[ZEO] protocol problem

Not sure, whether this is the right list. If not, please advise a better place. We use Zope 2.5 together with ZEO 1.0b5 and there seems to be a problem with the communication between Zope and ZEO. Several times a day, Zope reports that it has been disconnected form storage (a warning), that it tries to reconnect but fails due to "error 131, 'Connection reset by peer'". ZEO on the other hand reports that it had opened the connection and keeps it open until Zope stops. There is one special setup: We check ZEO every minute for availability. The script opens a ZEO connection and lets it load an object. I have something like a weak impression that connection requests coming in at about the same time might confuse ZEO. Any information would be appreaciated. User Name in python script

Hi, I need to get the name of the current user , in a python script.... i know how to get it in dtml , but i cant figure out how to get it in a python script. Please help me Sebastian

bug in VirtualHostMonster in 2.5.0

Hi guys, I bring to your attention the bug "235":http://collector.zope.org/Zope/235 in the Zope collector, which I just posted. Apparently VHM is inserting exactly one spurious '/' in urls when the _vh_folder syntax is used. The problem seems to be in the VirtualHostMonster.__call__ method at lib/python/Products/SiteAccess/VirtualHostMonster.py, which has changed a lot relative to the 2.4.x version, however I couldn't make head or tails of that algorithm, so I wouldn't know how to fix it. This problem is seriously hampering our deployment of Zope 2.5.0 on clients, since most of the time we publish the root of the site from a Zope Folder and need the _vh_folder syntax to access the real Zope root for manteinance. Cheers, Leo PS: since we're talking about the collector, I'll also plug the other but I posted there "http://collector.zope.org/Zope/167", which talks about a problem with SuperFind() and includes a simple fix. It's still pending... -- Ideas don't stay in some minds very long because they don't like solitary confinement.

Increased community participation in collectors

We've changed the Zope issue collectors so that any authenticated (logged-in) visitors can comment on issues, not just collector staff and the requester. This is all in the pursuit of quality information flow - some of you have asked for the ability to include your illuminating experiences and/or solutions to existing issues, now you can. Please be discrete with this - "me too"s can drown out crucial info. Memory Problem with 2.3.3

Hi, I have a problem with my Zope 2.3.3 running on a redhat immunix 6.2. The problem is that the zope-threads are growing up. I have running a top since yesterday. 2 days ago the size of all zope-processes was 44MB, yesterday it was 54MB today it is 64MB. This means to me, that all threads are growing up 10MB a day. If have also looked in the debug-information at the top-refcounts. OFS.Image.Image has a delta of around +1500... Is there a problem with OFS.Image.Image, are these objects never closed ???? ZClasses and Python

Hi all, i have a little question on ZCLasses and Python. Lets Say i have python-base-class foo which is folderish. I have a zclass bar which has the class foo as base class. Now i have defined as new propertysheet instance in bar called foobar. If i change the properties of foobar, then manage_editProperties is called( i'am right ). Is there a way to catch the manage_editProperties function(called from foobar) in my base-class foo ???? This is the first public release of our CVSFile <http://www.zope.org/Members/arielpartners/CVSFile> product. CVSFile enables Zope content to be served out of files residing in CVS sandboxes, and provides access to common CVS functions through the web in the Zope Management Interface. Why not simply use ZCVSFolder <http://www.zope.org/Members/sspickle/ZCVSMixin>? Because CVSFile stores files in CVS as normal files, rather than as Python "pickles." This makes it easy to use the same content, held in CVS, in both Zope and non-Zope contexts. CVSFile extends ExternalFile <http://www.zope.org/Members/arielpartners/ExternalFile>, and therefore inherits all of its functionality.

This is the third public release of our ExternalFile <http://www.zope.org/Members/arielpartners/ExternalFile> product. Why not simply use ExtFile <http://www.zope.org/Members/MacGregor/ExtFile>? Because ExternalFile supports pointing to a file "in situ" like a symbolic link, rather than copying it into some central repository directory. This may not seem like a big deal, until you consider that those files might be stored in a revision control system like CVS. ExternalFile gives you the ability to create a Zope object that points to a file in, for example, a CVS sandbox for its content. This new release is compatible with CVSFile-0-7. It also features "workalike" capabilities. ExternalFile can behave like any of the following: * DTMLDocument * DTMLMethod * Image ExternalFile is usable by itself. It is also the base class for CVSFile <http://www.zope.org/Members/arielpartners/CVSFile>.

Well, this would be similar to the approach used by the PortableHole product.
