Hey Andreas, I have articles with the following attributes: author, search_meta, title and publication date All attributes are included in the meta data list. When I search my Catalog (of articles), only attributes of type string are returned in the search result. Publication date (of type date) and search_meta (of type text) do not get covered in the search. Is the code for the Formatted Document object type used in the Zope.org Members area available anywhere? I would like to use it as the basis for something I am working on. Dear Zopistas, I just met the following problem caused by a misfortunate name clash between Python2.x and Zope: DTML-Document: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title_or_id></h2> <table cellpadding=5> <dtml-in propertyIds> <dtml-let p=sequence-item> <tr><th>&dtml-p;</th><td><dtml-var "_[p]"></td></tr> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> When this document is rendered, Shane's wonderful ZDebug tool reports: Error type: Unauthorized Error value: Access denied for <built-in method title of string object at 0x8d45e50> because its container, 'title', has no security assertions. Innermost method: /Test/wt/Target Namespace Stack (innermost entry at top) ID Type (N/A) mapping with keys: ['p'] ? InstanceDict ? DocumentTemplate.DT_InSV.sequence_variables (N/A) mapping with keys: ['propertyIds'] (N/A) mapping with keys: ['document_id', 'document_title'] Target InstanceDict Target InstanceDict REQUEST ZPublisher.HTTPRequest.HTTPRequest .... problem in "_[p]". What happens here? "dtml-in" pushes the property id "title" (a string) onto the namespace stack. It is the next-to top "InstanceDict" entry. Starting with Python 2.0 (maybe 1.6), string objects have methods, among them "title". When "title" is looked up in the namespace, the "title" of the string object is found and not the one of the DTML Document. This wrong "title" method gives an "Unauthorized" exception because string objects do not participate in Zope's security mechanism. Danger Any string object on the namespace can prevent access to the "title" property. Propably only "dtml-in" and (if used wrongly) "dtml-with" are affected. Thank you Shane for the wonderfull "ZDebug". Without it, it would have been much more difficult to analyse this problem. Dieter

KeywordIndexes in Zope 2.4.0b2

Hi Andreas, I could have sworn I saw you checkin a KeywordIndex where you could AND rather than OR the search results, but now I've installed 2.4.0b2, I can only find a normal KeywordIndex's with nothing to manage in the Settings tab. Where should I be looking? I also found some little bugs... In the undo tab, I get: /my_zcatalog//manage_addKeywordIndex by chris ...when I add an index, which doesn't seem right. Also, when I click on he indexes tab, it jumps to /my_zcatalog/Indexes and all the tabs change. That feels really clunky :-S Can't the Indexes containerish object just appear in the ZCatalog contents like the vocabulary does? cheers, Chris

I have to say that I agree with you Dieter. It would be very useful to have the ZClasses that relate to a project in a single branch with the rest of the project code for a number of reasons * Security (As you said). Users could have full write permissions to one branch only. * Backups or exporting from development to production servers. With the code all in one place, it would be possible to export the entire project from a development server and import it to the production server in one action (Ok, one action each end) eliminating the possibility of getting code and ZClasses out of sync. * Reducing the size of the "Add List" - This has to be a pain for everyone! However I also understand the appeal of having a central, restricted, ZClass repository as well, it just serves a different (Not incompatible) purpose. It is very nice to be able to structure the site hierarchy into folders corresponding to appliciations and allow each team responsible for an application to put in everything they need for the implementation: database adapters, additional user definitions, special roles, ZClasses, .... Zope already allows this partially. Unfortunately, the product registry is global and not managed similar to user folders. Your proposed "virtual instances" would be an alternative solution.
