Problems with Zap

Wrap or not wrap i Zope source

What I want to do is simple. I did... the problem starts in the constructor: # for making DataBlobs def __init__(self, id): self.id = id the print statements look like: print "settitem ",name,value the output: settattr id test settitem id test ..then the exception. So there's no one-calling-the-other going on :S Any ideas? Chris PS: I Just noticed DataBlob inherits from OFS.SimpleItem.Item and well as PersistentMapping, could this be bad? It also inherits from AccessControl.Role.RoleManager, but I would have though that'd affect it too much?

__setattr__

I'm building a DataBlob class (which inherits from SimpleItem.Item, Persistent and RoleManager), a generic object for storing data is such that you can do the following in a form-processing method: <dtml-with "manage_addProduct['DataBlob']"> <dtml-call "manage_addDataBlob(id='Fred')"> <dtml-call "fred.setFromForm()"> </dtml-with> The other idea is that blob contents can be accessed either as attributes or dictionary keys. So, you could do: a.x = 'my value for x' or a['x'] = 'another value' Unfortunately, that also means you could do: a.setFromForm = my_malicious_function ...for example So, I was going to override __setattr__ with something like the following: (data is a list of names of attributes that may be set...) def __setattr__(self,name,value): if hasattr(self,name) and not name in self.data: raise 'Oh no you don't!' self.data.append(name) SimpleItem.Item.__setattr__(self,name,value) # this is the bit that worries me I think this should work in 2.2, but what about that line, should it be Item.__setattr__ or Persistent.__setattr__ ? A few days ago, I requested for some feedback on the SkinnableAndLocalizableObjects project, and got exactly none! I cannot believe that I put down a flawless design here that nobody has anything to add to. A few days more, and the implementation I'll have will be much harder to fit your ideas. Therefore, if "DC" is the name of your database connection, you can access it by "self.DC" or "getattr(self,'DC')". Dieter

In Zope 2.2.0 If you have a bug in your DTML in a <dtml-in xx next> block, you don't see the bug. DT_In assumes that you just don't have more records to see. DB Connection Question

Hi, I have written a Product the uses a Databaseconnection to MySQL, that works fine. but the connection in coded into my Product, and now i want to use a Zope DatabaseConnection added to the same folder. How does this works, it is very important for me, because we want to change to another database, and because this fact it is very useful for me to use an existing DataBaseConnection Object from Zope in my Product to connect to a DataBase.
