Problems with back up

I tried to do a pack of the old Data.fs from this morning and I get this. ZServer exhibiting single threaded behavior

I have had my thread count from 6 up to 20, and Zope is still taking over 60 seconds to bring up a single page. Not a problem, if i have multiple Catalog searches on that page, or big tree tags, etc..., however when I have another window open with a vnc session with a Win NT box Explorer 4.0 up and I try to get a response from Zope while the old window is still churning, it stalls until the old window comes free. As soon as the fist wondow if free, bam! The other brower gets it data. These are two separate machines, two separate OS's and two separate browsers both waiting for the same request to finish. Getting an objects properties

Hello, I'm trying to write an external method that exports an object to the filesystem as a folder, with all its properties stored in files. I have a prototype working in wich I use 'dir(self)' to get a list of all the properties of the object. It kinda works now, but I was wondering what the correct way is to get all the properties wich are stored for an object in de objectdatabase. Do I have to access them through the propertysheets ? And what happens then if I delete one from a propertysheet, but the object still has it stored? Thanks for any help. Kind regards, Leon de Heus.

load_site.py: patch1 draft

Hello! I want to discuss my first patch to load_site.py. The very gzipped file attached. I've included entire file, not only diff. Look for "phd" and "/phd" comments - all my modifications are between them. I have a plan to patch load_site to my needs, but I think my needs are general enough to be interesting for others. I want to here from you. Anyone interested to comment? My first patch is simple. Instead of putting entire HTML file as DTML Document I parse the file. I parse <TITLE></TITLE> and store title separately; I remove <HEAD></HEAD> completely and replace it with . In the very upload_html I put extracted title as Document's title. It's all for now, very simple, and implementation is very simple too. I use SGMLParser because HTMLParser is doing too many things - I don't need such much :) I've debugged the program and downloaded my homepage (http://sun.med.ru/~phd/) to Zope - http://sun.med.ru/~zphd/ Next thing to do will be to strip off </BODY> and replace it with standard_html_footer. This would be very simple. But next thing would not be so simple. I want to parse META tags, put them into properties (I do not see any better place) and will construct special version of standard_html_header that will loop over properties reconstructing <HEAD> with META tags. Question. How can I loop over properties? BTW, I added comment "modified by Broytmann" to the load_site.py, not sure how good it goes with License. In any case I'll be glad to see all source files filled with CVS history logs, with full names of authors and contributors. Programatically adding a product

Let's try again in the dev list, I've already asked it in the other list without success. Probably I was being punished because it was posted to the wrong one. How do I add a ZSQLMethod to a folder in Zope 2? In Zope 1 it was just necessary to call folderObject.manage_addZSQLMethod to add a SQL Method to a folder, but it doens't work in Zope2. Can I use . in file ID

For the names of a download file I would like to use the extension form ie file.zip or file.exe. Someone tells me I'm forbidden to use '.' in ID's, but I seem to be able to do that anyhow. If I'm not allowed to use '.' is there a way to tell the client what default save as filename should be used? -- Robin Becker

ZClass.py?

I'm slowly updating the whole ZQR and came across this: cb_isMovable=cb_isCopyable in ZClass.py Does this need to be there or changed to cb_isMoveable, like the one in CopySupport.py? Also can someone who knows about the objectIds_d, objectItems_d, objectMap_d in ObjectManager.py, mention the purpose of having them there and if I should mention them in the ZQR? they seem to be left over from something, can't find any other references to them. David, empty space...

ANN: VisualStudio Preview released

Hi, I've uploaded the VisualStudio technology preview. I was hoping to add additional widgets before release but its so easy I didn't bother ;). Basically, VisualStudio when complete (~ 7 release cycles based on my normal product lifecycle ;) will provide a complete drag 'n drop javascript interface to Zope. It purposely doesn't support any DTML or other "programming" apart from javascript as you give it to your local web designer and say "whip up an interface for me". Then, you write the dtml handlers for the urls you gave them and voila! instant, active webpages! The DuoPath application by Dan Steinman (http://www.dansteinman.com/dynaduo) is what I'm modelling the system on. The left hand plain will contain a list of all widgets within the aquisition path + save and reload buttons, the middle contains the current workspace and the third contains a collaspable menu containing Properties, Behaviours, Themes and Events (gonna steal this one...). To use it, they create a form in the Zope interface and click on it. The interface described above will pop up and the Zope interface will show the XML representation of the form (just an XMLised HTML format). They can edit in either view. To create a widget, they click on the icon and drag its outline on the workspace and it is created automagically! The key thing here is that it works on both IE and NS - emulating iframes, behaviours etc when required. Hi, Noting the recent release of the excellent XML Widgets of M.Faassen and the discussion on wysiwyg I thought I better pre-annouce my upcoming VisualStudio for Zope in case other people are working on the same thing. Currently, VisualStudio consists of 3 classes: Forms, Widgets and Behaviours. A Form is an XML document containing XHTML + Widgets. Widgets are represented by: <box name="mybox1" x=1 y=5 width=10 height=50 behaviours="" theme="None"> contents </box> within the form. They are rendered to HTML by calling a series of functions on a widget. A widget is another XML document in the aquisition path of the form: <widget name="box" behaviours=".."> <constructor>javascript constructor function</constructor> <builder> <CSS></CSS> <- use browsers to edit these <DIV></DIV> </builder> <code language = ''>additional javascript/dhtml/python method code</code> <body>What to replace the widget reference with</body> </widget> where each subelement is a PythonMethod called by passing the node within the form and the root node of the form. Hence, they can edit the copy of the form by obtaining information from other nodes within the widget. Finally, each widget can have a number of behaviours. Behaviours are like mix-in classes for javascript/dhtml. Currently behaviours include: draggable - makes a piece of html draggable on both NS & IE scrollable - cross-browser / themable iframes on NS & IE path-xxx - same properties as a gif animation but move html around in a preprogrammed path. resizable - add a resize button to it Example: to make a cross-browser, themable MDI window: <window name="mywin" behaviours="path-circle path-square resizeable".. theme="MyTheme"> This is a window </window> to show it: <a href="javascript:mywin.show()">Show it</a> to hide it: <a href="javascript:mywin.hide()">Show it</a> to change the theme: edit the Theme object (not started yet but is just a collection of images with some dhtml sugar to provide easy editing of them) So, in summary, VisualStudio merges javascript and Zope backend scripts into the same namespace. This is done by merging XML and javascript on both the sever and client. Future plans include porting the GPL DuoPath to create a Visual Basic style development environment with visual and xml style editing working side by side.
