Ok, I've gotten some private feedback on the SecurityJihad proposal (mostly before I did the anouncement last Thursday), and incorporated the suggestions. The proposal is at: http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Proposals/SecurityJihad However, i'd like to know if there is broad support for this proposal from product developers, so even if you don't have any specific comments other than "I think this is a good idea", or "your proposal sucks" I *still* want to hear from you (on the list, if possible). In addition, I still haven't gotten any suggestions on defining the scope of the proposal, and without that I don't think it'll get beyond the EditorialReview stage. So, any ideas on defining a scope for this proposal? Michael Bernstein.

Different Splitter & Lexicon?!

Hi, Using a latest CVS version of PluginIndexes, I'm finding it practically impossible to use a splitter other than the default ZopeSplitter. Can someone explain to me, like a four year old, how I go about changing the Vocabulary (and anything else I need to do) so that my TextIndexes use a GlobbingLexicon and the ISO 8859 splitter?! cheers, Chris

ExtensionClass is not of type Class?!

Hi, I guess I'm doing something wrong here trying to write tests for Squishdot: Traceback (most recent call last): File "testSquishfile.py", line 16, in testAddFile assert isinstance(theFile,Squishfile) TypeError: isinstance() arg 2 must be a class or type Given the above, I put a "print Squishfile" in the line above the assert, it gave: <extension class Products.Squishdot.Squishfile.Squishfile at 010ABC48> So are extension classes not usuable with isinstance? If not, what should I be doing to check I'm creating an object of the right type? If they are usuable, then what am I doing wrong? cheers, Chris

Can't add Vocab with different Splitter (Win32)

Hi, I'm trying to add a Vocabulary with a different type of Splitter, so: 1. I delete the Vocabulary 2. I add a vew Vocabulary (does it have to be called Vocabulary?) 3. I select globbing and the Werner-wotsit splitter. 4. I hit the add button 5. I update the catalog Should that do it? Well, I have a problem anyway: Round about step 4, there is no drop-down from which I can select splitters! This is Zope 2.4.1b1 on Windows NT4. Any ideas? Chris

Refresh in 2.4.0

Hi, I saw in CHANGES.TXT that the refresh functionality is now included in the Zope core. However, as soon as I removed the Refresh product from my INSTANCE_HOME's Products directory, all the Refresh tabs vanished off my products... What's the deal? How do I refresh stuff now? cheers, Chris

Signal 11 restarts

Hi folks. I have a Zope 2.4 CVS checkout from a couple of days ago, which I'm running on a linux system on a Cobalt Raq. I've compiled it against Python 2.1.1 (compiled from source), and compiled a fresh DynPersist.so for it for use with ZPatterns. Every so often, the server restarts after crashing on a signal 11. The log entry looks something like this: 2001-08-15T18:26:03 ERROR(200) zdaemon zdaemon: Wed Aug 15 19:26:03 2001: Aiieee! 8736 exited with error code: 11 I can't reliably reproduce the problem, but it does keep happening. Seeing as it's a signal 11, I'm guessing that something in Python or a Zope C module isn't compiled right. Any pointers as to where to start to debug this? I think someone should submit zope to download.com - it's not a search engine - if you aren't on it, you don't really exist as a piece of software and it's not just for windows software. [DTML] how to check an arbitrary role+permission ?

We ask dtml questions in this group, don't we ? Can't remember. This is hopefully a simple one. I have a zwiki-based website, where some of the pages are public and some are private. On one of the admin pages I want to list all the public pages, ie those pages for which the Anonymous role has View permision. Thanks in advance for any clues.. -Simon
