gvibDA problems

Hi, Anyone here using Zope and interbase to access an ISO8859_1 database? I'm using RedHat 7.1, Zope 2.3.3 and InterBaseCS_LI-V6.0.1.tar OpenSource (that's the binary release), python 1.5.2 from the RedHar RPMS and gvibDA-0-9-6. The database I'm trying to access was created, on another machine, with the ISO8859_1 charcter set and it works fine there. If I add the option _default_dpb = { isc_dpb_lc_ctype : 'ISO8859_1' } to the adapter, whenever I try to connect I get the following error: >>> z=gvib.connect('/usr/local/var/som_db.gdb','sysdba','masterkey') Traceback (innermost last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in ? Or use a session cookie for the user/pw - when the user changes their password, change it in the current session, as well. I rechecked (do not like to be wrong...): There should be a "DavLocks" entry in the "Control_Panel" between "Versions" and "Products". I am now sure, I have seen it. It is still in the code "App.ApplicationManager.ApplicationManager._objects" but "objectItems" now longer finds it and therefore, it is no longer shown in the control panel. I do not (yet) understand why.... You can use it anyway: http://<your zope>/Control_Panel/DavLocks/manage I will report, when I found out why it is no longer shown. Dieter

If I am in the Zope manage interface. I select Add then scroll down to Script(Python) this is what I was calling an inner method. Here is a reply I got from a Python IDE engineering team as to why I am not able to debug this code with their IDE: Regards Clark " Support for non-disk fragments like Zope internal methods is planned but not yet there. When you say "the client is still sending the username/password". I don't use cookies but, because I only use relative urls, Zope seems to maintain the same security "context" thoughout the "session" (a relative url would be href = "dir1\dir2"). I am looking for some way to refresh this security "context" to use the new password. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that. Basic authentication works by sending the username and password with each request. You've changed the password on the server, but the client is still sending the old password, which doesn't authenticate them any longer. The user'd have to do it sometime, why not right after their password is changed? KeyError in UnIndex

Hi guys, I've got an issue here, the following traceback can be seen after several users modify and view the same object in a short (2-3) minute period. Extending Zope with Eiffel

Ok ... don't laugh (too hard) yet. I know this sounds of blasphemy but let me explain. I spent many years as a meteorologist in the Navy. One tool that would have been invaluable to me (to provide better predictions and warning capabilities) is an expert system. I am sure NOAA probably has one but the Navy doesn't. And they are the ones that would benefit from such a system the most because their forecasting responsibilities are global in nature where NOAA has a much smaller yard to watch over. I have pondered how to build such a system for over 10 years. Things began to fall into place this year when I stumbled upon Zope and when the Navy decided to get serious about Web Services. I like Python ... but I don't think (as a scripting language) it is up to the challenge of an expert system. A language that I feel is up to the challenge is Eiffel (especially in conjunction with ISE EiffelStudio .. an awesome modeling and development environment). So a question for the Zope guru's out there. Since Python is such an adept "glue language" and Eiffel systems are distributed as C-packages, from a technical perspective, would it be absurd to develop the system in Eiffel and integrate it into Zope as a product (or better yet a Web Service in the future). Am I way off base here ? Or am I wrong about my assessment of Python's ability to build an expert system ? Thanks (in advance) for any insight...

[Bug+Patch] Microseconds in DateTime

Retrying here...] The __str__ function in DateTime.DateTime cuts off two precision digits from the time returned by time.time(), falling off to tenths of milliseconds instead of keeping the microseconds. If it feels unrighteous to put the hard work of gettimeofday() to waste, apply the patch below to lib/python/DateTime/DateTime.py, and get back that microsecond precision. Yes, on some hardware/software platforms those microseconds are significant, and yes, they can be useful in many situations. Hi all I have written some code to alow a user to change his password (below) The problem is that after executing this code the login dialog pops up.
