How to override __getattr__ and not break acquisition

Ok I need to override __getattr__ in one of my product classes. I'm sure this is killing acquisition but not sure about the persistence stuff (I think this is working). Is there a way to make this work? Here is what I'm doing: def __getattr__(self, name): if name == 'myattr': return self.myattr() I assume that somewhere in the Acquisition code there is a __getattr__ but I can't find it. I tried calling Implicit.__getattr__ but its not there. If some one has an example that would be great. -EAD

KeywordIndex errors: This should not happen.

Hi all Our app has been hitting these errors for months: 2002-09-30T11:06:27 ERROR(200) KeywordIndex unindex_object could not remove documentId -444153566 from index ComponentVersions. This should not happen. There *is* an entry in the Catalog for that RID, which *has* '44.131' in the list under the 'ComponentVersions' key in the dict returned by getIndexDataForRID. Did the RID get removed from the KeywordIndex list of RIDs prematurely? Or did it never get inserted? Can anyone shed any enlightenment? Only anonymous in an Access Rule?

Hi, How come getSecurityManager().getUser() returns the Anonymous User in access rules? Surely some checks must have been done to see whether the folder containing the access rule can be traversed to? If so, then why is the anonymous user still being returned? If not, then huh? Problems using Z SQL Method result

Help!! I am trying to write a product that will encapsulate a SQL query and render the results in a table. But I'm having a terrible time getting at the data in the SQL results. Hmm, you may check out http://collector.zope.org/Zope/517 but it could be the same difficulties as we experienced earlier. The problem here was that Zope thought it was returning UTF-8, while it was really returning ISO-8859-1. Problem with security context when calling DTML Method

Hi! I'm writing a proprietary set of python classes for my product. As part of this product, there is a base class with redefined index_html method. This method looks for some object (practically, DTML Method) in it's context with predefined id and tries to call it. However, clicking on them does not expand the tree. If I replace the Structured Text tree_root with a ParsedXML Test document, and comment out the tm.setChildAccess line and the tree_root.REQUEST hack, a working tree document results. I think this is a problem with the plain StructuredTextDocument lacking it's own request object. Can anyone give me any pointers? My goal is to create an easy way to make documents that can be expanded and collapsed like documents in MSWord outline format. If there's a simpler solution, please let me know! Thanks! Colin Leath

script location and traversal question

Hi, Suppose you have have your products in a folder Main, scripts in a subfolder Scripts and object instances in a subfolder Things, i.e. something like this: Main ---- |___ Scripts | |___ Things Now call a script doit on an object Obj: http://localhost/Main/Scripts/Things/Obj/doit If I want to redirect this call, and context is Obj, I do it like this: url = context.restrictedTraverse('Scripts').absolute_url() + '/' + \ context.absolute_url(relative=1) + '/doit' return context.REQUEST.REDIRECT(url) The first line creates: http://localhost/Main/Scripts/ the second line Things/Obj/doit It works but is it good code? Is there a better way to doit? Maybe the problem is more in the organization of Zope scripts and objects. For now, I group scripts into Folders directly under Main and things of users of the site in Main/Members/... If a member wants to access some script, I have to include the script Folder into the path, which leads to more 'complex' code. If I stuff all scripts into Main directly, without subfolders, I don't have to insert the first line, but then I end up with a Main directory loaded with scripts. How should one handle this? __before_publishing_traverse__ calls RESPONSE.redirect(): is there another way to change the browser URL?

Hello: I have defined a __before_publishing__traverse__() method in my Zope product. Its job is to redirect the URL displayed in the browser to a nice looking URL, something like "../myapp/invoices/123" instead of "../myapp/execute" That way all my ZPT forms can call the same method: execute(), and I don't hardcode any URLs in my ZPTs. The objective is to encapsulate my resource-to-URL mapping so that it can be changed independently from the ZPT code. I don't want to use setVirtualRoot, because I want to change the entire URL, not just "all but the leaf" The problem is that __before_publishing_traverse__ is getting called *twice* for each button press. *First* it gets called with the "../myapp/execute" URL. This is when I call RESPONSE.redirect() *Second* it gets called with the "../myapp/invoices/123" URL I am trying to understand how Zope works with the HTTP REDIRECT machinery. Is there a way to make the URL that is actually displayed in the browser *different* from the Zope method name you are calling, aside from using RESPONSE.redirect()?
