Thanks Anthony. The answer you gave me for the first question worked like a champ! I did have to change my dtml-var "dtmlmethod-2" to a dtml-call RESPONSE.redirect('dtmlmethod-2'). Other than that it worked GREAT! The second question however, I can not change the target attribute as some of the responses should go into "Main" frame and this one into the "Menu" frame. I wonder if there was a way to manipulate the HTML Header in the RESPONSE object to specify TARGET="Menu"? Two Puzzling Questions.

First Question: I am attempting to use the dtml tree tag to show the folders under a different folder branch from the one I am currently on. For example, /site1/subfolder1 is where the application is running but I wish to display all of the subfolders in /site2/folderA. My code looks like this: dtml-with folderA dtml-tree branches_expr="objectValues(['Folders'])" dtml-var title_or_id {NOTE: I actually make a HTML HREF here} /dtml-tree /dtml-with After playing around with this code a little while (by replacing the branches_expr with a branches=objectValues, I realized that I am still using the /site1/subfolder1 as my point of reference for the tree tag (i.e. the root directory). So, finally my question is why am I not seeing the subfolders under /site2/folderA? I am using Zope 2.1.1. Second Question: I am using two frames (Menu and Main). In my "Main" frame, I have a submit button that I wish to display the results in the "Menu" frame. Jim has gotten into the habit of drawing little ships portals (to concentric circles with bolts around it) when talking about a portal. He and I both assumed the folder arch when we thunk up Zope's virtualhost support. The beauty of our solution, I think, is the size of the change, absolute URL was actually simplified, one short method was added to REQUEST, and a very simple folder object was created that overrides absolute_url and __bobo_traverse__. All in all, suprisingly little code. But really the whole guts of the operation is done in the REQUEST.setBase() and absolute_url() methods. If you object impliments that interface, it doesn't really matter if it's folderish or not. You're using a Rule object now, probably makes sense at the application level to not change that and have identical Rule objects in interface, but investigate how it's to be done. Why is TemplateDict so opaque? -and- Have you seen this problem?

[sorry folks, I'm tired, so this is halfway to a rant :-( ] I'm trying to do a work-around for the "namespace goes away after two levels of dtml method calls" problem with an XXXPythonMethod, and have now hit another wall as regards accessing the namespace enclosing the XXXPythonMethod. So I'm sitting here trying to figure out where this variable of mine is hidden, and I'm thinking I should be able to get there via the _ instance of TemplateDict. Well.... I'm not happy that I now know what TemplateDict is - I really wish I hadn't had to go there, but now that I'm there I have a much better understanding of why it is impossible to get information out of it; it has "do you have this key" and "get the value of this key" and absolutely nothing else. Is there a reason for this? I can think of *countless* times when the ability to just have a *glimpse* of my namespace would have saved hours. Is there a possibility that you could make the thing look more like a mapping object, with keys() and values() and items() and such? It'd sure save a ton of time. Some kind of tag to pretty-print the namespace would be great too. ... But then, actually, not having to deal with the namespace going away problem would have saved even more time. I'll describe it briefly to see if it rings any bells: Imagine a dtml method called methodA that looks like this:  Depth: <dtml-var "methodA(counter=counter+1)">  and you call it from a browser as methodA?counter:int=0 You'd expect one of these: a) zope locks up/crashes because of the recursion b) methodA bails out because someone detects recursion or exceeds a stack limit of some sort What you *get*, however, is the very suprising: Error type: KeyError Error value: standard_html_header And if you rip out the reference to standard_html_..., you'll get the equally baffling: Error type: NameError Error value: methodA In practice, you'll find that this disappearing act occurs at about the third level of expression evaluation. How about load/unload for ZODB residents?

Hi, Maybe I'm dense... but it seems to me that it would be relatively straight forward to allow for an unload routine that is able to create a directory/file structure into which the source is 'unloaded' similar to (what I think I recall exists) the load from a directory routine. I've had problems (need to reconfirm) moving (via export/ import) stuff from one environment to another. Does this type of functionality already exist? (Sorry, been so busy that I haven't read everything that passes through this list). TIA! -ldl

ZCatalog 'url' bug??

OK try this (well don't unless you want undeletable objects) create something that is CatalogAware, than have it index itself "index_object" (when being created, inside a factory I think?), now clear your catalog and use "Find Items to ZCatalog" to index the same object. Lastly try to delete the object, Zope complains can't uncatalog the object and it won't delete it. The uid or rid or data_record_id_ (can somebody make up their "minds"?) is first indexed WITHOUT the leading '/' and than with it if we "Find Items ..." Would: url='%s/%s' % (self.DestinationURL(), self.id) not return a leading '/'? If so, would url='/%s/%s' % (self.DestinationURL(), self.id) fix it?
