really be done by the integrator...) that does something like this: <dtml-return "myGreatSite.ThingSpecialist.getItem(key)"> with the hope that when the Specialist class gets traversed it will execute: def __bobo_traverse__(self, REQUEST, name): ob = getattr(self, name, _marker) if ob is _marker: ob = self.getItem(name) <--- traversal invokes getItem.... if ob is not None: return ob raise 'NotFound' return ob def getItem(self, key): """Get an item""" if hasattr(self.aq_base,'retrieveItem'): <--- getItem invokes retrieveItem return self.retrieveItem(key=key) # XXX need DTML check? for rack in self.rackList: item = rack.__of__(self).getItem(key) if item is not None: return item So my retrieve item gets called..... *unfortunately* it gets called without any namespace parameter... so my retrieveItem DTML method has no way to acquire a namespace so that it can delagate to something else! So... here is what I did... I defined a method in my Python subclass of Specialist.. class MarketItemManager(ZPatterns.Specialists.Specialist): """A Market Item Manager""" # Specify a name for the item type: meta_type='MarketItemManager' def retrieveItem(self, key): """ get an item....""" return self.__of__(self).delegateRetrieve(self, None, key=key) Then I made a DTML method called 'delegateRetrieve' like so: <dtml-return "myGreatSite.ThingManager.getItem(key)"> this way, my integrator can edit 'delegateRetrieve' to point to whatever Specialist he wants to... and I have a Python implementation of retrieveItem. Does this sound OK? Am I working way too hard here? (I feel like I am! ;-> ) thanks, -steve
