I've think I just fixed a bug in the Logger product, but am not sure if it is a good fix or not. def render(self,md): subsystem = self.args['subsystem'] severity = severities[self.args['severity']] if hasattr(md,'this'): summary = self.sectionSummary(md.this,md) else: summary = self.sectionSummary(None,md) The code I stole from SendmailTag.py simply retrieved a string by using self.sectionSummary(md.this,md), but I managed to blow this up with a wierd calling path where 'md.this' didn't exist (A DTML method added to python class with HTMLFile calling a DTML method defined in ZODB). So I added the 'if hasattr' section. Does this indicate a bug in SendmailTag, or in whatever constructs the md object? Create Zinstance at fixed place?

I want to instantiate a ZClass at always the same folder in the ZOPE hierarchy. The code of createInObjectManager() looks for the attribute 'Destination'. I presume this can only be a folder. In the ZClass_add DM I try to set this in the following way. <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('Destination','ifm')"> <dtml-with "MemberFolder.createInObjectManager(REQUEST['id'], REQUEST)"> <dtml-call "propertysheets.MemberFolder_info.manage_editProperties( REQUEST)"> <dtml-var "add_Member(username=REQUEST['id'], password=REQUEST['password'], confirm=REQUEST['confirm'])"> </dtml-with> This does not help. I have tried all other ways I can think of, but the instance is always added at the folder I add the product. Any insights, how this can be done? TIA __Janko

I think a better way to achieve caching is as a seperate entity altogeather. This was suggested awhile back in a big discussion about caching. What is needed is an object that wraps the method be it a DTML method, external XMLRPC method whatever. This will act exactly as the orginal method but will do cache management. You can set your own caching scheme (refresh once a week or whatever). The only problem with this is that the cache needs to know the entire context that makes up a call so that if the context was presented again then it could return the cached version. This is bit hard with aquisition.

Zope ignoring #if tag

Zopists, Anyone have an explanation for this: I have a file that I am uploading (with the enctype of the REQUEST set proerly ;-)). The file is REQUEST['file'], and to upload it I call    Most of the time is goes through fine, but about every 40th try or so I get a traceback with a name error on 'file', even though I put the #if tag in to skip it is it doesn't have 'file' in the REQUEST. I look at the log and there is a 'Conflict Error'. After this Zope starts having tons of these errors, and eventually I get the big 'ERROR (200) uncaptured python exception'. If I don't try that method for a while I don't have any conflicts and things run pretty smooth. Any ideas would greatly be appreciated. All my best, -- Jason Spisak webmaster(a)hiretechs.com

Aren't HTTP headers appropriate for this? That is, don't think of it as part of the payload (XML), rather the transport (HTTP). Make the XMLRPCMethod have caching policies controlled by the various HTTP/1.0 (or 1.1) HTTP headers. DTML ZClass ID Bug

I had submitted this to Collector about a month ago, and have since wrote an external method to get around creating them with id's. If you create a ZClass instance based on DTMLMethod or Document through the web interface you end up with an object that has no id. (Or at least no way to see it outside the management screens) If you create the same object in python using: from DateTime import DateTime from OFS import DTMLMethod def make_resume(rfile,id,title) ob=ob.__of__(self) if rfile: my_ob=self.Control_Panel.Products.MyClass() my_ob.id=id my_ob.propertysheets.MyProperties.manage_changeProperties( myproperty=rfile.read()) my_ob.manage_edit("""""",title) my_ob=my_ob.__of__(ob) ob._setObject(id, my_ob) You get an id just fine. It acts like any other web created ZClass instance. I hope DC fixes this soon. It's really hampering not being able to extend DTMLDocuemnts and DTML Methods as Zclasses. ZCatalog shifted all index over one.

Michel and others, Here's a wierd one for ya. I created a index and a meta_table. Then I deleted said index and meta_table. Now all of the reports show that the meta_tables are shifted over one in the listing. For example, where my meta_table list goes: first_name last_name id then when I ask for first_name I get last_name, and when I ask for last_name I get id. Not good. I am going to try to reindex the Catalog and see if that fixes things. Any ideas on why this happens? Michel, I have some really interesting situation in using the Catalog in a constantly pounded production environment, email me and I'll fill you in if you would like to know. Extending ZCatalog

I've wrapped a C function which computes the metaphone algorithm (like soundex, only better supposedly - matches words by the way they sound), and I'd like to be able to search a ZCatalog using this function. I'd like to have, in addition to Text/Field/Keyword indexes (sounds cool - when do we get documentation?) a Metaphone index where the Catalog stores the metaphone value of a attribute, since this seems to the easiest way to implement this. Any pointers on where exactly to do this?
