Resize a image stored in a Oracle's BLOB Field

Hello, Thanks, I have displayed the images which them was stored in a Oracle's BLOB field, with: <dtml-call expr="RESPONSE.setHeader('content-type','image/jpeg')"> <dtml-in SQLMethod_with_a_Only_Row> <dtml-var expr="BLOB_FIELD.read()"> </dtml-in> However, I would like to resize this image. I can not do it with the "height" and "width" attributes, because the image is obtained from a Oracle's BLOB field, and no from image object (i.e.: I can not use <dtml-var "ImageObject.tag(border='5', align='left')">). How can I do it ? Thanks again !

ZCatalog scalability

After comsidering the feedback I got from the previous 'Massive scalability' thread, I decided to split my queries into two areas: Rack scalability and ZCatalog scalability. This email deals with the latter. Partial match (wildcard) searches have already been identified as a resource hog, depending on the size of the result list. I am more than willing to give up wildcards in my application for performance. What I am interested in for my application are two things: - ZTopics populated using one or more keyword indexes - Full text search on a single computed attribute that concatenates several fields including the aforementioned keyword index fields and a few simple string attributes (title, caption, description, etc.) I need to know how far the ZCatalog will scale using this indexing and search strategy. Does anyone have anectodal or benchmark data to suggest if (and when) I will hit a 'wall' regarding the number of objects being indexed and searched? Some anectodal data suggests that single field indexing will scale easily to 60,000 objects, what about hundreds of thousands or even millions of objects? Also, is there a way to disable wildcards in full text searches? Thanks, Michael Bernstein.

2.3.0. Unindex_object Tried To Unindex Nonexistent

I'm having some more problems with the ZCatalog in Zope 2.3.0 I've got a name error in the file UnTextIndex.py Error Type: NameError Error Value: i I believe this is occuring when the catalog tries to unindex an object that isn't currently indexed. The traceback reports line 332: File /usr/zope/zope-2_3_0/lib/python/SearchIndex/UnTextIndex.py, line 332, in removeForwardEntry The line in question reads: LOG('UnTextIndex', ERROR, 'Unindex_objects tried to unindex nonexistent' ' document %s' % str(i)) The function never uses or declares i, however it does use documentId. I think perhaps the i should have been documentId but I thought i would check with you guys first. What do you think? -Andy

Interfaces Wiki & Security Stuff

Hi, How active/relevant is the interfaces wiki at: http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/Projects/Interfaces I'm trying to figure out how RoleManagers, local roles, etc work and where the work of Zope Security is actually done. I've found ZopeSecurityPolicy.py and bits of stuff in Roles.py, and a few lines in BaseRequest.py, but the picture is still kinda flakey :-S It looks like there was quite a lot of discussion on the Wiki about all this, but I'm not sure how old it is and whether anything happened from it :-( Also, the new Wiki History thing doesn't seem very meaningful/helpful to me. Apart from the occasional 'No Data Returned' and Zope error page, the list returned doesn't seem to have any changes in it. What am I doign wrong? So, where should I be looking to find out how RoleManager, Local Roles & Proxy Role work from a Python product developers point of view (in Zope 2.3) and what changes are in the pipeline? cheers, Chris

Broken FTP ZClass PUT 2.3.0

Hi all, I have recently upgraded to 2.3.0 and it has broken my FTP support. When I try to do an FTP upload to an instance of my ZClass, it fails because it is calling the default PUT of a webdav.Collection instead of the PUT of my python base class. My setup is such: A Python product with a ObjectManger(ish) base class that overrides PUT to do special manipulation of large files. I have a bunch of ZClasses that inherit from my base classes for the management pages, meta data handling and 'live' updates. Now, instead of PUT being called on my base class, it is being called on webdav.Collection which throws an exception. In 2.3.0 ZClass inherits Base, webdav.Collection and SimpleItem where in 2.2.x ZClass only inherits from SimpleItem. Is there any way to get my old functionality back (without editing Zope)? -Sean

This is a forwarding of an interesting session-related discussion between Andy and I... it covers the idea of storing session states as "snapshots" at a particular time, later allowing users to select a session state. This is useful if you wish to allow users to make incremental changes to data in a session and "bookmark" a session state for later copying into the current session. This is something that the "bare" session tracking stuff won't do for you, although it can facilitate it tremendously.
