Corrupted Trasaction error and Zope taking down the machine

Well, the OS (RH 6.0) was runing for about three weeks without a restart, and the only service running on it was Zope. The machine took a dive and locked out all input, even the keyboard, to it. The kernel wasn't accepting metwork traffic. After about a ten minute interval I discovered that it was actually taking input in sputs, so I managed to get out of X-windows and into an alternate tty. I shut it down properly. Now I have restarted it, and Zope too. everything seems okay, so then I go to pack it. (I had backed up about 3 hours before this) Just to get another backup, and I get a Corrupted Transaction Error: CorruptedTransactionError</STRONG></P>  Help?! -- Jason Spisak webmaster(a)hiretechs.com

Problems with back up

I tried to do a pack of the old Data.fs from this morning and I get this. ZServer exhibiting single threaded behavior

I have had my thread count from 6 up to 20, and Zope is still taking over 60 seconds to bring up a single page. Not a problem, if i have multiple Catalog searches on that page, or big tree tags, etc..., however when I have another window open with a vnc session with a Win NT box Explorer 4.0 up and I try to get a response from Zope while the old window is still churning, it stalls until the old window comes free. As soon as the fist wondow if free, bam! The other brower gets it data. These are two separate machines, two separate OS's and two separate browsers both waiting for the same request to finish. Getting an objects properties

Hello, I'm trying to write an external method that exports an object to the filesystem as a folder, with all its properties stored in files. I have a prototype working in wich I use 'dir(self)' to get a list of all the properties of the object. It kinda works now, but I was wondering what the correct way is to get all the properties wich are stored for an object in de objectdatabase. Do I have to access them through the propertysheets ? And what happens then if I delete one from a propertysheet, but the object still has it stored? Thanks for any help. Kind regards, Leon de Heus.

load_site.py: patch1 draft

Hello! I want to discuss my first patch to load_site.py. The very gzipped file attached. I've included entire file, not only diff. Look for "phd" and "/phd" comments - all my modifications are between them. I have a plan to patch load_site to my needs, but I think my needs are general enough to be interesting for others. I want to here from you. Anyone interested to comment? My first patch is simple. Instead of putting entire HTML file as DTML Document I parse the file. I parse <TITLE></TITLE> and store title separately; I remove <HEAD></HEAD> completely and replace it with . In the very upload_html I put extracted title as Document's title. It's all for now, very simple, and implementation is very simple too. I use SGMLParser because HTMLParser is doing too many things - I don't need such much :) I've debugged the program and downloaded my homepage (http://sun.med.ru/~phd/) to Zope - http://sun.med.ru/~zphd/ Next thing to do will be to strip off </BODY> and replace it with standard_html_footer. This would be very simple. But next thing would not be so simple. I want to parse META tags, put them into properties (I do not see any better place) and will construct special version of standard_html_header that will loop over properties reconstructing <HEAD> with META tags. Question. How can I loop over properties? BTW, I added comment "modified by Broytmann" to the load_site.py, not sure how good it goes with License. In any case I'll be glad to see all source files filled with CVS history logs, with full names of authors and contributors. Programatically adding a product

Let's try again in the dev list, I've already asked it in the other list without success. Probably I was being punished because it was posted to the wrong one. How do I add a ZSQLMethod to a folder in Zope 2? In Zope 1 it was just necessary to call folderObject.manage_addZSQLMethod to add a SQL Method to a folder, but it doens't work in Zope2. Can I use . in file ID

For the names of a download file I would like to use the extension form ie file.zip or file.exe. Someone tells me I'm forbidden to use '.' in ID's, but I seem to be able to do that anyhow. If I'm not allowed to use '.' is there a way to tell the client what default save as filename should be used? -- Robin Becker

ZClass.py?

I'm slowly updating the whole ZQR and came across this: cb_isMovable=cb_isCopyable in ZClass.py Does this need to be there or changed to cb_isMoveable, like the one in CopySupport.py? Also can someone who knows about the objectIds_d, objectItems_d, objectMap_d in ObjectManager.py, mention the purpose of having them there and if I should mention them in the ZQR? they seem to be left over from something, can't find any other references to them. David, empty space...
