Hi, I've seen you announcement. Too bad you quit. :) But to me, the mission integrating PHP and Zope never seems to finish. Especially when Zend 2's coming out. I would expect to see someday a product like Script(PHP) to appear. Anyway, I would like to take over PHParser under the same name. And publish the patches I sent you over the past few days. Can you or someone give me some ideas, according to previous like instances, how to do that: Create a new member/product space or just simply use your existing one? Thanks for your product again. persistence and lists

Hello, I´m working on a product which contains custom data in a list of multiple dictionaries. How can I save the list/dictionaries after changes? Persistence is enabled (and works for other types), and "_p_changed" is set, also get_transaction().commit() is called. A second problem is that multiple instances of the product reference the same list. So if I change the list of one of the instances the other changes, too. The list and dictionaries are stored in a class variable(in the product) and not global. PANIC!!! That old refresh bug again.

Once again I have the problem that all references to imported modules/objects/whatever dissapear when refreshing. It seems like sometimes some modules are not refreshed, even though they really are. Could it be that not all modules are properly purged from memory, and then when Zope core calls our newly refreshed system, it calls old versions of the modules, which now have lost all connection to the outer world, since they no longer exist? Or what? Having to restart each time I make a change is slowing down my development to a complete halt. I don't have time with this, PLEASE I need all help I can get. Hi. just wanted to drop you guys a line and say that chrism_installer_branch will save the world. But I have some questions: Chris said its based on HEAD. Whats the difference between HEAD and Zope-2_6-branch? I probably shouldnt be running HEAD in production? I am having severe leakage here are some refoucnts: DateTime - 62263 IOBucket - 32641 PloneFolder - 22766 User - 22196 PersistentMapping - 12846 CMFDefault.Document.Document - 12820 I have have the python security machinery turned on. should I move to Zope2.6 branch instead of trying to fight? what would I look at next? ~runyaga

As Jens replied, this is because the transactions are getting committed for each person, and you can do this without xmlrpc by committing in your script. The possible drawback of committing after each person is that you're committing a new version of the object being modified. Depending on how you're storing the stuff this can grow your ZODB - if every person is a node in a single ParsedXML document, you'd be storing 1500 versions, each one person bigger than the last. Inno vs Wise. Why not Soysal setup

I'm not sure if I can or suppose to post at zope-coders, but this is where I got the topic from. Has anybody tried soysal setup before? I've tested it out in the past. I like it because it seems flexible enought and has a web update feature you can add to your installation. Just imagine being able to update zope from the Internet on win32. I think it would make the *nix people jealous ;-). I for one being a student can't afford the WISE installer. Seeing that I'm a strong supporter of freeware/opensource I'm not sure I would buy it if I could afford it. Security assertions / non-acquired objects

I have been spending a bunch of time pulling my hair out on this one, so any insight that anyone might have would be appreciated. I have been building a product that takes advantage of a module that I have built to query an external data source (NNTP server for AP wire stories) for items to be imported into a CMF site. The product has an adapter that returns a list of temporary objects to get access at external data. The query method for the adapter that I have set up returns a plain-old list of objects of a custom class; I would like to be able to get access to these objects and their methods with TTW python scripts. However, no matter what security assertions I put into the class for the said objects, I still get something along the line of: The container has no security assertions. Access to 'Title' of (APStory instance at a6704a0) denied. I'm not sure if the security assertions are not working because the objects within the list returned by my adapter object have no acquisition context, or if the issue is something different... So say I have some method (that is itself declared as public) that returns something like this: [<APStory instance at aaa08b0>, <APStory instance at b2c7168>, <APStory instance at b442a28>, <APStory instance at b1e9a60>, <APStory instance at a8fa7a8>, <APStory instance at a406a28>, <APStory instance at a676f48>] ...without any problems (for example, I can traverse via URL to get this), where each APStory object is a temporary, in-memory list that is just the return value of my function. However, whenever I try to access any of these objects within the list from a TTW python script, I get Access denied. All I really want is to be able to access all the methods of each of these objects without interference from Zope's security mechanism. I'm totally baffled on this one (I've been through about 4 cups of coffee already on this problem alone). I'm using Zope 2.6a1 with VerboseSecurity installed. Any help or pointers is greatly appreciated. FreeBSD, Zope and Plone

I have just spent several hours trying to get plone.org back up. It appears that Plone and FreeBSD are not made for each other. I end up getting core dumps. I applied the 'thread stack' patch. I also tried to use Python2.2.1 w/ chrism_installer branch and I get the same results. I am most likely going to move away from FreeBSD to Linux - which is a shame, one less FreeBSD/Zope/Plone combination running in the wild. I know the iMeme guys have Plone running but I have seen really freakish behavior there as well. So I am giving up. If someone wants to hand hold me - I will try again but in a few minutes I'm moving the Data.fs file to a linux box and trying to get plone.org back up. Notes from my experience: - chrism_installer_branch is *very very* nice - thanks ChrisM. - seemingly large file support is never turned on by default in python tarballs. I think this is a shame. I dont know the reasons but reading the posix large file page is very scary. Zope Corp should always enable large file support on all of their python interpreters. - Its really depressing that Python/FreeBSD/Plone have this problem. iirc yahoo.com runs lots of FreeBSD boxens running python for some of their services. but the fact that I have spent some 3 hours trying to get all of this to work and Plone still causes python to core dump is a huge shame. CMF sites work fine. Plone site crash. I have never seen Plone crash on either win32 or linux. This is FreeBSD problem. please help make Zope/Python/*BSD work together gurus - your our only hope. I remember asking the python maintainer to up the thread stack size in python2.1.2 and his response was something like - if your requiring more than whats allocated you have serious problems. ~runyaga
