Are you using substransactions? If you are using 2.0.x, then you might not notice any improvement with sub-transactions because of a deactivation bug that was fixed just after the release (sigh). If you use the CVS version and tune your cache agressively, you should be able to keep the memory below a ceiling for any number of objects. ZCatalog is pretty agressive about this, not only does it sub-transact but it also kicks the cache with self._p_jar.cacheFullSweep(1). > (The largest number of objects stored in a Zope database would > be an interesting bit of trivia.) If you generate the HTML on a Linux machine, they look aweful. If you generate it on a Windows machine, they look normal. Ok, here's an idea, you can download an evaluation copy of OD that doesn't let you save more than 30 elements (and expires after a period of time) but it does let you read arbitarily sized models. Here is the model file http://www.digicool.com/michel/PTK/PTK.odm for the brave among you. -Michel

To get a list of actual objects, just objectValues. To get a list of (id, object) tuples, use objectItems. -Michel

Due to my lack of Zope experience, I've been getting into some problems, and I hope your experience can help me. DTML/ZClass ID Bug

Hi, Just a quick note to let you know I haven't found a solution yet. This problem seems to cause massive problems with acquisition in that when the method is called it operates within a COMBINED context of the ACTUAL Zclass and the INSTANCE. For example, the "parent" of a troubled instance is the actual zclass, NOT the object which contains the instance. My "hack of the day" is to pass the id via an encoded url or hack up one of the URL1's and then use the namespace to get it. Not very elegant :( I think I'll pop this into the Collecter now that people have verified that it IS a bug and not some weird stuff I'm playing with wrt to XML document acquisition.
