Hi: OK everyone, I've managed to get object links to work. As discussed previously by others (re: object references) and asked by myself: I had the need to be able to refer to objects from different points of the folder hierarchy without duplicating those objects. Yes I know that can be done *programatically*. That is not the idea. The idea is to have a folder with differente widgets/components and to be able to copy and paste references to those widgets throughout the folder hierarchy. Of course that the usual copy/paste is not OK, since that *duplicates* the objects and as such further changes to the original object wont be reflected in the copies. With something like this + Ordered Folders you are able to have an index_html that just renders the objects within a folder and you can then drop objects/widgets into the folder to produce a page. What I did: - edited CopySupport.py - copied the manage_pasteObjects method to a manage_pasteMonikers method - commented the #ob=ob._getCopy(self) line (the duplicate object part) - added a "Paste Ref" button to the lib/python/OFS/dtml/main.dtml file that calls the pasteMonikers method """ <input class="form-element" type="submit" name="manage_pasteMonikers:method" value="Paste Ref." /> """ It works. It does what I want/need. When you change a reference, the original also changes. When you change the original, the references change. You can delete either the reference or the original and all is OK. Issues/TODO - find a way to distinguish references from the original (tried to change the meta_type at paste time but no luck). At least the meta_type/icon should change to provide a visual cue. - provide tool(s) to find impact of changing a reference. Provide a link from a reference object to the original. Provide a link from an object to its several references. Comments and experiences are welcome. C U! -- Mario Valente

Resize a image stored in a Oracle's BLOB Field

Hello, Thanks, I have displayed the images which them was stored in a Oracle's BLOB field, with: <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.setHeader('content-type','image/jpeg')"> <dtml-in SQLMethod_with_a_Only_Row> <dtml-var expr="BLOB_FIELD.read()"> </dtml-in> However, I would like to resize this image. I can not do it with the "height" and "width" attributes, because the image is obtained from a Oracle's BLOB field, and no from image object (i.e.: I can not use <dtml-var "ImageObject.tag(border='5', align='left')">). How can I do it ? Thanks again !

core session tracking and zope 2.5 integration

Chris - I'm not sure of your plans for integrating core session tracking with zope 2.5. This may be obvious to you but I just realized today how I would really like to use core session tracking. I haven't yet investigated the feasability of an implementation. However, it would be nice to have 3 out-of-the-box choices for acl_users folders: - the current acl_users folder - a new acl_users folder with core session tracking support (ram-based storage) - a new acl_users folder with core session tracking support (possibly mounted zeo client storage) The core session tracking based acl_users folders would hide all of the details of installing and setting up the current core session tracking product. By combining this with something like the cookie crumbler, password-less users authenticated only by session key (user name equal to the session key) could be automatically created and expired when the session expires. The session data could also simply hang off of the authenticated user object and default roles (or no roles at all) could be assigned at the user's creation time. The session based acl_users folder would behave the same as the current acl_users folder for users whose expiration time is NONE or less than zero. In essence, it would be really helpful to make the core session tracking product as easy to use (and install) as the REQUEST object. ZCatalog API

Hi list, as I'm not very familiar with the internals of ZCatalog I have a question to all you API experts: Why does ZCatalog.py (under Zope 2.4.1) specify a 'addIndex' permission for a method called 'manage_delIndexes' although there is no such method? The only method I could find to delete Indexes is 'manage_deleteIndex'. Can anyone comment on this? TIA Erich

Read only ZEO

Hi In some of the overview documents discussing ZEO, there is reference to a ZEO client potentially mounted a ZSS in read only mode. (I want to have some ZEO's in read/write as well) I have been trying to work out how this might be achieved but have pretty much drawn a blank, has anyone done this I have any idea how I might go about doing such a thing. compiling Zope 2.4.1 on Mac OS 10.1

Trouble compiling Zope 2.4.1 on Mac OS 10.1: installed a fresh 10.1 that I just got from Apple downloaded the Zope 2.4.1 src tried 'python wo_pcgi' with both a Python 2.2a4 I just made and with my previous Python 2.1, both with and without sudo Whatever I do, it breaks in the same place. At last, the announcement I've been dying to make. After much deliberation -- meaning, I've procrastinated for too long :^) -- I'm pleased to announce our approach for opening the CVS repository to community checkins. The first round of materials are open for public discussion at: http://dev.zope.org/CVS/ In the first bullet of the second list, you'll find links to the important documents: http://dev.zope.org/CVS/ContributorIntroduction http://dev.zope.org/CVS/ContributorFAQ http://dev.zope.org/CVS/Contributor.pdf For those desperately wanting to read as little as possible, here's an overview: o A group of people makes decisions on who to invite, just like in the Python community. We at Zope Corporation will start the process by choosing an initial, small group of invitees to bootstrap the process. o With a real signature on a real document, an invitee will legally start the process of becoming a committer. This "real document" is the Zope Contributor Agreement. o When an invitee's contributor agreement arrives, and the invitee conducts their first checkin using their CVS credentials, they are consenting to the joint ownership terms of the contributor agreement. I'd like to have a period of discussion regarding the material, particularly the Zope Contributor Agreement, through early next week. Once it is clear that the agreement is done, I can change it to version 1.0 and start accepting completed forms from people in the bootstrap group. So, let's begin what I'm sure will be a lively and illuminating discussion. :^) --Paul
