catlogged specialist and rack

Hello, for those who are in a need for search and enumeration capabilities for specialist and racks in ZPatterns-0.3.0 right now like I am, the following could be interesting. Searchable.py defines: CatalogAwareAttributeProvider, CatalogAwareAcquiredAttributeProvider Attribute providers that recatalog the object when its attributes are changed CatalogAwareRack Rack that has a catalog inside it, and index the object created with newItem, and modified afterward. by default, only the id is catalogged. this can be changed in _setup for derived classes CatalogAwareSpecialist Specialist that has support for CatalogAwareRack. A tab 'Contents' provide support for enumerating the objecs in the racks. www/contents can be customized to allow, editing, adding, and/or deleting objects if you like. This, in fact, is a quick hack. remember that all these will be useless when ZPatterns-0.4.0 is out. Q2: ZCatalog Intelligent Objects

Hi, Here's the second question: 2. I've seen various mentions of that fact that objects being catalogued can be intelligent about what gets catalogued, for example: stripping out HTML, but where can I find out how to produce an object that does this? Does it make a difference if it's a ZClass-based object or a python class-based object? Does it make a difference if it's CatalogAware or not? How does the 'update catalog' button interact with this? This could make a hacky-workaround for question 1: If, when an object was catalogued, it actually indexed title and body together in an index named 'text', it would solve the OR problem, but how do I do this so that it works in all the cases? cheers, and many thanks for any help :-) Chris

Q1: ZCatalog Search Expressions

Hi, I've read the Interfaces Wiki and other bits of documentation I could fidn and still haev a coupla questions: 1. Is there any way to build complex queries for ZCatalogs? I saw mention of a QueryObject but it's not documented anywhere that I could find. The current method of putting stuff in the REQUEST does something similar to: (Index1 CONTAINS word1) AND (Index2 CONTAINS word2) ...etc And there's the clunky way of doing ranges using form fields. I was wondering if there's a something I've missed that would let me do something like, for example: ((title CONTAINS search) OR (body CONTAINS search) AND (reviewed IS '1') AND (meta_type IS ['Posting','Article','Reply']) AND ( somedate < bobobase_modification_time < someotherdate) If not, I think there should be... and yes I know it's going to be hard to code! ;-) cheers, Chris

Please HELP: Nested ZClass, Nested instance

Hello All My name is Karl Park. I am preety new, but very serious in developing on Zope, because my company's intranet is going to move to Zope. There's one problem that I have been struggling with, but still I couldn't find solutions for it. I looked through the how-to's and archives, but could find what I really want to see.. So, if there's anybody that can help me with this, could you please give me your solution as to this? Let me describe my situation below. I created a ZClass in the Product folder. And anther ZClass under the ZClass(thus nested class) Thus it loos like something like this. / Control_Panel Products ------------------------------------------>Product Folder ProjectSpec --------------------------------------> My Parent ZClass ProductInfo ---------------------------------> Nested ZClass of "ProjectSpec" ZClass TranslationMemory ---------------------> Nested ZClass of "ProjectSpec" ZClass ProjectHome --------------------------------------------------> Home folder from which to down, my application resides ProjectSpecEntry ----------------------------------------> All the instances of ProjectSpec will reside here for retrival, viewing, editing etc... We have many projects, and instance(object) of ProjectSpec Object should be programatically created of edited through the web interface. My battle was, create a child object(instance of "ProductInfo" or "TranslationMemory") inside an object which is instance of "ProjectSpec" object. The reason why I designed my classes like this was, as all of you know well, I didn't want fo fill up the "Add List" with lots of ZClass list. >From the theoretical perspective, ProductInfo class(object), TranslationMemory class(object) cannot be thought of without having the ProjectSpec object. To do it, I created a DTML Method which accepts user's input and then, if needed, it have to create an object. But the sencond part to create the child object doesn't seem to work. If I take the easy way, that is, creating othere ZClass on the top of the products folder of Control Panel, I can do it. But I don't think it is a good desing from the perspective of OOP.... Could any one of you have solution to this, so that I can keep the Class Hierarchy as above and create the object nested? ZSQL methods inside of ZClasses

I want to create a ZClass that will incorporate a number of ZSQL methods. I have a couple of questions about how I should do this. 1. I don't want to tie my ZClass to a particular database adapter. But to create my ZSQL methods inside of my zclass I need a connection. How do I circumvent this? 2. Even when I do create a ZSQL connection inside of my ZClass and I create my ZSQL method. Every time I run the method, I get a "connection not found" error. What is up? -L

authorization and SQL-methods

Hi I'm using the latest cvs-version of Zope and I seem to not be able to acces ZSql-methods, I get the login-box, but I can't login as anyone (I have tried to login as superuser, myself (owner/manager) and not at all, but all I get is not authorized. The methods do work in management-mode, but not in the actual pages (or in he view-tab for index_html). Everything Aquires security from the root-folder, but that doesn't seem to help any (neither does giving everyone full rights...). And yes I checked to see that the root-folder is setting "Use database methods". So if anyone has any ideas to try, I'd be happy ;) My guess is that it has something to do with the new security patches, but I'm not sure. oh, right, and another thing, could you cool developers of Zope please take a quick look through all the management-tabs and make sure that they don't move around alot like they do now ;), this would speed up productivity a little for us users ;). /Peter Toneby, who finds stability boring ;) -- Alpha Test Version: Too buggy to be released to the paying public.
