Pack error and corruption

More comfortable DTML editing ?

Editing DTML in a textarea input is very annoying. Will there be a better solution in the future of Zope ? Andreas

I am in no way insinuating that DC write this thing :) I think that MFI sounds *great* and I'd like to see the API provide the hooks necessary to handle something like Flash, since Flash can get kind of convoluted in how you use it. Any instance of your product can call a method in the module that'll return a new connection to the storage, and store that into a _v_ variable. That way any thread safety is taken care of by your product ZODB. First of all: two threads each get their own copy of the class instance, so you are safe there, they will not interfere with each other. It is at commit time to the DB that things might conflict, but that's where the ZODB has it covered. The fact that the ZODB isn't aware of the change will only cause it not to be committed. Your change will not be visible in any other thread, and will be gone as soon as the object is removed from memory (at least, that's my understanding). You can make the ZODB aware of the changes you made by either changing a mutable on the object, or by setting _p_changed to a true value. Either way the object will be registered with the current transaction and the changes will go though the normal ZODB machinery, including conflict resolution. All this can be found in the ZODB UML model at: http://www.zope.org/Documentation/Developer/Models/ZODB especially, Persistent Objects (top left frame) -> Persistent (bottem left frame) and then read the bottom right frame. [Newbie] #tree tag - help!

I have been trying to create a site making use of the #tree tag. To get started I tried to follow the "Inplementing a navigation tree" section of the Zbook tutorials, although I have removed some superfluous stuff in an effort to track down the bug. Everything seems to display correctly when I initially view the page (a tree of my "Outline" folder is displayed), however whenever I click on any of the sub-folders I get the error which you can find at the end of this email. Here is my "ll_menu" code (I suspect the problem is in here somewhere): <SPAN CLASS="tree">   <dtml-var id>  <A HREF="/?tree-s=&tree-e=&tree-c="></a>   </SPAN> Can anyone give me a pointer as to what is going wrong? Any help would be much appreciated, this problem is giving me a headache! Also, on a general point - is there any effort being made to make the error reporting system more newbie friendly? Ian. Adding math functions to VSEval

Is it possible to add std math functions to VSEval's namespace? I can override the builtin namespace, etc, and include python's math functions in the same namespace, but eval can't seem to locate them. What am I missing? Thanks

Zope Errors

thread problem with MailHost on DEC Unix

I'm having problems with threads & mailhost on DEC Unix. I'm using the most recent python & zope distributions. when I use MailHost I get the following message on the server stderr and the server restarts: 1999-10-14T00:50:49 PROBLEM(100) ZServer unhandled connect event DECthreads Last Chance handler: thread 5 exiting on status exception 0x177db005 Exception: Invalid memory address (dce / thd) Anyone have an experience like this? I haven't had any thread trouble with anything else.
