CatalogAware must come before ObjectManager

I don't know if this is a bug, or simply a function of how things work... but it appears that a ZClass must list CatalogAware as a base class before ObjectManager if you wish the CatalogAware functionality to be there. If this is expected behavior, then this should probably be documented... BTW, will it ever be possible to change the Base classes of a ZClass? Kevin

Realistically, 99.999999999% of business run on either proprietary systems that they created, or some form of COTS product. In many cases it can be a *substantial* investment. I know at least 2 companies who have deployed ERP solutions from SAP that have total deployment costs in the $10-20M range. And these are not that unusual. What I would recommend is to take a very "pluggable" approach. Create methods which access data (inventory, etc), and simply allow people to over-ride those as necessary to integrate. Question about using CatalogAware

Greetings, I've got a ZClass with ObjectManager and CatalogAware as base classes (in that order). I'd like to make a DTML Method (in the ZClass) that searches the catalog. Since the ZClass is an Object Manager, the Method is one level down and will have to acquire the catalog. If I replace "_[default_catalog](searchfor)" with "Catalog(searchfor)", the method works. That's why I thought that my syntax was correct... _[default_catalog] should look up 'Catalog' in the namespace. If I had said _['default_catalog'], that would've returned 'Catalog'. _[_[default_catalog]] actually tries to use the catalog object itself as a key in the namespace (and yields a "bad argument to internal function" error). the birth of ZCommerce

It seems to me that I am not the only one who is interested in an ECommerce Product for Zope. The EMarket PRoduct was interesting but definately not of production value. Maybe we should organize the effort? For instance currently, I am working on a basket system that retains session state without using cookies( an absolute prerequisite ).
