etc/site.zcml in zope 2.10's skel?

Hi all, Ever since I've been developing z3-based projects on zope 2.8+ I've been copying Five's skel/package-includes and skel/site.zcml to my $INSTANCE_HOME/etc so I can use zcml slugs. Now that zope2 is gaining more and more zope3 support I think its time we added these items to zope 2.10's instance skel directory so each new zope 2.10 instance that is created has those items. Some reasons for doing this are: - Removes one more step for getting going with zope3 development on zope2 - Zope 3 developers wanting to port their apps to CMF/Plone don't have to figure out why their zcml slugs aren't working when they just copy them into etc/package-includes (since the instance has no site.zcml) - more consistent with zope3 instances What do you all think? - Rocky -- Rocky Burt ServerZen Software -- http://www.serverzen.com News About The Server (blog) -- http://www.serverzen.net

zope.xmlpickle

Hi all, I have been trying out ``zope.xmlpickle`` as a alternative to XMLExportImport in Zope2. Seems to do the job just fine. Zope 2.8.7 release with ZODB 3.4.3?

Hi all, there is some demand in the community for 2.8.7. No problem at all. >From what I've heard several ZODB bugs were fixed lately since the 3.4.2 release. I suggest to tag the current ZODB 3.4 branch as internal 3.4.3 release (I won't take over any responsibility for an official ZODB 3.4.3 release) and release Zope as soon as possible using ZODB 3.4.3. Thread Initialization Hook

We are having issues with code for initializing COM for threading leaking into several different projects. The issue is that if you want to use COM inside Zope you have to call pythoncom.CoInitializeEx, hopefully as the very first thing after a thread gets created. Mark Hammond suggested that we add the call to this at the point threads get created in Zope. I thought that the non-intrusive way of doing this would be to have some sort of 'thread initialization hook' that gets called as soon as a thread gets created to service a request. Zope 3 ZPTs in Zope 2: Nearly done

Hi, as some of you might have seen from the checkins, I'm trying to complete Andreas's work of bringing the Zope 3 ZPT engine to Zope 2. Andreas has done a great job dealing with the very non-trivial unicode and persistency-compabitibility issues already. I've taken over since to fix up Five accordingly (which is basically done) and make everything else work again (also nearly done). Hanno Schlichting from the Plone crowd has helped me a lot there by running 3rd party software like the CMF (which uses the PageTemplate implementation for filesystem-based templates) against our branch and pointing out backward compatibility issues (which could be fixed with his help). So far it's looking good. There are many subtle differences between the two implementations that make progress slow. Right now I've hit three minor problems (I'm sure there are more, but this is what I have on my plate right for now) regarding some incompatibilities between the Zope 2 and Zope 3 implementations. url with space "%20" on end fails

I have an object that has a space at the end of its id (I know this is bogus but I guess its a valid id). its url is: http://zenoss/zport/dmd/Devices/Power/UPS/devices/POB%202nd%20Floor% 20%20 Trying to navigate to this url fails with "Resource not found". Zope seems to be trimming the spaces of the end. Adding a "/" on the end makes this work correctly. Not sure where I start to look for the problem... any thoughts? (other than take the " " off the end of your ids :)) -EAD
