does anybody know where REQUEST['INSTANCE_HOME'] disappeared to between Zope version 2.1.4 and version 2.1.6. Furthermore is it likely to reappear or has it been succeeded by some other key. Cheers, -Andy Dawkins

Zope Add-on Installation

Hi, Zope currently has two ways of distributing products: 1. Tarballs containing python products 2. .zexps containing methods, ZClass products and the like. Things are now getting bad as products are emerging (PTK, Tracker, etc) which require both of these to get a single product working which is horrible :/ What is needed is a new way of installing Zope stuff for the following categories: 1. Python Base Products (Like ZPatterns, PTKBase and TrackerBase) 2. Instantiatable Products (like TinyTables, Squishdot and Tracker) 3. Interface Skins (none right now, DemoPortal is probably the closest) Most importantly of all, collections of the above... (PTK is an example here, Tracker would be as well) Does anyone have any ideas? cheers, Chris

Tree Tag question: from zope 1.x to zope 2.x

Hello, I want to display the content of a site starting from a folder called 'Site' with a tree tag. I want also to render immediately inside the tree the documents with an ID=='PUBLIC_Doc'. More Image Errors

Hi, does anyone know what's causing the following problems? I'm going to knock up a patch for this anyway and chuck it in the collector. customizing Zope HTTP logs

Hi there - I want to customize the format of Zope's HTTP logs for a certain project, so, reading the code I can see that the log() method of medusa's http_request is used for this. In order to customize the log format, I can of course just edit http_server.py to change the http_request's log() method to do what I want, or alternately have code that defines a new log() method and then just changes medusa.http_server.http_request on startup (like, from z2.py). However, I was thinking that wouldn't it be nicer to be able to subclass http_request, say in ZServer/HTTPServer.py and customize the behavior of http_request that way...? It looks like the only things that would be affected would be a couple lines in medusa's http_channel class, where http_request is instantiated: ... r = http_request (self, request, None, None, None, join_h eaders(lines[1:])) r.error(400) return header = join_headers (lines[1:]) r = http_request (self, request, command, uri, version, header) ... Do you think it would be reasonable to change this to something similar to the way zhttp_channel/zhttp_server works, specifying request_class = zhttp_request and then changing the above request lines to call self.request_class instead? Then we can do (in HTTPServer.py): class zhttp_channel: ... request_class = zhttp_request class zhttp_request: def log(...) ... Which seems nicer to me. I guess this is really a request for a medusa change, is this a more appropriate topic for the medusa list? Does anyone else like this idea? --Brian Hooper Digital Garage, Inc.

DCOracle patch

Hi! I encountered the following bug in the recent DCOracle this week: When trying to use stored procedures with more than 1 out parameter like create or replace procedure testproc ( pname out string, pid out int) AS BEGIN pname:='test1'; pid:=100; END; / and calling it from python with pname,pid= dbc.procedures.testproc() an exception will be raised: Traceback (innermost last): File "./testcall.py", line 9, in ? x= dbc.procedures.testproc() File "/opt/python/lib/python1.5/site-packages/DCOracle/ociProc.py", line 149, in __call__ raise t, v, tb NameError: t This is due to the fact that an return from __call__ is only executed when exactly one parameter is returned by Oracle. I fixed this by adding a line returning the whole tuple. BTW: The following raise will do the NameError because the variables will only be defined when the for loop is raising an exception. Without the return it was returning from the loop without an exception and thus raise had no valid namespace. Dear community Please check out and test this patch that I would send it to Collector. I suppose that this feature is very usefull for us and would be good thing if will be insert in next beta of Zope2.2.0. Please, can you explain me why this bug and path was retracted from Collector with message ?: "Retracted by submitter (in Zope-Dev mailinglist, forgot to define USE_EXTENSION_CLASS)." This path intended for 'official' version 2.2.0b3, _not only_ for version compiled from sources. Funny, I didn't have any install problems with b3. Before I tried the CVS thing, I did some tracing under b3. I'm beyond my Zope Zen level here, so maybe someone else can point me in the right direction to follow up on what I've found. What I did was to run Zope under debug and simply trace the execution of publishing the URL "/manage_main" both with and without EMarket installed. I then diffed the results and looked at the place where the execution path diverges. It happens at line 369 of BaseRequest.py, in the traverse function: r = getattr(subobject, '__roles__', UNSPECIFIED_ROLES) When EMarket is not installed, the next thing that happens is a call to __of__ in PermissionRole.py. This returns ('Manager',), and so the page is protected. If EMarket is installed, execution continues immediately with line 370 of BaseRequest.py, making r UNSPECIFIED_ROLES, and so I guess the page is not protected. Given my limited understanding of what __of__ represents, I presume this means that somehow the management method has become unwrapped from its aquisition context after EMarket is installed? But even if I'm right about that I don't know where to go from here in tracking down how it happens. I tried to set a breakpoint at line 169 so I could inspect the object being manipulated, but I can't seem to get the debugger to stop at that line. I hit 'c' and it just displays the page (or error message, depending on whether or not EMarket is installed). Can anyone point me in a useful direction? Do I need to study the aquisition module source code next? Or suggest what I might be doing wrong in setting the breakpoint in the debugger (I just do 'b ZPublisher/BaseRequest.py:169' and it *seems* happy with it...) --RDM
