Compiled Python as an Extension file

Hi, I managed to patch zope to accept compiled python files in the Extensions directory. I don't know what to do with my path. alpha SOAP support

Hi everyone, Here's a very rough cut at adding SOAP support to Zope. It is mostly a shameless adaptation of the already existing XML-RPC support and it probably has alot of problems, but it should provide a starting point. Don't expect too much out of it for now since: 1) it was written by someone (me :) with about two hours of previous SOAP experience and 2) it is 1:34 AM here and I wrote it in the last hour :) Having said that, I was able to call a method inside Zope and retrieve back the result, so I attach a diff against a current Zope CVS checkout. Feedback is more than welcome. -Petru

ZCatalog text field complex searches still broken

I just ran some simple tests in 2.2.0b1, and as far as I can see, text field searching is still broken. A two word search string, one word of which is valid (and returns results when used by itself) and one of which is not yeilds no hits. This is true regardless of whether or not the words are joined by an 'or' or a 'not'. Also, a keyword such as 'T-shirt' results in an object that cannot be found with either 't' or 'shirt' or 't-shirt'. However, the behavior of stop words seems to be fixed: if one of the two words is a stop word, hits are found as one would expect, with both 'and' and 'or' and no connective returning the hits from the non-stopword of the pair. --RDM

ZEO on NT?

Hello zopistas! I've tested zeo on linux and it works really great!! ZEO is very good! Now I'm having some problems installing on NT. I can put two ClientStorage connected to the StorageServer, but only the one I first start can write to the StorageServer. The second Client cant write and neither see the changes made by Client one. This is the kind of trouble one get if start two zopes with data_dir pointing to the same Data.fs, competing writes (ZODB.POSException.ConflictError). So ZEO is being ignored somewhere. The ZEO/start.py script calls getppid() which is a OS module method only available on Unix. What I did was call instead the getpid() method which is available on Unix and NT. This is the only change I made different from the linux setup of ZEO, and I dont think this is the problem. Does anyone know, or has already been discussed if ZEO Alpha is to run on NT also? Could we continue this discussion on zope-dev, because this is an alpha-level product at this point? I have ZScheduler 0.0.6 running on a Linux machine (www.fippless.org at CodeIt Computing), so we can't say it's an NT vs. Linux problem. It's more likely a Linux/Python/Zope configuration issue. The most system-dependent part of ZScheduler is its use of Python's threading module. According to Netcraft, www.fippless.org is running Red Hat Secure/2.0 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.7 SSLeay/0.9.0b on Linux. According to the Zope Control Panel, Zope version: Zope 2.1.3 (source release, python 1.5.2, linux2) Python version: 1.5.2 (#1, Feb 1 2000, 16:32:16) [GCC egcs-2.91.66 19990314/Linux (egcs- System Platform: linux-i386 Nick, can you supply more detail about the Linux configuration? CodeIt Computing is a good Zope ISP, but, as you would expect of an ISP, they don't offer facilities for this level of SW development, and I don't have any other machines at my disposal to duplicate your Linux configuration. So, I'll need your assistance to help isolate the problem. Can you help with a little debugging, tracing, instrumentation to find the code that throws Zope off track?
