Scott, The 'selection' and 'multiple selection' properties are really built with the idea that you use another property *of the same object* (rather than an acquired value) to bind the selection to. Your change works for your case, but if you try to bind to another property of the same ZClass you'll find that in your management screens that your selection property will fail (because it is looking in '_' for the value, which is the wrong place to look if you are expecting to find the value as another property of the same object. workflow engines

Hello, Ive been working quite a bit with workflow engines lately, and noticed the "OpenFlow" project, an Open Source workflow engine intended to be used with Zope. The project is mainly involving italian speaking developers, and unfortunately, the only Italian I know are words describing foods with tomatos and gratuitous quantities of cheese. Does anyone have any info on this project? Has any other work been done on opensource workflow engines? Has anyone successfully used a workflow engine with Zope? SiteAccess in 2.0.0b2?

I'm having trouble getting SiteAccess 2.0.0b2 to work with Zope 2.2.0b2. The first odd thing that happens is when I create a new SiteRoot, it says that this object already has a SiteRoot (which it doesn't), but creates it anyway. The second is: it doesn't seem to work at all! The value of URL1 still has the :9080 port and the wrong virtual server. Any ideas? - T.J.

Passing form-data to an external Method

Hi, I wrote an external method, to authorize Creditcardpayments with the POSH-Service of the german Cybercash GmbH. This works now with fixed data in the external method. Now I have extended the method as follows: def GetAuth(self,REQUEST=None): "simple Transaction" if REQUEST: fo=REQUEST.form kw = {} kw ["orderid"] = strftime("%d%m%y%H%M%S",localtime(time())) kw ["creditc"] = fo["creditc"] kw ["expdat"] = fo["expdat"] else: return HTMLFile(mydir+"authform.dtml",globals(),vars())() authform.dtml <form action="GetAuth" method="POST"> <table border="0"> <tr> <th align="left" valign="top">Creditkartennummer</th> <td valign="top"><input type="text" size="40" name="creditc"> </td> and so on.. So that, when call from an URL, the form is displayed, and when the form is submitted, the authorisation is done with the form-data. What happens is this: only the form is displayed, so REQUEST is always None. If I leave off the "=None". I get: Error Type: Type Error Erro Value: not enough arguments; expected 2 got 1 What's the solution for this ? how to iterate on a list of DataSkins?

hello, I have a custom Rack which have a searchResults: -----8<----- def searchResults(self, **kw): sqlresults = self.sql_search(kw) return map( lambda r, self=self: self.getItem(r.key), sqlresults ) -----8<----- The sql query give me a list of keys to be looked up in the ZODB. I have got an AttributeProvider on the rack which get the other attributes from the SQL table. However, when I try to use the results from DTML inside the specialist: <dtml-in "searchResults()"> <dtml-var sqlvalue> </dtml-in> This does not work. It throws an exception (sqlvalue not found) But: <dtml-var "searchResults()[0].sqlvalue"> *does* work. Why the DataSkin seems no to be pushed on the variable stack in the first case??? any ideas? regards, jephte clain jclain(a)univ-reunion.fr

It has been suggested in the past that the cataloging machinery in Zope should be able to index the results of SQL methods. This would be one way to approach the problem, although it is not ideal because the information in the RDMBS may change independently of the ZCatalog which indexes it. It would be ideal if someone were to think about this problem really hard, and perhaps come up with some ideas of how the problem could be solved. This probably belongs in a Wiki somewhere. RDBMS systems are not particularly good at full-text searching to begin with (I'm not quite sure how SQL Server handles this, Oracle requires something like Intermedia, an add-on package). Zope does a pretty darn good job at full-text searching attributes and method results of objects in the ZODB. It's transparent to the application as well. Most RDMBS system full-text search facilities require... thought. ZCatalog really doesn't most of the time, it just works. Full-text Indexing FOLLOW-UP

Hi ( again ) Wouldn`t Zope as a web-database integrator benefit from a feature like full-text searching? ( Everybody answers yes and nods. ) It seems as if Zope is aimed at information-publishing, using a RDBMS as source for that information. An initiative from the Zope community to either create products that support this using the most common RDBMS, support these features in database-adapters if the RDBMS supports it and/or create documentation ( HowTos/Tips ) on how to build a simple full-text searching, give ideas, overviews etc, would make Zope a more viable solution for information-publishing. My reason for asking this is that I`m trying to sell OpenSource to my co-workers, show that Open can be just as good as any commercial, Closed-Sourced alternative. When I said that full-text searching wasn`t running out-of-the-box I was laughed at. The solution used in my company is Windows 2000 server, MS SQL 7.0 and SiteServer/MS IIS. To compete with this full-text searching is a must. I used PostgreSQL 7.0.2 with Zope and PostgreSQL has a c-library for full-text searching included in the source. If we could get this to work with Zope we would be a bit closer. I`m going to dive into this, so if somebody wants to help, has tips or whatever, please feel free to email me. Thomas
