constraints for ZCatalog.

Has anyone had any thoughts about adding constraints to ZCatalog? I've got an application where the ability to say 'unique(colA, colB)' would be very useful - it could be implemented simply enough in the addObject code, check for the existence of an object matching the new object's (colA,colB) values, and raise an exception if one is found. eg. if len(self._catalog.searchResults(colA=newobj.colA, colB=newobj.colB)): raise "Uniqueness constraint violated" Another constraint would be to do something like 'colA refers_to colB' and only allow an entry where there's a match for searchResults(colB=newobj.colA) or even an expanded syntax of something like colA, colB refers_to colC, colD which would search for searchResults(colC=newobj.colA, colD=newobj.colB) This also requires putting checks in the update code, I guess, and the delete code. blah. Yes, these are all implementable in DTML or python at the time you add it to the catalog, but it would be way cool if it was there automatically... Anthony

Zope 2.1.1 DTML Try/Except Question

I am using Zope 2.1.1 and I am having trouble using DTML-TRY & EXCEPT statements. This is my first time using this feature, so I apologize if I am doing something dumb. First a look at a code fragment: dtml-try dtml-call "DB_DoSomething(var1=var1)" dtml-except attempt to caught all exceptions Error Type: dtml-var error_type value: dtml-var error_value /dtml-try NOTE: I do have <> used around all of the above dtml- statements. I did not wish to have this code interpreted. Outcome: I get a name error for DB_DoSomething. However, this SQL Method is in the same directory as the calling DTML Method. I have even tried: dtml-try dtml-with REQUEST or dtml-with _ dtml-call "DB_DoSomething(var1=var1)" dtml-except Show error type and value /dtml-with /dtml-try The dtml-with does not work with either the REQUEST or _. I get a name error for REQUEST or _ depending on which one I tried! What am I doing wrong? Problem with ZCatalog and CatalogAware object

I have the following dtml in a ZClass constructor: <dtml-with "FAQEntry.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "propertysheets.Data.manage_editProperties(REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "propertysheets.Settings.manage_editProperties(REQUEST)"> <dtml-call unindex_object> <dtml-call "manage_editCataloger(_['catID'], REQUEST)"> <dtml-call index_object> </dtml-with> Where catID is from the form (it procides an option as to which catalog to index the CatalogAware object with). It works fine except that in the catalog, it shows up as: FBase1/%3cstring%3e Which of course, doesn't work, and also gets unindexed upon catalog update. The object shows up fine otherwise. What am I missing? I had it working before ... I got this working with our ZPublisher/PCGI objects into zope, but I'm stuck on one issue: we encode the HTTP session in the URL, and have a dictionary class that is invoked to get the session object from a __getitem__() call. It works file with ZPublisher but isn't working with ExternalObjects in Zope. A sample URL is: localhost/Zope/sess/Z8Q/home ...where sess is an external object declared in zope containing a dictionary with an entry for Z8Q. I am using the old BoboDictionary, subclassed to override __getitem__() with code to look up the Z8Q key and return a session object. I also set __getattr__ = __getitem__ ... Propertysheet not handeling properies with same name

Zopsters, I have a ZClass instance that can be created inside another ZClass instance. Both have different propertysheets with one property name that is the same. When I call manage_changeProperties on the child 's property sheet, is doesn't change the child's property, it changes the parent! Parent_properties myProperty:tokens Child_properties myProperty:tokens When I call <dtml-call "propertysheets.Child_properties.manage_changeProperties( myProperty=REQUEST['myProperty'], )"> *Parent_properies* myProperty changes to REQUEST['myProperties'], not the one which was called. I see the following possible undos after packing and then restarting Zope CVS latest 3 times. It seems that these 4 products keep being reinstalled.
