zwiki & chinese

in my current effort to try make zwiki work in chinese, i have done the following: i remove the intl_char_entities and add to _create_page: #make a new (blank) page object page = re.sub("%","",quote(page)) which make the created pageid valid zopeid (does it work all_the_time?) however, the page is created, but zwiki fail to recognize the new page and fail to link to it. can anybody help point to me where should i make further changes? moreover, is it possible to create a corresponding wikiname -> id link so the wikiname does not necessary a valid zope id? when we make editing the wiki page, is it a worth to have a list of all valid wiki name handy so we can make reference to them or avoid making an unexpected link? Zope on OpenBSD 2.8 makes me cry

I'm pulling out my hair trying to get Zope working on OpenBSD 2.8. I understand that there are issues...someone sent in a bug report on 1/15/2001 to the OpenBSD folks with the exact problem I'm experience. The problem has something to do with threading. I've tried 2.3.0 and 2.3.1b1 and the situation is the same in both: builds fine and starts fine, but when you try to go to /manage, python shoots up to 99% on the CPU and it never loads. I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to proceed, or if there is a more recent development snapshot that 2.3.1b1 that I could try...? Also, I notice that I *have* to use python 1.5.2, not any later version. Later versions give ugly "got node 12, expected node 312" errors. I've seen some posts on deja.com that Solaris people have this problem as well. This is not a problem (I installed python 1.5.2), just want to mention it in case it's important. Thats a problem with the current fs, a cvs like version expanding would be great, like <dtml-meta> <version>3</><revision>2</><release>4</> <changelog> Bugfix refererred to Bugreport #4711. </changelog> </dtml-meta> The user would be the user who had logged in, of course. QuickTime VR Movies

Hi all, I have found an error or bug in handling QT VR Movies with Zope. I have uploaded three qt files into Zope as File objects. I also have installed this files in the normal appache directory. Now comes the error? If i do a wget with the files from the apache directory and thi files from Zope i get always two different version of the same file. That means that a QT File that comes from Zope has a different content than a file comes from apache. The problem is that this litte difference makes a qt plugin to crash. I'am using zope 2.2.4 on Immunix 6.2(redhat). Who can help???

Permission problems

Hi guys, I've been struggling with some permission problems, and I'd appreciate some help... Being that I don't know too much about permissions (yet!), solving this issue is hard (and security _is_ hard); so I'll just point you to the problem: http://www.zope.org/Members/morphex/AddressBook/address_book-1.0.0-permissi… Just read about the SecurityClass stuff in AccessControl, but can't quite gripe that either. HowTo: trying to acces only the form elements in the REQUEST ...

Hello everyone, I need a quick hint. How do I check wether there are any "form" elements in the request. And how can I only acces those ? I want to pass those, and only thos on to a ZClient call to another website. I do have a request like this: http://server/foo/bar?name=bar&param=foo&param2=baz Now I want to isolate name, param and param2. State of ZPatterns

So any changes in the basic tools I use bother > me. Me too. My preference is to have only the best solutions right from the start, and to only have to learn things once. Problem is, after 14 years doing this stuff, none of it has had the simple courtesy to just stand still! The good news is, for the most part, the trend is in the general direction of improvement. Again, how can I complain? I don't pretend to fully "get" any of the stuff these guys, nor the DC crew, not to mention the PythonLabs team, and all the astounding folks on the lists are cooking up for the rest of us. All that I can say for certain is that based on past history, it will be even more amazing than the stuff that has me totally dazzled already. One thing that has definitely grabbed my attention about TransWarp is the goal of not only making Zope development more flexible and powerful, but to bring the same facility to "Extra-Zope" development. We all hang out here because of the incomparable degree to which Zope has empowered Web development. But Jim Fulton himself has said how tickled he is that folks are starting to use ZODB independent of Zope. Zope is, after all, an amalgam of several Python modules, any one of which can be pulled into a non-Zope application. Right now, at this point in time, the Web is absolutely critical, and anything that helps us deal with the crude state of the Web (e.g. browser hell) is a life-saver. So, Zope's greatest strength is its Web-centricity, but it can also be it's Achille's heal, once the Web reaches maturity, and technology moves on. Something like TransWarp can assure that all the goodies that we build for Zope can continue to live on and remain viable, long after "The Web" is a quaint artifact, a footnote in the primitive history of an ubiquitous Global Communication System. ZmxODBC DA

I am curious of how popular SQL Server is among Zope developers. We have recenly upgraded from SQL 7 to 2000 and noticed most of the database support for Zope centers around Oracle, MySQL, Postgres, Sybase, etc... How many people are using this ZmxODBC database adapter? And what kind of problems/issues/praise do you have? zWiki and Chinese

I am trying to fix zWiki for Chinese. What I did is to remove for c,e in intl_char_entities: t = re.sub(c,e,t) from _text_cleanups of ZWikiPage.py Then, I modify all forms to make them set utf-8 as default encoding. After that, every thing seem working. The only problem for me is that I can not create new pages with name in Chinese. Because the way that wiki is create, it is very limited and ugly to include some unrelated WiKiNames in the middle of the text, and the link nevery self-explain. Is it possible to include quote or other encoding methods such that the utf-8 encoded text between [] were always converted to a correct ZODB id? Which might solve the currently id problem for zope? Moreover, zWiki use regular expression on the utf-8 text as if they were ascii. Is it possible to convert it to unicode before applying regular expression? Or can we store them as unicode?
