I'm trying to get notmail setup, but something seems to have happened to my Zope 1.10 installation. I noticed this problem before installing Notmail, but now it's a problem. At the root folder I got to permissions, create roles "NotMail" and "ImapUser" That works ok. However when I select "Browse Notmail" for imapuser and Notmail and click change, I get a traceback ending in Permission.py line 166, attributeError: manage_findOpt Any ideas? accessing DTML variable namespace outside DTML

Hello. I just posted this to the collector. What do you think? -----------------8<------------------------- DTML variable namespace is not available from eg External Methods, ZSQL Method, etc... Only the variables defined in REQUEST are available. Because of this feature,  construct are useless when used in conjunction with Z* Methods. For example, in   ...   cookedvalue is not available from query, even if the name "cookedvalue" is among the ZSQL Method parameter. However,   ...  works great. But it is sometimes indesirable to leave the variable 'cookedvalue' in the namespace. I had to patch my Zope to implement REQUEST.unset, but I'd like to use as few patches against pristine Zope as possible. Also, a DTML Method calling an External Method (or ZSQL Method, or whatever method) that is evaluating another DTML Method (or ZSQL Method, or whatever method) often do not render as expected because only the variables stored in REQUEST are kept. I suppose this feature would require a rewrite of the REQUEST variable handling, causing it to also 'carry' the current DTML namespace along with it. Anyway, I think it would be useful. Hyperfiction Questions

(Sorry about sending the previous with the Digest Appelation) Hi: I am a newbie, and am only using Zope like SSI. I have experience with Cold Fusion and PHP3 and need to do the following on my little hyperfiction site, COELABORATION.COM. I have collected a main file of content that looks like this: << - - - - - 8:41) Ginny Little 06-JAN-98 18:26 no downer, just a cycle, a circling round, a pause for breath, a look at shadows in the light, offering contrast, offering calm resolve, as people die on skis on slopes i have traversed, so i pause, and i wonder a bit, and i don't say much-the silence comforts and words capture nothingness. - - - - - 8:42) Katherine Blanke (KAT) 06-JAN-98 23:07 Late at night, on break from the pile of homework that still eludes me...had a glimpse of the "adult world" today in the registering of college. Funny how when I reach the end of a stage, I always look to the next steps as being wonderful and transforming. Funny, isn't it... Late at night, the only thing alive is my mind and my writer's voice, sometimes a whisper at the back of my mind, other times a shout I turn frantically for but no one else hears. Anyway, if any of you all know off the cuff the best way to go about constructing this "hyperfiction," I would be very excited. I would like to manifest something like the results above on public web, but I did the above hypertext using Screen Porch's Caucus 4.0 <http://screenporch.com>;<http://caucussystems.com>. Any help would be truly adored as this is a self-funded work of love... Thank Goddess for my little P100 box and its Zope, MySQL, and Scott Burns, my guru... I haven't seen a reply to this... ZopeHTTPServer (or ZServer, which is replacing it) certainly doesn't seem to have any support for virtual domains. Debugging Tip

Maybe you know this one already but I didn't. Did you know that you can fire up Python and import Zope's Main module to get access to Zope's objects from the comfort of the Python prompt? 1. cd to lib/python, this will make things easier, since you won't have to add lib/python to your sys.path. 2. start Python (if you're using a binary of Zope, you may want to use Zope's copy of Python) 3. import Main 4. The Zope app object is Main.app 5. From there you can get at any Zope object. 6. Some objects may be ghosts and will look empty when you do a dir on them. To load them from the object database, try to access one of their attributes. 7. If you want to make changes to the database don't forget to call get_transaction().commit() to commit your changes. If you really want to mess up your Zope install this will let you do it in style ;-) Of course you wouldn't be considering this unless your broken Product already messed things up, so what do you have to lose? Also, don't forget about the Zope debugger which is a more controlled way to get access to Zope internals. Have fun! -Amos
