In test.py there's currently a -T option that enables code coverage using the trace module. Are many people using it ? We'd like to work on including in test.py different coverage methods and outputs in Zope by making it interface with coverage.py from http://www.nedbatchelder.com/code/modules/coverage.html Anyone thinks it could be problematic ? zopeXMLMethods and Zope 2.7.x

Hi All, It seems that zopeXMLMethods and Zope 2.7.x do not work correctly together. In fact, installed xml processors are not visible from ZopeXMLMethods object in ZMI (blank list). Personaly I use 4Suite 1.0a4 as processor. Everything work with Zope 2.7.2 but since Zope 2.7.3 every fail. Have you this problem, solutions ? I've patched zopeXMLMethods with the december proposition of zope mailing-list with no succes then the Thread stopped. doubt in starting Zope in debug mode on Windows

Hi All, Iam trying to start to zope in debug mode on windows. I have installed Zope2.7.4 on my windowsXP machine. I started zope in debug using the following the command: ------------------------------------------------------------------------ -------- C:\Zope-Instance\bin>"\zope-2.7.2-0\bin\python.exe" zopeservice.py debug Debugging service Zope_-1444516661 - press Ctrl+C to stop. Info 0x40001002 - The Zope_-1444516661 service has started (Zope instance at C:\ Zope-Instance). ------------------------------------------------------------------------ --------- It started but Im not getting the python command prompt as how we get it on unix when we use zopectl start (in debug mode). Does anybody have any pointers or Im I doing anything wrong. Thanks in advance, Sameena.

ZConfig issue: "products" and "container-class"

Hi, I found a problematic corner case in the interaction between two zconfig directives: If I set the "products" directive to a value other than the standard ones (SOFTWARE_HOME/Products or INSTANCE_HOME/Products) AND set the container-class directive of the <zodb_db> section to a class that is only available inside the alternate "products" directory specified above, then Zope completely fails to start-up with a configuration error. Reproducing this error is simple. Just set the "products" directive to, say, $INSTANCE/../Products; put, say, CMF or Plone in there; add another <zodb_db> section, for instance: <zodb_db mounttest> <filestorage> path $INSTANCE/var/mounttest.fs </filestorage> mount-point /mounttest container-class Products.CMFPlone.PloneFolder.PloneFolder </zodb_db> Change the container-class directive to a class that only exists in "../Products" (like Products.CMFPlone.PloneFolder.PloneFolder or Products.CMFCore.PortalFolder.PortalFolder). Finally, try to startup Zope. It will fail with something like: Error: The object named by "Products.CMFPlone.PloneFolder.PloneFolder" could not be imported (line 862 in file:///home/leo/opt/enfold/etc/zope.conf) For help, use /opt/zopes/Zope-2.7.2/lib/python/Zope/Startup/run.py -h If you comment out the new <zodb_db> section, Zope starts up fine, and CMF and Plone work ok, proving that the "produtcts" directive work on it's own. If instead of commenting out the new <zodb_db> section, you just move your products back to the standard $INSTANCE_HOME/Products location, Zope also starts up ok, proving that the "container-class" directive works (or at least doesn't keep Zope from starting up). I'm just mentioning this here before filing a collector entry to see if I'm not forgetting something obvious or if others have found the same behaviour. This behaviour is problematic for Windows users with, say, multiprocessor machines, who want to maintain a consistent setup between various ZEO clients, as this forces them to copy products between instances instead of keeping them in a shared location. It's obvious that the "container-class" directive is being "evaluated" much earlier than the "products" directive. Without delving further into the code, it looks like the "container-class" directive has an error checking built right into the directive type that tries to import the assigned class, while the "products" direcive will only be made effective AFTER all ZConfig configuration has been processed... CookieCrumbler and User-Logging

hi, i'am using the cookiecrumbler-product (v1.2) in a zope-2.7.1 instance to get cookie-based login for my users. the approach worked well until now. today i've encountered a problem. users can authorize themselve, but their username isnt send regularly within the authentication-header. therefore all log-entrys in the Z2.log contain the username 'Anonymous User' not the actual authenticated one. i've searched the mailinglist for possible fixes, but the only result is that dirty hack: http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope-collector-monitor/2003-February/001733.… it was posted 2 years ago, so i'am looking forward that someone knows an even better solution? -- greets Simon 'SNE' Neidhold

Removal of aq_acquire from guarded_getattr

The bug: http://zope.org/Collectors/CMF/259 The fix: http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope-checkins/2004-August/028152.html This effectively changes how acquisition works in restricted Python. I understand this may well be the point <wink>. The consequences: Zope sites experiencing seemingly random Unauthorized errors. [1] I have added tests to the AccessControl suite on 2.7 branch that demonstrate the new behavior. Note that all of them pass in Zope 2.7.2. What it _appears_ to mean is that when a container denies access, the object security of the acquiree is checked. Therefore, a potential acquiree (read: _any_ object) must make sure to declareObjectProtected or it may end up not being acquirable. This is not always the case in current Zope/CMF/Plone which would explain the Unauthorized errors we see. Tres, I am happy to discuss this further once you had a look at the tests. I also have tests for the CMF in case you want them. Renamed the Zope package to Zope2 and including Zope 3 packages in Zope 2.8

I've just checked in a change on the Zope 2 trunk for Zope 2.8 that renames the Zope package to Zope2. Importing the Zope module is now deprecated, but will be supported until Zope 2.11. When using the Zope head or Zope 2.8, you should import Zope2 instead. Originally, I had intended not to include any Zope 3 packages until Zope 2.9, however, Zope 2.8 has been delayed long enough that I think it makes sense to include some parts of Zope 3 sooner. I also want to use some of the Zope 3 persistent code support, which depends on zope.interface to help get ZClasses working again. I haven't decided which parts of Zope 3 should be included in Zope 2.8 and would like to get input. Give 'Extensions' a configurable directory in zope.conf'

Hi, while ago I submitted a patch that adds an 'Extensions' directive to zope.conf. Those who manifested in zope-dev were receptive, but the patch remains pending with no reviews. Check http://zope.org/Collectors/Zope/1584 Although it has a low priority, I think it will be a big plus to Zope 2.8. The relevant arguments and the full previous discussion can be followed in the thread below: http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2004-November/154867.html There was a single unresolved issue about the patch: - If the 'extensions' directive should be a single directory or a search path ? The patch implemented a single directory mechanism.
