Is this a bug or a feature? If it's a bug, I'll work on a fix. I'm guessing this is a feature; perhaps using the '-' delimiter suggests I'm trying to use ISO formatting. Forgive my ignorance, but what are the characteristics of a leak in this regard? I use a catalog-intensive setup, and my memory footprint for Zope seems to slowly increase over several days. Might this be a leak? On my 2 ZEO identical clients, I get about an average of 50-60 catalog queries per minute each, and load is distributed equally (round-robin) over the 2 nodes by my proxy server. Both nodes were restarted at the same time yesterday, yet the one node that performed a re-indexing of about 16,000 objects early this morning has an RSS of 242 MB vs. 219 MB on the other node. The RSS on both nodes had grown to over 450 MB earlier yesterday before I restarted Zope, so I wonder if that is a leak, esp. in regard to re-indexing a catalog, or something else. Forgive the ignorance of my question - I'm just trying to get a grasp on this. LeakFinder tries to patch classes with an __init__ and a __del__, which only works with Python classes. ZCatalog could be the culprit if you have a lot of records. Memory Leak debug - help

Hello everyone, I've tracked down some memory leaks and now after running for 3 days zeo client's memory goes stable. But I would like to know if there is someone who can comment on this: -On a zope client running for 3 days I get on top of RefCount from DebugInfo the following class: BTrees.IIBtree.IIBucket Question1: does anyone can point out some products which do heavy use of this class soo I can debug on that? I know there is ZCatalog, but what else? Question2: does anyone know if it is safe to apply to this class the LeakFinder product patch? delegable user folder

Hi: (This message is an attempt to state a problem and solicit feedback. I am not looking for collaborators, someone to code it for me, or the like. I want to know if other people have thought along these lines and would be interested in such a UserFolder.) (I will cheerfully ignore "not another userFolder" messages. I have no choice!) I am starting to be in desperate need of a delegable user folder. By this, I mean that I want a user folder that allows the superuser to delegate account creation, revocation, and passwording to another less powerful administrator. This less powerful administrator would belong to a set of "associations". The individuals that he granted authority to would have no more associations than the granting administrator. (He might grant a proper subset of his associations, though). For example, I might create an administrator Andy who had authority over ('Gap', 'Old Navy', 'Banana Republic'). Andy could create users who had any, or all, of these associations. Andy could also create other administrators who had any or all of these associations. Question: Suppose Barb was an administrator for ('Levi') and created user Chris (along with some identifying information). Should Andy be able to add his (one of) association(s) to Chris, or should he be forced to create a new user? I could code either one and live with either one. This question is concerned with the 'greater good'. I also want some options and data I have not seen under other userfolders. I want (at least) these: timestamp of last login, number of consecutive login failures, IP of last login, authorizing administrator(s). I want a forcePasswordChange method. I would also want a passesPasswordPolicy method, which would be (at least) somewhat configureable without coding and would be called before account creation or password change. Are there any other things that occur to you as being necessary to determining revocation policy? What about privacy? Should a user be allowed to mark some (or all) of his identifying data private? Should an adminstrator be allowed to add his association to another individual who has all of his data marked private? Finally, given that I have to do this, do you have any advice on how to start. ZPatterns/loginmanager, extUserFolder, some other UserFolder, or "just start hacking"? Thanks Jim Penny

Matt, Not really the right list for this discussion... zope would be a better one. Nonetheless, I suspect your problem is the marshaling of the value. Try naming the field like this <input type=hidden name="now:date" value="..."> note, the :date part in the name is the important bit because it'll convert the string into a date. Adding a Date Property to a Z-Class

Hi there, I'm a bit out of my depth here but I have a problem and I'm hoping someone can help... I created a simple product containing a Z-Class with various properties (along the lines of the Beehive tutorial). I then created both management interface and web based forms for creating instances of this Z-Class. It works great...but I would now like to add a date property to the Z-Class - so that I can conduct searches of all the Z-Class instances by date. In order to add the date property to the Z-Class I had to include a default value in the property sheet - no problem there. However when I come to add an instance through my web based forms I get the following error: Error type: Invalid Date-Time String Error value: The date value from my form is passed as a hidden field with the following: value = "<dtml-var expr="_.DateTime().Date()">" which I believe to be a valid format. I posted this bug almost a year ago - http://classic.zope.org:8080/Collector/1709/view I'm afraid I've stopped worrying about it and taken evasive action to the extent that I don't even know if it's fixed in the current cvs. The above collector item is still pending. Dieter, like many people just might have given the anonymous role view permission in his root folder. Many others, like me, don't usually do that. traversing from zope product

Hi all, in our zope product (a folderish class) we want to call one of its contained methods (like a dtml-method, for example). We also want to decide which method (of all dtml-methods contained in the folderish item) at run-time... We tried using eval('self.' + method_name) and it works... The problem is it can't refer any other object in the same folder (more in general it can't traverse the zope tree)... what can we do? An example: in our "ff" folderish item there is a "mh" mailhost item and a "dm" dtml-method. We call "dm" from one of our "ff" methods (say "ff.mm") using eval("self.dm"). help with propertysheets

Help!! I am new to file based products and hope this is an easy problem... I'm trying to add a PropertySheet to a class. The following is the class def: class CMSBase(PropertySheets.PropertySheets, ObjectManager.ObjectManager, PropertyManager.PropertyManager, SimpleItem.SimpleItem): I am not sure what to pass as 'ns' in the following call, I have tried several different things all with the same error.
