Accept-Charset hearders causing 500 internal server error.[correct but not lenient]

Hi, We have problems with the Accept-Charset headers that are sent to the zope server by some mobile phones: fi: 'Accept-Charset':'ISO-8859-1, US-ASCII, UTF-8; Q=0.8' These cause a 500 internal server error. (Error Value: invalid literal for float(): =0.8 ) I checked with the HTTP1.1 RFC26160 section 14.2 and the header seems valid, but in fact isn't: there is a space between the semi-colon and the Q char (which shouldn't be there acoording to the spec). So, in principle, this is not a zope server bug, but an inflexibility. I think the server should be a bit more lenient. a simple .strip() in the right place should do. Could you guys fix this? Hi Shane I have been thinking about this last night. I think you should provide some sort of out of band signalling method. But given that Adaptable Storage sits below ZODB, which sit's below Zope, I feel that the signalling method should be directed at the lowest level. This means that method doesn't need to be exposed to ZODB, and if people use ZODB without Zope they can use Adaptable storage and not need Zope to perform the signalling through a URL. (A Zope front end could then use it, or anything else for that matter) I would suggest a something like a named pipe, and do a blocked read from a python thread (would this be portable and can you actually do that ;-). Then use a simple protocol of sending the path to the file that has been changed. (That way you also get a FIFO queue of events.) You could make it that if the path is a directory then everything under could be treated as changed. Why is it _setObject(), and why is it undocumented

I have a few tutorials / How_to's on zope.org. And sometimes I get some interresting mails because of that. Somebody asked me today why _setObject() has that name, as it is used in many products, and thus ought to be an interface method. And called something like "setObject()" or "manage_setObject()" And also he didn't understand why it wasn't documented anywhere. So why is that? does anybody know? regards Max M

Out of curiosity, Beyond coding XHTML-based ZPTs with tags in the ESI namespace, what else is needed in Zope to make this work? Does Zope need to set an HTTP header for downstream proxies to know that the content of the page is supposed to be processed for ESI? Permission denied for users in Manger role

Hello, Scenario: I have a web app with a form in a folder and I removed "Aquire permission settings" from the "View" permission and added the perm to the "Manager" role. The folder with the form also has an "acl_users" folder and contains users defined as "Managers". When I browse to the form in Inet Explorer, I'm prompted to log in. Issue: When I log in as one of the defined "Managers", I get three strikes then I'm out (permission denied). Why don't the logins work? More Info: I can set the "View" perm to "Anonymous" and access the form without being prompted to log in. I, as "Owner", can log in when the "Owner" perm is enabled and can't when its disabled. So, the security framework partially works, but seems to be missing something. I've tried granting "View" permission to users in the "Manager" role on a simple HTML page I imported into Zope and can't get access to that as a "Manager" either. Have other developers had this problem? Thx, Bob Van

Adding Properties to Folder Objects via a Zope Python Script

consistently getting conflicterrors on 'intSet'

In Accept.py, the Root.parse method is not flexible enough... I haven't time to fix it right away so someone else feel free to do it...
