Who maintains ZPublisher?

Who is _the_ or _a_ maintianer of the code for ZPublisher? I've been rummaging around in the source code, mainly as a learning exercise at this point. I have some questions, possibly some suggestions, and some documentation might come out of it. How-to : Defining custom DTML-tags ??

I want to create a custom DTML-tag. How/where do I start ? My goal is to create a way to define a form and validate the input ( that integers are valid, required fields filled out etc. ) using Javascript in the browser and and on the server side after posting. Any thoughts ? I was thinking something along the lines of : <dtml-form name="form1"> <dtml-field input="text" name="name" type="string" required=1> <dtml-field input="text" name="email" type="string"> <dtml-field input="select" name="programming_language"> <dtml-selectOption>Python</dtml-selectOption> <dtml-selectOption>Perl</dtml-selectOption> <dtml-selectOption>C</dtml-selectOption> </dtml-field> <dtml-field input="checkbox" name="recieve_spam" checked=1> <dtml-field input="submit" caption="Done"> </dtml-form> Any info on how to define your own custom dtml-tags *in python* would be highly appreciated. __setattr__ and acquisition ( was RE: __getattr__ and acquisition)

Given the following code: I can see why access to self.thing fails in Inner::__setattr__, but the question is how do I do that -- can I not use __setattr__ and have to use a setAttr that is accessed via O.I.setAttr('help','me rhonda') ? Zope stops responding (Threads still present)

Hello All, Zope stops responding to requests, however when I check the zope process I see seven threads plus watchdog thread. ( ps auxww | grep z2 ). I am not sure why it stops responding. Actions taken to diagnose the problem: 1) I added the -M option and started logging to the debug file. 2) I am using the requestprofiler.py script to see which request in particular causes the problem (hangs). Everytime the request seems to be different. I make the same request and it runs without hanging zope. So I cannot duplicate the problem. I backup the Zodb every night and I have modified the stop script. I first kill the watchdog pid then I do a wget on http://$ZOPE_AUTH@$ZOPE_HOSTNAME:$ZSERVER_PORT/Control_Panel/manage_shutdown. Could this method of stopping zope be the cause? Also there are no core dumps. System Info RedHat 7.2 Zope 2.5.0 Python 2.1.3 Thanks Ahsan Imam

new mime type, Java Web Start

Here is the solution to my questions in postings 91060 and 91067: To get Java Web Start working with Zope, I used the Zope product "ExternalFile". Therefore I could integrate the jnlp-file with the correct mime type that is "application/x-java-jnlp-files". This is not included in the ExternalFile product but it is simple to append it in file mime.types of the product. Further description by Craeg K Strong: Look at http://www.zope.org/Members/arielpartners/ExternalFile/readme So if you installed Zope at c:\zope Then you would look for the file c:\zope\lib\python\Products\ExternalFile\etc\mime.types And add the line application/x-java-jnlp-file jnlp # Java webstart files to it. Then you restart Zope (or just refresh the ExternalFile product) And you're done!

Wrong length for http requests!

Hi! I am getting the following results from an ab (Apache benchmark) run against a Zope site: Concurrency Level: 20 Time taken for tests: 11.862 seconds Complete requests: 40 Failed requests: 23 (Connect: 0, Length: 23, Exceptions: 0) Total transferred: 1517831 bytes HTML transferred: 1504991 bytes Requests per second: 3.37 Transfer rate: 127.96 kb/s received Connnection Times (ms) min avg max Connect: 0 2 8 Processing: 326 4525 5953 Total: 326 4527 5961 The failed requests are due to a length error. Project manager ala Sourceforge in Zope ??

Hi, I need something similar to Sourceforge ( project manager with docs, simple bug-reporting/issue-tracking, release-manager etc. ), implemented as a product in Zope. The zope.org-homepage has something similar. Is the code available? Does anybody know of any product like this? I'm just getting started with Zope but has several years background in Python. What would be the best way to develop a product like this from scratch ?? Any comments, ideas or people who want to participate in a project like this, please contact me. Best regards, Thomas Weholt

ACTION: 2.6 project status updates...

Hi all - The appointed time is upon us :) We'd like to shoot for a 2.6 alpha 1 release at the beginning of next week (around the 10th). I updated the 2.6 proposed feature page this morning: http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/Zope2.6/ProposedFeatures ...but there are a number of items that we need to clarify the status of. There are a couple of "99% complete" notes, etc. For everyone who is on the hook for a 2.6 feature that is not marked "Complete" on the list, I'd like to get a status update that includes: - whether the work _and_ docs are done - if not, whether you will be able to do them by Fri. - whether your branch is merged. Note that "Complete" on the feature page means that you have finished both the code and docs, and have merged your working branch to the HEAD (and run and passed the unit tests). If something is marked complete that isn't really, let me know that as well! Silence is consent for me to move your incomplete item to the deferred items section, so please drop me a status update even if its just to say "I still want to do it, but I don't think I can make the deadline". Note that its OK if you won't be able to get done in time - that comes with the territory. I'll add anything that doesn't make the deadline to the 2.7 plan, assuming the volunteers are still actively trying to work on it. FYI, I expect that the main focus of Zope 2.7 will be updating the supported platform to Python 2.2. My best guestimate at timing at this point is early-to-mid Q4. Thanks all! Using propertysheets?

I'm making a Zope product (in python) where I want the users to have control over what properties that exist. At the same time I don't want the users to have to deal with having all properties in one big mess under the standard Property-tab. So, my question is then: Should I use the PropertySheets class for this, and if yes, does anybody have any example code, becuase it's not immediately obvious how to use it.
