Zope Version (Zope 2.5.1 (source release, python 2.1, linux2), python 2.1.3, linux2) Python Version 2.1.3 (#1, May 15 2002, 15:52:42) [GCC 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian prerelease) I've got this script which returns strange results: print context.ZopeTime() print context.ZopeTime().toZone('US/East-Indiana') print context.ZopeTime().strftime('%H:%M%p - %m/%d/%Y %Z') print context.ZopeTime().toZone('US/East-Indiana').strftime('%H:%M%p - %m/%d/%Y %Z') return printed The output from this script is: 2002/07/08 16:24:44.687 US/Eastern 2002/07/08 16:24:44.689 US/East-Indiana 17:24PM - 07/08/2002 EST 16:24PM - 07/08/2002 EST The output of the 3rd test case is incorrect. It's as if strftime is changing the time zone. Also the time zone is set to US/East-Indiana in /etc/timezone, yet the default time zone for Zope Time is US/Eastern. We do not want our users to have to manually set the time zone with the toZone method. Any hints? Thanks, -Brian

Hi, I have some python scripts I want to use in Zope. Some of them are blocking, so I was thinking about creating some threads into Zope to use my python scripts. NOT in Field and Keyword Indexes

Hi, I'm messing around with a Plugable Index that can take an NOT operator. (regular field/keyword indexes can just do AND or OR (and of course range). I intend to release my code on zope.org, but first I though I'd write some unit tests. EasyKeywordIndex (as it's currently called) extends keywordIndex and adds three operators 'not', 'notor', 'notand'. ('not' == 'notor') It works by first doing range (i.a.), then doing AND/OR and finally (an the only new stuff) diff it agains all indexed documents. To be able to make the diff at the end I have added a index attribute self._all that is a IISet of all indexed documentIds. Now to the question(s): (I allready answered one of the writting this e-mail ;-) If a document doesn't have the attribute it's index it still is included in the index (as an unindex entry). Why does it work this way, I would have thought that if a document doesn't have the indexing attribute it should be not be included in the index? This would free up allot of references to documents that will never be search through the index, at least in an application where the ZCatalog has allot of indexes that index allot of classes with quite different types of meta-data. For the NOT-aware index it would mean a great different. Instead of returning all documentIds that ever been through the ZCatalog that doesn't match, it would return a much smaller result list. Of course the not index will most probably be combined with other query operators (such as a field of meta_data in my case) but returning a smaller result list would make not indexes more effective, right? Copy without taking including the structure

Hi, I am implementing a kind of Copy function which will strip off the sub level of object being copied. The idea is to copy only the object marked for copying - without the sub objects. (For those interested: I use these objects as special kind of reference objects in my structure.......) In the new copy routine I have added these lines which avoids having the sub level created: [ ....] newObject = ob._getCopy(self) for zob in newObject._objects: delattr(newObject, zob['id']) newObject._objects = () [ ..... ] self._setObject(newObject.id,newObject) # add the object to the Zope database ... delattr is the same method as used by _delOb, so I assumed this is the safe way of doing it. Uploading an object's content via FTP

Hi, I made a CMF portal_type class based on python product. This contains a Photoshop file and some dedicated related services. Users may upload Photoshop files via HTTP. This works with small files but when a user uploads a big file (8 Mb and more) through HTTP, this stalls the server. So I need to provide the user an alternate way to upload the object's content with an FTP client. Where should I start to get this working ? Examples somewhere ? How can I programmatically know the port number for Zope FTP ? How can I catch "FTP upload complete" event ? Thanks in advance. --Gilles

Hi Robert, My friend Lalo (lalo(a)laranja.org) started a rewrite of TAL to make it more pluggable and ease backporting of i18n to Zope2. I dont know how much if it is done right now, but the last time I talked to him, he said that only METAL was missing. Write in a file.

Hello, I have a Python script that has to write a "string" in a file. When I launch it from Zope, I have an error message from Zope telling me I can't write in my file. Is there a way to write in a file from Zope or not? Is that a problem a rights? Do I change something about the security in Zope?
