Hi, I resend this quesstion with a little better re-line, and hopefully some better explanation. I try to add a ZSQLmethod by means of a modified load_site.py from the utilities directory of the Zopedistribution. it has a upload_html procedure with the line: call(object.manage_addDTMLMethod, id=root, file=f) which uses the ZClient.py to call the URL: http://www.myhost.de/manage_addDTMLMethod and submit the parameters in the post. this one works. I created an upload_sql: with the corresponding call: call(object.manage_addZSQLMethod ,submit="Add" ,id = root ,template=template ,title="" ,connection_id=string.strip(dbcon) ,arguments=params) but thisone always fails with a "Not found error" for http://www.myhost.de/manage_addZSQLMethod So what is the correct path to the manage_addZSQLMethod ? Zcatalog custom index/splitter woes

Hi all. I've customised my own splitter, which works fine when using a standard (non-globbing) lexicon. I also have a customised index, which is working fine. A problem arises when I create a vocabulary that uses my splitter and has globbing enabled. When I do this, the vocabulary reports that it is using my splitter and has globbing enabled, but when I index some things it is evident from the contents of the vocabulary that it is using the standard ZopeSplitter, not my splitter. So far I've put a call to zLOG.LOG in the index_object method of my custom index at the point where the splitter is acquired from the lexicon ( splitter=lexicon.Splitter ) and the log entries are showing two distinct splitters getting assigned when I index objects. Problem with StructuredText and expandtabs

Not being sure where to send this.... here it is. I am trying to use StructuredText outside Zope. I can import it fine, but when I try to use it I get: ====================================== >>> st=StructuredText.Basic(raw) Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in ? File "ST.py", line 113, in StructuredText paragraphs = expandtabs(paragraphs) File "/usr/lib/python2.1/string.py", line 295, in expandtabs return s.expandtabs(tabsize) AttributeError: expandtabs ====================================== I get this on Python 2.1, using the StructuredText from Zope 2.4.0. I have done this on two separate systems now. If anyone has any ideas or workarounds, I'd appreciate it. Also, if anyone can test it against a python 1.5 system, that may be helpful (I've migrated to 2.1 ... pn all available machines). Bill Anderson

TAL problem: getting to one's classes

Hello, Could someone give me some hints on how to help TAL get to my classes. My situation is: my classes are in zope/lib/python/Products/MyProduct/. 'mainClass' basically creates a folder object in Zope with a user interface (index_html and such). And this UI basically allows for the creation of various other objects inside this mainClass container. In other words, pretty similar to what ZMI does. So, I create the mainClass using the ZMI itself. Then I can access the UI as normal user from the net (outside ZMI) - namely, I get to the index_html form generated by mainClass. I think the ZMI analogy would be 'manage_addmainClassForm'. But then I can't access my method to process the form, which lives in Products/MyProduct/someOtherClass. My TAL page (or zpt, if you will) is looking inside the mainClass object (folder) for this method, while I want it to look for it in Products/MyProduct/someOtherClass. And I'm having some problem understanding the TAL Tutorials. Hence this message. Any help appreciated. Regards, Vio

Weird ConflictErrors on startup

Hi, I'm trying to move a project from Zope 2.3.2 to Zope 2.4.0. ANNOUNCE: phabric project - Zope on Java

A few weeks back, Web Elite started work on Phabric, a project to bring Zope to Java via Jython. Since there has been a lot of discussion in the past couple of weeks on the jython-dev list about Zope related topics (ExtensionClass, Acquisition and Zope as a whole), we've decided to fully open the project now rather than telling interested people individually. Web Elite is committed to this technology. This open source Java software will bring many of the benefits to Java developers that Python developers have been enjoying already. The main phabric website is at http://www.phabric.org. If you're interested in phabric, we have started some mailing lists to get some discussion going. You can sign up for the lists at http://lists.webelite.com. If you're just interested in tracking the general progress of the project, subscribe to phabric-announce. For developers interested in working on phabric, we have set up a phabric-dev list to discuss the core phabric work. Current Status -------------- ExtensionClass and Acquisition are fairly complete. We're working on the other C modules (largely in python to begin with) right now. The next step after that will be to do profiling and move some of the code into better-optimized Java. The latest download information for phabric will always be at http://www.phabric.org/download. Currently, the only access to phabric is via CVS. Why phabric? ------------ We chose to call the project phabric because there will not be 100% compatibility between zope and phabric, and a new name will avoid confusion. "Phabric" was chosen because it's a framework that holds your web apps together. Metaphorically speaking, you can weave your objects into the phabric of the web... Java Python Extension and Zope

Hi I have just started experimenting with the JPE (Java Python Extension - http://www.python9.org/p9-cdrom/10/index.htm & http://www.arakne.com/jpe.htm ) as presented at Python9. I can successfully access java classes/methods through external python methods called from dtml (products come next ;-). (only just got it to build and run, with only the most simple of tests, now I need to get my head around the issues of returned data types, and what it will mean to persistance ;-) I think this technology holds all sort's of interesting possibilities to extend Zope so that it could make native rmi calls to java services, maybe you could use JSP's as backend components (a bit like the PHP adaptor, mind you one might ask why ;-). If nothing else it can go some way to alleviating some of the regular objections I have encountered promoting zope, that talking to java services through mechanisms other than xml-rpc isn't really feasible. (one thing that interests me is taking some standard java implementations of services and bolting them on to zope ie JXTA (mind you there may well already be a python implementation in the works ;-) Is anyone else exploring this stuff? If so drop me a line. If any one else is interested I'll put up a wiki page to start a discussion going (benefit's, technical issues etc...) changing aquired attributes

Hopefully a simple answer to this. I am using an external method to change aquired properties, eg, to increment an integer property acquired from somewhere. The problem is to persist this. It is easy enough to find the aquired property, eg: self.aquired_property, and then of course to change it. But to make this persist, the only way I found of doing this was to write a recursive function that went through each aquisition wrapper asking if this unwrapped level had the property. If it did I would set self._p_changed=1 on the object that owned it and all would be fine, the update to the property would persist. Is there any more elegane method for updating an aquired property like this that also forces it to persist? regards Matt
