Hi everyone, today's the third weekly meeting and here's the reminder including the proposed agenda. Time and place, building on previous weeks, are 3pm UTC at #zope at freenode. That's about 90 minutes from now. If we run out of topics, we can move over to stuff from the horizon. - Test runners / nightly builds - Short status report (Volunteer, access to Windows build environment) - Towards a ZTK release - What is needed for a release? - Who's the release manager? - Can we ensure building Windows binaries? - Wrap-up (5 minutes) Horizon ------- These items are currently tracked on the horizon. We won't discuss them at this meeting, but we'll get to them at some point: - Test runners / nightly builds - Volunteer for coordinating automated builds - Towards a list of projects/platforms/etc. we want guaranteed builds for - Automatic binary egg builds for Windows - Access to Windows (2003) build machines for developers (Baiju M.) - Bug tracking / working on bugs regularly - How do we deal with proposed API changes and Python 3 compatibility? zope.component.zcml and global registry

Hi folks, the ZCML directives in zope.component register components using the utility method handler, which looks like: def handler(methodName, *args, **kwargs): method = getattr(zope.component.getGlobalSiteManager(), methodName) In our company-specific framework (which is far far from zope3, and only uses the bicycle repair kit), we use different registries per application, similarly to repoze.bfg. Everything works, included code which relies on the zope.component's API, thanks to the hooks on getSiteManager. Those ZCML directives use the getGlobalSiteManager though, which is not hookable and thus we had to reimplement the ZCML directives we need to call getSiteManager instead of getGlobalSiteManager. By default, getSiteManager returns the global registry, so I don't see any obvious reason why the ZCML directives make use of getGlobalSiteManager. repoze.bfg, for example, reimplemented the ZCML directives as we did, but I'd love to be able to use the implementation from zope.component. Any idea? Would you kill me if I propose to change the registration handler to use getSiteManager instead? :) Thanks, Fabio

Control Panel/Product Management doesn't display normal products in Zope 2.12

Hi, In Zope 2.12, Control Panel -> Product Management doesn't display normal products. This functionality was working until Zope 2.11 Can anyone tell me whether this was removed purposefully or a bug ? https://bugs.launchpad.net/zope2/+bug/538932 Regards, Baiju M

zope.testing 3.9.0 not installable?

All four of my Zope 3.4 KGS buildbot jobs failed with this opaque error last night: Develop: '/var/lib/buildbot/slaves/zope-kgs/py2.5-32bit-linux/build/.' Getting distribution for 'zope.testing>=3.6.0'. error: Permission denied <built-in function listdir> /tmp/easy_install-lHWuqf/zope.testing-3.9.0 An error occured when trying to install zope.testing 3.9.0. Look above this message for any errors that were output by easy_install. While: Installing. Getting section test. Initializing section test. Installing recipe zc.recipe.testrunner. Getting distribution for 'zope.testing>=3.6.0'. Error: Couldn't install: zope.testing 3.9.0 It looks like the tarball uploaded to PyPI has incorrect and extremely restrictive file permissions (000, i.e. none at all). I could upload a fixed tarball to PyPI (if I could make up my mind if it should be 3.9.0 or 3.9.1), but I'm interested in the root cause: how was the tarball generated?
