Has anyone at DC given any thought to a version of Zope specifically for the reiserfs file sytem using the file system itself for data storage? I think that would rock! What is im_func?

Could you elaborate on what im_func is and what it's role is here. Does it have to do with mapply? Newbie question

Hi All! I'm new to this list and I'm just starting to learn Zope. I'm working through Amos' Zope (classic) Product API and gtk's Boring How-To. Two questions: 1) Are the Poll*.py sources still available? I searched around the Zope.org classic site but had no luck in finding them. 2) Is this list (Zope Dev) the appropriate place to ask the preceeding question? Thanks for your help! Thomas Beutel

Actually with the purpose I have in mind, I have to use the klunky notation because I am nesting sequences. I new there was a reason that I passed over that simple explanation. BTW to test for a list I used try/except in DTML one line <dtml-try "REQUEST.form.values()[a][2]"> or in your other case <dtml-try "_['sequence-item'][2]"> If it can slice then it's a list or dictionary, and since DTML properties can only store strings, integers, flots, text and lists (tokens/lines), then that works for passing previous inputs from forms. external method problems (ARGH!)

Hello, I tried posting this to the zope list, but then thought it might be more appropriat here. I'm getting grief from an external python, method and I'm hoping that someone has some ideas that might help. Here's what I'm doing. I have a Zope product (SmartDTML) consisting of a Zclass which inherrits a DTML Document. I've heavily modified the constructor DTML Method, and among other things it calls some external python code which takes an uploaded file, converts it, and then preloads it into the DTML document via the munge() method. (I've included the code below) The external python code can be run from two places. 1. it runs automatically when you add a new instance of SmartDTML. and 2. from the Upload tab of the newly created SmartDTML instance . Well when called from the object's constructor, my external code runs and works just fine. But when called from the Upload tab, I keep getting "read-only character buffer, instance" errors out of zope. I have an indistinct feeling that it might have something to do with permissions but I don't know enough about Zope yet to know whether or not that is a valid hunch. Incidentally, this product I'm working on is a supposed to be a modified DTML Document which knows how to convert MSWord documents to HTML automatically. I don't know a whole lot about reiserfs (but hey, thats never stopped me before!), but it seems like an interesting concept. We at DC probably wouldn't be able to invest any time into looking at reiserfs unless it was part of a consulting contract, but "at a glance" it seems like such a thing should not be much more difficult than any other alternative storage layer for ZODB (RDBMS, etc.) We would be more than happy to provide what guidance we can to any enterprising Zopistas that might want to tackle such a beast though. I know that there is at least one other alternative storage implementation out there (Ty Sarna's BerkleyStorage), so looking at that would probably be a good place to start for anyone interested. I am looking at using the Zope version management properties integrated with a web publishing front-end to take advantage of xslt support. Therefore I need access to the files stored in Zope in their pure XML or HTML form i.e.NON-DTML corrupted. Is this possible? If so how? I have looked at exporting the files but the exported files always contain DTML tags. Another route is potentially through the ZPublisher again is this feasible and how would I go about achieving this? Thanks in advance for any assistance Guy
