Newbie security development question

Running Zope 2.6.0 (binary release, python 2.1, linux2-x86 I would like to import the ClassSecurityInfo class from a Python script and the examples don't seem to work: If I try for the examples: from AccessControl import ClassSecurityInfo It doesn't work so when I try: from AccessControl.SecurityInfo import ClassSecurityInfo I get password challenged, and no username/password pair works (not even admin, or the emergency user). Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Ultimately I want to change the default permission on an uploaded file to not be viewable by anonymous, until a manager approves this and sets it viewable. Can't import

I have a simple python script that tries to do the following: from AccessControl import ClassSecurityInfo And produces the following error: Error Type: ImportError Error Value: import of "ClassSecurityInfo" from "AccessControl" is unauthorized. You are not allowed to access ClassSecurityInfo in this context I think all other from...import statements cause the same. Can anyone tell me what this is caused by, and how to work around it? Shane, AdaptableStorage is insane and beautiful - congratulations :-) It could fit a possible project we have coming up where a requirement is to store content in an XML format inside MS SQL Server. Do you have a TODO list? Are there any "particularly alpha" parts? I would need to get an idea of the risk I was taking on, but if the list is sufficiently small, I love to help mature and extend the product. Seb

Zope anonymous CVS temporarily offline

Hi all, Due to the CVS vulnerabilities disclosed today, we have temporarily shut down anonymous CVS access to cvs.zope.org through pserver. We'll reenable this when we have upgraded CVS on the server. Thanks for the tips, it was the missing wrapper. I'm quite a newbie in Python programming, so please forgive me. I've got two other questions: 1. Say we have a Class A with an attribute myObjects which is just a list. Now, I'd like to write my own Class B(A) - it extends A. But, in Class B, myObjects has to be a method because it has to be rebuild everytime it is called. So, how can I do something like: myObjects = getMyObjects() ? I tried to do this in the class itself, didn't work. Also tried self.myObjects = self.getMyObjects() - result wasn't what I wanted, myObjects got (of course) the resulting list of getMyObjects(), but I need myObjects to be a reference to getMyObjects() How to do this? 2. Class A has another attribute, say data, which I want to control in Class B(A), i. e. everytime data is accessed (reading or writing), I want to intercept those actions. If it was just reading, I could use the strategy from 1., but I also want to control made changes to that attribute. Do I absolutely have to rewrite all the methods which access the wanted attribute, or is there another possibility with some kind of references, perhaps similar to software interrupts in DOS? I understand zdaemon is going away soon, but here's a small patch to Daemon.py to fork if it finds an EVENT_LOG_FILE. Also included is my start/stop scripts (for Unix), and a custom_zodb.py which uses an environment variable ZODB_STORAGE to determine what storage to use. This allows me to use the same codebase for my ZEO client Zopes and local FileStorage Zopes, simply by changing a /etc/defaults style config file, also included. The scripts in their current form may not be entirely suitable, but they provide a point of departure for a slightly better startup mechanism. The non-detaching daemon, however, is just plain annoying.
