Repeating a piece of HTML code

Hello, it's the first time I write here and I'm a newbie at Zope, so maybe I'm asking a stupid question... Case is I retrieve from my movie database the value of the movie from 1 to 5 stars. I would like to repeat that n times the code <img SRC="star.gif" height=15 width=15> so the number of stars would appear: 1 - * 2 - ** 3 - *** 4 - **** 5 - ***** Is there any way to do so in Zope? Does the <dtml-in> tag anything to do with it? Using """string""" idiom in dtml

How easy would it be to allow """python strings""" inside DTML tag attributes? I'm thinking particularly of situations like: <dtml-var "'''<img src="foo.gif">''' * 12"> Currently, you need to mess about with _.chr(34) and string concatenation. Something like the following will do what you're looking for: <dtml-let stars="5"> <dtml-in "_.range(stars)"> <IMG SRC="star.gif" HEIGHT="15" WIDTH="15"> </dtml-in> </dtml-let> The <dtml-in "_.range(stars)"> ... </dtml-in> forms a loop that gets repeated 5 times by using the python range function -- generally, anything inside double quotes in DTML is treated as a python expression. You'll find that the "_." notation, which accesses the global namespace, allows you to make use of all sorts of python functions. You would replace the <dtml-let stars="5"> with a call to your database to find the actual number of stars. hth, -- Marcus

newbie / dtml-tree and external methods

Hi all, I'm newbie both in python and in zope (in English too!), and here is a problem I realy can't sort out. I would to display the tree structure of a repository disk. Therefore I wrote a recursive class MyFolder, with the following attributes (code is at the bottom of the message): class MyFolder: fname : name of the base folder subfolders : a list of MyFolder objects, made after the subfolders of my folder MyFiles : a list of the files of my folder (actually a list of object whose only attribute is the name of the file) I call this class with the following external method: def ZMyWalk(self,dir): #=None): """ returns ...""" # MyRepTest is the default value #if not dir : dir=MyRepTest return MyFolder(dir) And I try to publish it with the following DTML-method: <dtml-with "ZMyWalk('\\\\saigon\\d\\divers\\wlk')"> <dtml-tree branches_expr=subfolders> <dtml-var FolderName> <dtml-in MyFiles> <dtml-var name><br> </dtml-in> </dtml-tree> </dtml-with> It displays the first level fine. But when I try to expand the tree by clicking on the small + sign, it acts randomly (doesn't do anything, or expand another branch, sometimes it even does the right thing, ..). Any guess? I'm totally lost :-( . I'm not sure I does this the right way. The SomeFile class I 've made seem rather artificial. I run Zope 2.1.6 with Python 1.5.2 under NT4.0 and I got the TreeTag.py pach. What causes the failure

After updating with the latest CVS patches my formerly working installation now fails with an Authorisation failure. Before I didn't need a password at all; now even the manager password fails. Please ZOPE developers, can't we get some information into the trace back about what object/permission is causing this kind of failure. Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Unauthorized You are not authorized to access this resource. Username and password are not correct. In that case I could see the name of the tiny table that was being requested in the traceback. Zope 2.1.6: ZCatalog's Reindex unintuitive?

ZCatalog's "manage_catalogReindex" rebuilds the indexes for currently cataloged objects. Object which do no longer exist are removed. However, new objects in the catalog's "search space" are not added. This has the advantages, that 1. the catalog can be filled with several finds 2. cataloged objects can be manually managed (removed). However, it does not support well a common use: provide search facilities for part of a WebSite. For this use, new pages, too, would have to be found and indexed. I know, of cause, that a DMTL method could do this job. However, a general method "manage_catalogRefind" might be generally useful. It would remember the parameters for the last find operation and reapply the find. What do you think? Dieter

BerkeleyStorage with ZODB problem

I'm developing a large program and think that ZODB with BerkeleyStorage is the best option. I had a python test program working using FileStorage that worked. Zope 2.1.6: Test.py problem with patch

Problem: Description: If a DTML method is accessed with "ZPublisher/Test.py", an "Unauthorized" exception is raised in "verify_watermark". Environment: Zope 2.1.6, Linux 2, Intel Analysis: The module "BaseRequest" is imported twice: once as "BaseRequest" and once as "ZPublisher.BaseRequest". The AUTHENTICATED_USER (and its watermark) is constructed by the first module instance; the check is made against the watermark of the second module instance and therefore fails.
