New Products can't included anymore in Zope !!!!!

Hi Folks, i work now for some month as a devoloper on a Zope System. I have a local workstation where i do my work and then i copy the ready product to our Server. The product has worked very fine on my machine with the same zope version as on the server (2.5.1) After i finished the product i copied it to the Server, but it doesn't work. I checked up if there is anything missing, nope. I look if there is an error while compiling the product, nope. I build an bug into the product, and see, the error gets outputed on the console. Also the files get compiled, but they don't come into the products of Zope. I tried to copy another of our products and renamed the product folder. Normaly the product gets into Zope now a second time, but nope. Nothing happens, no new products can be included. The "Last modified" in productmanagement is for the newest (2002-08-21) and this is long time ago, we changed this product 2 weeks ago and the changes have worked. Has anyone a clue what to do? [BUG] maybe yet unknown BTREES bug

Attention: cross post We have run in an apparent "BTrees" bug (with the "BTrees" version included in Zope 2.5.1). We try to insert a value into an "BTrees.OOBTree.OOBTree" instance with tree[k]= v and get an "exceptions.KeyError on 13384379A0pfvqTmtEQ". The code comes from Zope's "Transience" implementation. The reported key is some session key. We are not yet sure, however, whether it is the key we are just trying to insert. Reading the "News.txt" of ZODB-3.2a1, this bug may not yet be known. We will install the "BTrees" package from ZODB-3.2a1 and see whether the problem disappears. I will report back... Dieter

Hi, I'd just like to know when can we expect a 2.6.1b2. It would be nice to have a new release where we don't have to patch just to get ZClasses to work. -- Ideas don't stay in some minds very long because they don't like solitary confinement.

Zope 2.6.0 ZMI Problem for CJK(Collector 623) patch.

Hi ! Zope 2.6.0 have a problem for non 'iso-8859-1' user. And Collector 623 is still incollect now. http://collector.zope.org/Zope/623 It's serious problem for CJK(I'm Japanese). So I make patch for 2.6.0. http://www005.upp.so-net.ne.jp/zope260-i18n-20021123.diff 1.Install $ cd $(INST_HOME) $ patch -p0 <zope260-i18n-20021123.diff 2.Usage Set attribute 'default_charset'(string type) as 'foo' some Folder object. And after you can set 'foo' charset in the Folder object via ZMI. 3.Attension Python need to recognize 'foo' encoding. (You need install adaptable Codec) I try with 'euc-jp' charset, and I think any charset is available. (But my browser can request only Japanese encoding charset.) thanks

product refresh and random number generation.

hi, I'm having problems with random number generation and product refreshes. To illustrate the problem, consider the following product code: class RandomNumberGenerator(SimpleItem.SimpleItem): """ ... """ def __init__(self,id): "initialize an instance" self.id = id self.__random = Random(time.time()) def next(self): """ returns next random number. """ return self.__random.random() ok, this works but whenever the product is refreshed or the zope server restarts, the generator will start to generate the same sequence of numbers, which is not what I want. I'm having trouble understanding what is happening: since the object gets pumped up every request it would make sense that you get the same random number if you lose some state from the internal random generator. But this isn't happening. You apparantly only lose state when the product is refreshed or when the zope server restarts. Could this be a cache effect ? (I could, as a last resort seed the generator with the current time every request, but then, I lose all guarantees about the period for the random number generation) any input appreciated. Romain.

A couple of Zope Announce's ago, our attention was drawn to this press release: http://www.zope.com/News/PressReleases/SGI-2003-01-22 I was wondering if there are any stories behind that --- what technologies were used, what problems there were, how many people were involved in building it, what SGI's degree of participation was in the design, whether SGI now has inhouse Zope expertise with the ability to extend Supportfolio .. any interesting bits that the community can learn from. interaction with local FS

Hi everyone, I'm curious in finding out how zope interacts with the server's file system: let's say I want to allow the users of my site to manage (read/write) their own files on the server's file system, does Zope support this goal anyhow? As far as I've seen, to me the response seems to be no, it doesn't! The only way to access the server's file system from zope seems to be using the ExternalFile product, which is far from satisfactory from the point of view of file access rights: it only allows access to files owned by zope itself (or in the same group of zope's). No way to access 'someuser''s files with the uid of 'someuser'? There is a product called LocalFS, which will allow you access to the file system. However, the access is with the username/password specified in the properties of LocalFS, so it may be laborious to set up a LocalFS instance for each user you have. XMLRPC client and Zope 2.6.0

Hi, Is there something wrong with XML-RPC client and Zope 2.6.0 ? Things that worked perfectly with Zope 2.5.1 don't work any more !
