DogFishbowl?

How about combining a fishbowl and a dogbowl by using Shanes Workflow tool on the fishbowl? It seems a little wierd that is all a bunch of Wiki's, great for making comments and development but rather hard to track changes, manage (I assume) and enforce guidelines. Wouldn't it make more sense to have a product that did this? Doesnt have to be anything fancy. It would be nice if for example I could an xml-rpc call to Proposals to get a list of new proposals, rather than now which is read through it by hand. Time for the fishbowl to mature now its used a lot? Perhaps start a proposal on the fishbowl? Cheers. -- Andy McKay.

I have a ZPatterns application that uses the ZODB as storage. When I delete an object only the name of the script that deleted the object is shown in the Undo log. Is there any way to determine the ID of the object that was deleted? Is there a way that one can get a handle on the object that was deleted? Roché

Hi all, FYI: Martin Fowler (author of UML Distilled, Refactoring, et. al.) has put out a call for papers which discuss the software engineering of internet software. If you're interested in contributing, the original text of the request is below. It can also be found at http://computer.org/software/edcal.htm#march02 . It would be nifty to see a paper which concentrates on Zope in this context. Separately, Mr. Fowler has also expressed an interest in understanding how Zope works in comparison to other internet software platforms, and may consider extending the (primarily Java-centric) effort at http://martinfowler.com/isa/index.html to include Zope-related concepts if they can be contrasted with what exists within this set of documents. raise ZopeProject('http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Proposals/PropertyRevamp') We at Hiperlogica realize a lot of you people prefer to write your code in Python in the filesystem. However, we also believe the power of Zope's trough-the-web RAD framework is one of the reasons for its success; more importantly, it's a good part of the reason it works for *us*. In this spirit, we fired up HiperDom a few months ago, and we're now working on ZUnitTTW to allow developers to unit test their ZClasses and even their very sites. Now, we've been taking note of a lot of peeves we have with Properties, in the past one year or so. After all this time, and dealing with some Zope internals, we feel confident enough to propose to fix them. So we're "raising" a Project in the fishbowl to implement these changes. But before we dive in the mud, we'd like to hear from people that really use Properties (and/or ZClasses), or that would use them if they were more powerful. If the ZEO server goes down, the the client no longer tries to keep reconnecting. This appears to be something to do with the __closed attribute in zrpc.py. Is there a page to check the status of bugs in ZEO? When is the next version due out? and will it be a final 1.0 version? thanks -d

How about just replacing it with: def modifyProperties(**kw) ...where kw is a dictionary mapping property name to property value. If it property specified in kw didn't exist, it would be created. Also, on addProperty and modifyProperties, how about making type coersion happen and raise an exception if it fails? so, if you did addProperty('test','string',1.234), addProperty would coerse 1.234 into the string '1.234' or raise an UncoercableException if it couldn't? Might be nice if the available property types were also documented somewhere. I'm pleased to announce that I've finished the last task in setting up a bunch of new services for ZPatterns and TransWarp users: writing this announcement. :-) First, we now have mailing lists: TransWarp(a)eby-sarna.com and ZPatterns(a)eby-sarna.com. Major packages of interest are ZPatterns, PlugIns, and LoginManager under the ZProducts directory, and TW (TransWarp) under the pylib directory. dtml-in bug?

Hi! Dunno if it's again my "strange" setup, but I have some problem with dtml-in or maybe I simply didn't get something right.. Well, I used the following dtml code: <html> <dtml-in expr="[1,2,3,4,5,6]" size="4"> a<br> </dtml-in> </html> and I thought I will get three a's as output.. instead I get 6.. If I do size=3 it's ok (3 output), if I do size=4 or 5 or 6 I get them all.. (actually it happened with some more complex list of Result objects but this seems to do the same here) Can someone explain that to me..?
