zeo on solaris

hi, it seems like we're going to deploy a pretty big installation on a combination of solaris / RHEL servers. the data storage of our application is based on ZODB (ZEO) and PostgreSQL (with STORM) plus NFS for extfile handling. so far it's planned to deploy ZEO, PostgreSQL and NFS on a fully redundant SUN Fire 440 with Solaris connected to a Hitachi/Sun StorEdge 9990 SAN. i know ZOPE has/had some issues on Solaris (http://www.zope.org/ Members/glpb/solaris) we're talking about ZEO/PostgreSQL only... we guys at lovely systems don't have a lot of experience with solaris, who of you guys is running ZEO on solaris? how does it perform? we'd like to contract someone with solaris expertise in near future, volunteers - contact me :) thanks for your feedback jodok -- "Simple is better than complex." -- The Zen of Python, by Tim Peters Jodok Batlogg, Lovely Systems Schmelzhütterstraße 26a, 6850 Dornbirn, Austria phone: +43 5572 908060, fax: +43 5572 908060-77

Changing DateTime to use pytz

Hello, I'm working on changing DateTime to use pytz for timezone information. The motivation is that DateTime doesn't have up to date daylight savings time information. Rather than maintaining this stuff in DateTime it seems easier to delegate this work to a package that does this jobs better and is kept up to date. My approach is to use timezone information from pytz if it is importable, otherwise, the existing DateTime timezone information is used. I haven't made other changes to DateTime, and all existing timezones that DateTime defines are still supported (even though pytz doesn't know about some of the weird timezone names that DateTime defines.) I wanted to see if people are interested in seeing this go into Zope. One issue is that there is a daylight savings change coming up in a few weeks and so it might be nice to make these changes available to folks before then if possible. Thanks! -Amos

There's work going on to create a second version of WSGI. Last time, we didn't pay much attention until WSGI was a done deal. This time, I think it would be better if we were involved earlier. zope.fssync in Zope 2.11

I just realized that Zope 2.11.0-a1 contains zope.app.fssync but not zope.fssync. This doesn't make much sense to me given that the former depends on the latter. Is there a good reason for it, should both be included, or none of the two? -- Thomas
