Mixing recipes (zc.recipe.cmmi reuse)

Hi there, Not sure this is the right list, but let's give it a try. I would like to use the 'patches' functionality from zc.recipe.cmmi together with other recipes. I believe this is useful functionality and is interesting to all sorts of recipes, not only to cmmi-based ones. So the question is, does the zc.buildout architecture support reusing options from a recipe on other recipes? Or would it require the recipe writer to explicitly 'subclass' (?) cmmi to get patch functionality? How to publish Zope2 products on PyPI

During our latest discussion to put my most important Zope2 products into a public repository, I have promissed to publish them on PyPI instead. Yesterday, I started work to fulfill this promiss and carefully read the PyPI related documentation -- to find out, that it is not easy to publish Zope2 products. As the name suggests, PyPI is for Python packages. And Zope2 products rightfully are no Python packages: When a Zope instance starts, it does potentially expensive things for its products. I have tiny Zope instances with a few inexpensive products that start within a few seconds. And I have huge Zope instances with lots of products which parse huge XML files or have large message catalogs and take half to one minute to start. Definitely, I do not want that all my Zope instances use the same products installed via "setuptools" somewhere under the central "site-packages". My current ideas towards a solution: We define a package prefix for Zope2 products, e.g. "zope2.products". Zope2 products are published to PyPI as "<prefix>.<productname>". We extend the Zope2 configuration with an option "additional-products" which lists the products used by the instance that are not at a standard place -- such as those installed by "setuptools" -- Dieter

More resilient indexes

Hi there Are the current indexing solutions that we have in Zope 2 and 3 the best that we can have? Is there any way to improve the amount of concurrent indexing a field or text index can handle. The Zope 3 implementation doesn't look significantly different to the Zope 2 one in that it still uses a BTree for forward and reverse index. I have a basic stress test where 10 concurrent threads index 10 random words in a FieldIndex and get too many conflict errors to even consider this a usable scalable indexing solution. I don't really want to index objects in another backend. I really would like to make the ZODB work for me here. Are there solutions here? Can one employ some of the QueueCatalog conflict resolution strategies to make indexes more resilient? security problem in an monkey-patch

Hi, I have monkey-patched the QueueCatalog to adopt it to our needs, which works fine. I now wanted to introduce a new feature: The QueueCatalog should be bypassed during mass-import of data. So I introduced a new variable "_bypass", and new getBypassQueue() and setBypassQueue methods in the monkey-patch: security.declareProtected(view_management_screens, 'getBypassQueue') def getBypassQueue(self): "get _by_pass" if not hasattr(self,"_bypass"): self._bypass = False return self._bypass security.declareProtected(view_management_screens, 'setBypassQueue') def setBypassQueue(self, bypass=False): "set _bypass" self._bypass = bypass from Products.QueueCatalog.QueueCatalog import QueueCatalog QueueCatalog.getBypassQueue = getBypassQueue QueueCatalog.setBypassQueue = setBypassQueue I can invoke these methods from the url like: ../portal_catalog/setBypassQueue?bypass=1 and ../portal_catalog/getBypassQueue displays a 1 But when I do a: <input type="checkbox" name="enable_bypass" tal:attributes="checked here/portal_catalog/getBypassQueue" /> I get: Unauthorized: The container has no security assertions. Access to 'getBypassQueue' of (QueueCatalog at /uniben/portal_catalog) denied. What I am missing here. -- Gruß Joachim
